'Like things lively? With its good-value family entertainments and rocking nightlife, bustling Bugibba hits the spot.'
If you want to pack as much fun into your holiday as possible, Bugibba delivers. One of several resorts along St. Paul's Bay in Malta's north, it bubbles over with activity, so you'll never be lost for things to do.
With its high-rise hotels lined along a modern promenade, it's pretty built up, so expect a buzzy rather than dozy atmosphere. Inside from the seafront, you'll find a lively main square crammed with open-air bars and restaurants. This is where most people start and end their day, chatting over coffee or beers whilst basking in the sun. Away from here, it's just a short walk to the souvenir shops and cafes along the waterfront, which promise to fill any unplanned gaps in your time.
It's here you'll find the flat rocks and platforms that suffice as beaches. Running along the seafront, they're excellent for soaking up the sunshine and swimming in St. Paul's Bay. Just plunge into the crisp, clear waters for an instant cool-off and to wallow in the sun-drenched vistas all around.
For a proper day by the water, take a bus to Mellieha Bay, with its smooth sandy beach, or jump into the fun and frolics at Bugibba's lido. And when you tire of lounging around, hop on a bus to Valletta or take the kids on a boat trip to the hauntingly beautiful Blue Grotto caves.
For nighttime fun, you're totally sorted. Take a table at a waterfront restaurant and then hotfoot it to Bugibba's casino, cinema or bingo hall. Then, if the night still feels young, live it up at the resort's lively music bars 'til first light creeps over the bay.

Bugibba's beach is rocky and consists of romantic, little coves. The nearest sandy beaches are about 8km away at Mellieha Bay and further afield in Golden Bay. The entire area is great for watersports.
Bugibba has a wide range of restaurants and cafes serving everything from traditional English dishes to Maltese specialities such as 'pastizzi' - savoury pasties stuffed with ricotta cheese, usually eaten mid-afternoon with a hot coffee, or 'bragioli' - spicy beef rolls.
Bugibba is a hive of activity after dark with a multitude of bars and clubs to cater for those with an appetite for a party. It also has its fair share of restaurants for those wanting a less raucous time, as does the close by St Paul's Bay with its more relaxed attitude to night time entertainment.
There may not be an abundance of plush boutiques in Bugibba, but this a great place for souvenir shopping.
Take advantage of the quiet north coast with some invigorating walks or relax on the tranquil sands of Mellieha Bay. Inland Mdina and Rabat are well worth a visit if only to escape the tourist throng by spending some time wandering the narrow and quiet streets.
