Hotel Riu Seabank

in Mellieha Bay , Malta T rating: 4

  • Family rooms
  • Fantastic facilities
  • Excellent dining options
"With the beach at its feet and Mellieha village within walking distance, the Hotel Riu Seabank has a prime setting."
The Hotel Riu Seabank is just footsteps from Ghadira Bay, Malta’s biggest stretch of golden sand. And although it’s in a fairly peaceful spot, Mellieha’s shops, bars and restaurants are just a ten-minute walk away. It’s a steep climb, so if you don’t fancy the hike, hop on a bus – they stop right outside the hotel.

In terms of design, the hotel is a modern affair with traditional touches. In the lobby, that means exposed-stone pillars and wood-clad ceilings dotted with spotlights. It gives the place a cosy, homely feel that carries through to the bedrooms. Cue lemon-yellow walls, terracotta-tiled floors and soft furnishings dressed in a patchwork of pretty colours.

Outside, there’s a good-sized pool that curves around a snack bar, whose roof doubles as a sunny terrace. There’s plenty more space for sunbathing over on the beach. It’s just across the road, with a gently-sloping shore and clear waters perfect for swimming and scuba diving. When you want a break from the sun, there’s a Roman-themed indoor pool. And for serious stress relief, there’s a wellness centre with a whirlpool bath, water therapies and a range of spa treatments that promise to pamper.

On the activities front, this place offers up a children’s club, games room, and even a ten-pin bowling alley. Factor in a choice of buffet-style, poolside and à la carte dining, and you’ve got a real something-for-everybody place to stay.
