An excellent 10 day holiday, pre-season
We had an extremely pleasant holiday at the Hotel Falésia. We have been here several times previously, but this time it was particularly peaceful and cosy, with it being pre-season and not fully booked. The Reception staff (notably Celia Rafael, Sofia and Rui) provided great service and allocated us a room with a pleasant pool view. Since recent refurbishment, the rooms are superb, and the bathroom was very well equipped, with a power-drench shower. Daily house-keeping by Julieta was perfect. The breakfast and evening meals were top quality, with excellent service from all the staff led by Executive Chef Angelo, who was most welcoming to us. We recognised several staff members from our previous visits, for example Claudio (acting maître dâ) and Amelia who often served our dinner drinks. We did a lot of walks locally. For example we would catch the 12.00 hotel bus down to the Falésia beach, a four minute ride with a very competent and courteous driver. We would then walk along the beach, coming back up the cliff either at the Beach Club Pine Cliffs (using the wooden walkway and the lift up the cliff) ... or ... we would leave the beach (Praia do Barranco das Belharucas) at Restaurante o Golfinho and walk up the rutted and sandy road leading to Caminho do Depósito , which leads back to the main road (Estrada das Açoteias). We would then, typically, have a cheese toastie / snack / beer in one of the several bars on the main road â Brothersâ Bar, Hugo Tapas Bar, PastelerÃa O Berto or Erva Doce. On previous occasions we have walked along the beach to Vilamoura and returned on the Eva service bus. We also walked to the small resort of Olhos de Ãgua, down a sandy path leading from the Caminho do Depósito, past Rua Nossa Senhora de Fátima leading to the village of Olhos de Ãgua. Itâs a pleasant walk down to the superb beach, with its clean sand and fishing boats. These routes are easy to find on Google Earth. The Ticket Shop in Olhos de Ãgua is worth a visit â we booked tickets for the Saturday Gypsy Market in Loulé (â¬8 each, pick-up-point 09.15 the Piri-Piri Restaurant opposite Brothersâ Bar, return 14.00 from Loulé). The town itself was well worth a visit, especially with the Carnaval taking place that day. The market was quite humdrum, selling handbags, belts, cheap-looking clothes and general trinkets. We didnât like the aggressive stance of some of the vendors and we couldnât be bothered to barter. We were very fortunate with the weather â no rain and 18/19C every day (this being late February / early March, so most impressive). We therefore used the poolside loungers for reading and relaxing, before going for a pre-dinner swim in the indoor pool. And to cap it all, the management presented me with a bottle of bubbly on our departure date, because it was my birthday! So a thoroughly enjoyable holiday, and weâre looking forward to the next.More
Worth every penny
After reading some reviews I decided to book a junior suit for 3 nights in this hotel. The rooms were spotless and very spacious. Everything worked fine. The staff was very friendly. The food in the hotel was very tasty. On our last night they had a Brazilian night and the food tasted amazing. It was a very quiet hotel as it is adult only so we really had a great relaxing time. We went out to the beach and when we returned they had sent a free bottle of champagne and some fruits as it was my birthday. It was a great touch to a special holiday. Thank you to all the staff that made my stay very pleasant. I look forward to coming back soon. More
Most relaxing holiday ever.
My Husband and I stayed at this superb hotel for 10 days in July 2016 We had a Junior suite that overlooked the beautiful water garden area and got the afternoon sun. The room was huge and kept spotless by the very attentive house keeping team. Wine and fruit were waiting for us on arrival in our room and a fresh bottle of water was left every day. This hotel has excellent staff, who all go out of their way to make you feel welcome, they obviously enjoy working at the Falesia and it is clear they want you to enjoy your stay and we certainly did. However things to consider are the hotel is located in the very quite area, with a handful of shops and bars, so evening entertainment is limited and there isn't a sea front as such to walk along, if you are not particularly interested in cabaret style entertainment, which is provided at the hotel then you might find that you will have one or two early nights. We did find ourselves propping up the poolside bar of an evening being entertained by Armen who does make superb Cocktails (from the heart). Busy Albufeira is a short taxi ride away and the hotel run a courtesy bus there during the day if your looking for more shopping and bar options, but it is party central, and I was always glad to return to the tranquil and relaxed atmosphere of the Falesia. The beach is a 15 to 20 minute walk through the neighbouring Pine Cliffs resort with use of their outdoor lift, or by courtesy bus from the hotel which drops you at the top of the steep hill at the other end of the Falesia beach, it's worth going on Victor's organised walk so you learn the way through Pine Cliffs. Neither options are suitable for anyone with mobility concerns. The beach stretches for miles all the way to Villamoura. It's possible to find quiet spots as it's so vast. If you plan to walk along it check the time of the tides, walking is far easier on the firm wet sand when the tide is retreating. If your looking for a truly relaxing atmosphere and a chance to recharge your batteries in a stunning setting then you will love this hotel, as we did, but it won't suite everybody.More
High end 4 star hotel!!!
We have just returned from a short stay at this fabulous hotel. We have been frequenting this establishment for many years and it only gets better. The rooms have been fully refurbished to a very high standard with the bathrooms comparing to something you would expect to find in a 5 star hotel. We had amazing views of the pool and beyond from our room and special thanks must go to Carlos for this and making my wife's birthday such a memorable occasion. Although the hotel only offers a buffet style restaurant the standard and quality of the food is a real credit. I would defy anyone not to be able to find something they would enjoy as the choice is exceptional. The staff are so friendly and helpful with nothing being too much trouble to ask. Special thanks to the lovely Sofia on reception who was always on hand to help. I have stayed at many 4 star hotels in the area and nothing even comes close to comparing with the Falesia. We are already planning our next trip and look forward to meeting up with Carlos and his dedicated team later in the year. Keep up the good work.More
Fantastic week at the Falesia Hotel!!
My wife and I spent a wonderful week at the Falesia Hotel this last October. The rooms have been refurbished at the beginning of the year to a very high standard. Our room was really spacious with a fantastic bathroom and shower. We ate every night in the hotel and the range of food was amazing. It seems that there is always something for every taste. It's very reasonable cost wise and you can eat as much as you like. At breakfast the range of food was impressive with freshly squeezed Orange Juice. The pool area and gardens were lovely. We never had a problem finding sunbeds whether it be round the pool or in the splendid relaxing garden area. But for us what really sets this hotel apart from the rest is the staff, they are absolutely fantastic, so friendly and determined to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be returning!More
