  • Views of the harbour
  • Rooftop pool

Complete with a rooftop pool, this popular hotel stands right on Sliema’s seafront, offering spectacular harbour views of Valletta.
As its name suggests, this hotel stands on the waterfront at Sliema, offering gorgeous views over the harbour to the walls of Valletta itself.

Even the pool has a front-row seat. Take the lift to the upper level and you’ll find it - a rooftop oasis with a lovely pool and a big sun terrace. There’s an all-day bar here, too. The view is magnificent - a bird’s eye panorama over the walls of Valletta.

There’s more to the location, though. You’ve got Sliema’s bustling waterfront on your doorstep. St. Julian’s nightspots are also only a walk away through the backstreets. Also, regular buses into Valletta go right past the hotel and frequent ferries into the capital leave from a nearby dock.

Inside, the hotel is smart and modern in an unassuming way. Take the lobby. All pale wood furnishings and yachting pictures, it’s sleek and comfortable without being showy. There’s also a neighbouring bar where you can sit over coffee and watch the comings and goings on the waterfront.

The food is good as well, with everything served in the Regatta restaurant overlooking the harbour. Apart from the generous hot and cold breakfasts, the dinners here place the emphasis on succulent roasts and fresh fish. And when you fancy a change, book a table at ‘Basilico’. This mezzanine trattoria serves up fresh pizzas, grills and pasta.

Lastly, the rooms are excellent. They’re decorated in understated fashion with blue and white bedcovers and wicker chairs. All the extras are supplied, too - minibars and satellite TVs among them. The final touch comes from a balcony overlooking either the peaceful courtyard or the harbour.

Your guide to Sliema, Malta

If you like a little sightseeing in your holiday, combined with sports and good food, Sliema fits the bill. This busy – and still growing – town focuses on The Strand, a broad promenade with views of Valletta five kilometres away. Sliema’s shops are among the best on the island - look for Maltese lace, fine silverware, pottery, and woollens. When night falls Sliema’s bars and restaurants are relaxed and mellow in mood with a cosmopolitan feel.
