The Hotel Falesia’s good-looking gardens set the scene for a terrace-framed pool and al fresco dining area. A 20-minute walk brings you to sandy beach, and some of Portugal’s best golf courses are nearby.

Still a relaxing holiday
My partner and I have just returned from the Hotel Falesia having spent 1 week there for the 5th time. We visited last year but I didn't review it as I didn't have much to add from previous visits. However I am happy to relate my experience this time. As mentioned by other reviewers the welcome at the hotel is still very warm and friendly, a cool drink was provided whilst checking in. The reception staff were friendly, informative and efficient. Everything was explained to us even though we were repeat guests. We booked a junior suite and I requested a high floor room in advance which we were duly allocated. We stayed in room 443. The suite really is a spacious and comfortable room. A large double bed (King size), a settee, 2 flat screen tv's, only 3 English speaking channels, dressing table with mirror and hairdryer, small fridge, safety deposit box, air conditioning, a good size balcony, bathroom with a bidet, walk in shower with an overhead rain shower. Tea/coffee making facilities replenished daily along with a litre bottle of water. These extras are all included in the price. I should point out that the fridge is more of a chiller in terms of temperature. Unfortunately our balcony contained a disused birds nest along with bird droppings all down one wall. Not a pleasant sight but we chose not to complain as it did not spoil our holiday. However we thought housekeeping may have picked up on it but not while we were there. The room overlooked the garden at the back and also the Pine Cliffs resort next door. We were very happy to see that the facilities on offer were all still there from previous visits as were some of the staff. There are ample sunbeds available but only until around lunchtime. We saw people struggling to find a bed in the afternoon as the hotel was full. The pool area is the most popular area as usual but we chose to sit in the garden area which is quieter. As always some guests choose to rise early to save their favourite spot. The pool bar gets very busy at times and the poor staff just cannot cope when it does. I should add they really do try. I cannot comment on the entertainment around the pool as we witnessed very little of it. The pool itself is very welcoming on a hot day because it can be pretty cold. Loved it myself. The food in the restaurant is always a welcome sight. Breakfast is buffet service and varied. Only one complaint about the breakfast, if you go to eat just after 8am as we did you will struggle to get a fried egg. They just did not keep up with the demand and one morning there was 9 people waiting. I gave up in the end. We tried to find a member of the management but there was no sign of them. I finally managed to speak to Angelo the head chef who apologised but unfortunately it was on our last day. Dinner is always a treat particularly gala night on a Wednesday. Some nights the food was a little samey but we always ate well. To be really critical I think the standard of the food has decreased a little but I repeat we always ate well. Bar service in the evening in the show bar can be quite challenging. Once again I believe the staffing levels are well below par. Entertainment: The resident duo called Panache are quite talented although I was surprised to hear them say they are in competition with the Atlantica Golden Beach Hotel in Cyprus to be number 1. We visit that hotel every year and have found their entertainment to be extremely professional and easily the number one team. I will review the Atlantica later in September. The 3 entertainers consisted of Harry, Jack and Megan. Harry undoubtedly carries the team with his infectious personality. Jack has a very good singing voice, Megan, although a truly delightful young lady is pretty talentless. The audience were quite sympathetic towards her especially when she couldn't hit the right notes, but this is Thomson Gold and the standards are set very high. Sorry Meg, this job isn't for you. One last gripe, on the Thursday of our visit at 9am we were stopped from entering the garden area because the gardener was mowing the grass. This took 45 minutes and many guests were kept waiting. This was unacceptable. Why can't the lawn be cut in the evening? Special mention goes to the following staff, Claudio bar manager, Claudia barmaid, Armen barman, Monique waitress, Philippe waiter. I cannot give any positive feedback about the Thomson reps. I attended the departure meeting and found it a complete waste of time. I was told nothing I didn't already know. Upon departure as we were about to board the coach the rep in reception totally ignored us all. Not even a goodbye. Also in the departure meeting we write all urged to grade the reps 10/10. I don't like to be told what to grade people. This request was also repeated by the lady in Panache. Unaccounted behaviour. No more moans. We still enjoyed our holiday and hope to return next year.More
Excellent gold hotel
This is a few weeks late , but better late than never. It was our first visit to the hotel falesia , as we had been promising ourselves we would come here for a few years. The hotel was superb , the staff were all friendly and the gold team were excellent. The restaurant was the best we have been in in all the gold hotels we have been to over the years. There were always tables available whenever we went down from early on to late. The choice was amazing , and there never seemed to be a queue for the food . The waiters all worked hard and were all very pleasant , the drinks came efficiently and the tables cleared quickly. The freshly cooked omelettes for breakfast were excellent. The room was excellent and the power shower was superb , everything worked , the air conditioning was a blessing and worked quietly and efficiently. We opted to book all our drinks to our room, which made it easy when in the hotel for drinks and snacks. If you do not drink a lot it is the best option. There was a free bus run by the hotel to the local beach , and into albufeira for a small charge. The pool and grounds were excellent with plenty of room and plenty of sun beds. There was quite a few shady areas , but we could have done with more parasols and small tables .The pool was very good and was very refreshing after a hard day sunbathing. The pool bar was very good with excellent drinks to hand. We will go back and I would recommend you all to go as well. More
Absolutely brilliant hotel with all the facilities that we needed. We had 1 week vacation with my husband and we chose this place because it is for adults only. Our room was very clean and interior stylish. Hotel is abit far from the center of Albufeira (not a walking distance!) but you could easily book a shuttle bus from the reception or ask a rental car/scooter. The location itself is really good if you are looking for more peaceful place than the center of Albufeira which is full of partying people. Falesia beach is in a walking distance if you dont want to spent all your days at the pool. Restaurants and few shops are near. Breakfast and dinner were also good and the staff at the hotel is really helpful and professional. Tui has ordered entertainers to the hotel and they organize different kind of shows and games by the pool. Not really something that we enjoy doing, but it was funny to listen! Highly recommended for a person who seeks easy and relaxing vacation place! More
