If you want to go to a privately run hotel with impeccable service, excellent food and just chill out, then this is the place for you. Thompson do have a big presence and provide entertainment during the day but there is no pressure to take part. Their daily quiz made up of crosswords, Sudokus, word searches and anagrams, etc were good fun despite some errors in the answers!!!!
This was our second visit and we were delighted to find that it was just as good as previously. We had asked for the same room in advance and despite arriving very early, found that our room was ready for us. A great start and made us feel really welcome. Our room was on the top floor and overlooked the gardens at the back, well away from the evening entertainment so we weren't disturbed. Carlos was the perfect Hotel Manager, keen to ensure that we were well looked after. And the chef, Angelo, is an absolute star! His rare beef is just exquisite! All of the staff are so polite and helpful. We couldn't have had a nicer stay. Thank you to everyone. We look forward to seeing you again.More

Nice hotel and very pleasant stay
My wife and I love going to Portugal and we have holidayed in Aldeia das Acoteias before but never stayed in this hotel. When we arrived we were upgraded to a junior suite which was very much appreciated, however it was situated directly above the main function room. It was VERY noisy and we asked to be relocated which the staff agreed to, the staff, with the exception one completely unprofessional person who will remain nameless, could not have been more helpful. The rest of the sat was very pleasant and relaxing. The food was good, the setting was second to none, people should not complain about the distance to the beach as the walk was lovely. We only had two complaints about the hotel. The evening entertainment was not the best, what it lacking in quality they made up with being very loud. Secondly, people feeding the fish with bread rolls. I am not an expert on fish, but i know you should not feed them bread, every morning our fellow quests seemed to revel in flocking to feed the fish...surely the hotel should put up a sign? That aside a lovely hotel and we would recommend to friends.More
