Just what we wanted!
Fantastic hotel - not sure where to start! We arrived late at night to be greeted by a very friendly receptionist who checked us in and told us there was a meal waiting for us in our room. Unexpected and a lovely surprise when we arrived. The hotel restaurant was brilliant - breakfast included everything you could ask for and more with enough to suit all tastes. Evening dinner was just as perfect, themed nights as well as regular dishes (pizza, chips, pasta, veg, salads, breads) for 'fussy' eaters. The staff were excellent in making you feel welcome and enjoy your evening. Really lovely lady Rita who served us pancakes each night deserves a mention - a credit to the hotel! :) The pool and surrounding gardens were lovely, very well kept and nice to walk around in. A few reviews have mentioned about the pool being too cold - yes it's a little chilly to start with, but a nice cool swim is what you want in the hot weather surely?! Not a problem at all for us. Rooms are dated but this didn't bother us at all. We hired a fridge for 2.50 a day which was worth it as we bought lunch daily from the supermarket (3min walk away). Also worth a walk to the beach through next door's hotel, a windy route but worth it to see the beach and red cliffs, especially at night. Entertainment was ideal for us. The reps were very friendly and ensured lots of entertainment. One thing we loved was how they were never too pushy - you could join in if you wanted or relax if you'd prefer. We particularly enjoyed the daily poolside quiz and mystery voices! Being a young couple, we weren't sure if this hotel would be for us because it is a little set back from the nightlife/bars etc. However, we had a perfect, relaxing holiday, and made use of the trip to Vilamoura which was definitely worth a visit! The hotel provided the transport and we enjoyed the night of restaurants, bars and pubs. The supermarket was a 5 minute walk from the hotel, with a couple of restraunts and a couple of bars just a little further along the route. Albufeira was about 10 minutes away by taxi (â¬10 each way), or â¬5 (return) by the hotel shuttle bus which ran most days at 10am and picked up at 3pm. Plenty to do there, with a busy touristy beach. We preferred it by evening, when it came alive. Vilamoura was about 20-25 minutes away by the hotel shuttle bus (â¬10 return) which also ran at about 10am and picked up at 3pm, on certain days. Fantastic choice of bars and restraunts around the marina, and lively in the evening. This hotel definitely deserves at least a 4* rating. Cannot fault anything. Thank you to all the staff for making this the perfect holiday!More

Lovely roomy hotel, very clean and really friendly staff and Thompson reps. Food excellent catered for all tastes, beautiful restaurant. Evening entertainment good too. Lovely gardens and pool area. Shame you have to pay to use fridge in room, and would be nice if no shorts for men at dinner was extended to women too as some were obviously beach wear.More

Best Thomson Gold visited.
My wife and I have been visiting Gold hotels for ten years and I have to say that this is our best experience to date. From the moment we arrived ( free drink ) and a lovely warm welcome our luggage was whipped away to our room, the rooms are spacious clean and a lovely large well mattressed bed. The pool area is well equipped with plenty of sunbeds no towels needed to reserve at 6am, there is a choice of shaded areas or get straight down to topping up your tan with umbrellas available to use, also in the beautiful well kept gardens with bridges over ponds and pools with ornamental carp there manicured lawns with ample amounts of sunloungers to move into the shade as and when required. The food is buffet style served in an conditioned superb apportioned restaurant, there were regular theme nights whilst we were there with traditional dishes of the themed country, also there was plenty of choice for the less adventurous ie home cooking. In the show bar or the pool bar there is lots of choice of drinks on offer with superb waiter service no long waiting for your drink as in our previous experiences, good quality entertainment in the evening or a quiet drink by the pool with piped music to relax too. All the staff are so friendly and efficient with nothing too much trouble, after a lovely relaxing week the only disappointment is you have to leave, but another visit is already planned in the not to distant future. Lovely hotel, shame about the area
Just arrived back, hotel staff very friendly and well trained. Room, (we had a junior suite), great, although decor very dated, very clean with a lovely view across the gardens and the golf course next door. We didn't use the outdoor pool as it wasn't great for swimming in and we are both swimmers. We were told it was cold and although there were more than enough sun beds, if you wanted one in a particular spot, then it was a case of towels down before breakfast! We did however us the indoor pool every day. Although this wasn't heated, we didn't' find it that cold and it was great for swimming, and we had it to ourselves most days. Grounds were exceptional and well looked after, although the pools around the hotel could have been cleaned better, especially the one directly outside the dining room. The restaurant staff were exceptional, anything and everything you could possibly wan is provided here, and if there is something that you would like that isn't there, then all you have to do is ask, the chef was always on duty greeting you on arrival as was the maitre'd. Victor was also worth talking to, a mine of local info and he is willing to take you out and about too -a great asset. For a Gold hotel, the entertainment was very poor, come on Thomson we know you can do better than this! The resident duo tried their best, but there was no atmosphere at all, and the Thomson team tried most nights but that didn't work either. We have had some great entertainment at other gold hotels, sadly not this one. As the hotel was in a fairly isolated position, there was very little to do unless you walked or hired a car. Yes the hotel put on a bus to albufeira and villamoar, but after that, apart from the walk to the beach there was little else to do. This is not a hotel to go to if you like getting out and about. We will not be returning, for that reason only, we couldn't fault the service of the hotel.More

The staff and extremely friendly and professional and cant do enough for you. The Hotel grounds are magnificent, the food each evening had a great choice and of high standard. One very small point the room could do with a little refresh as just starting to get tired. Recommend this Hotel for those who wish to relax, enjoy the activities and area.More
