Balluta

The Balluta is the perfect holiday hideaway. An 80–year-old stone farmhouse, it's been lovingly converted and is full of character. We're talking arched ceilings. Exposed stone walls. And cool tiled floors. But as well as its traditional charm, there are also plenty of contemporary touches like the kitchen that comes with all the mod cons. Spacious, light and airy inside with antique-style wood furniture, the honey-coloured walls create a wonderful cosy glow. On the lower floor, there's an open-plan living and dining area with doors leading outside. Step up the spiral or external stone staircase and you'll find the three bedrooms, two of which are doubles and one a twin. It's a superb space for larger families or a group of friends. And you'll want to spend just as much time outside when you see it. At the heart of the Balluta is a sunny courtyard with a large oval-shaped private pool that has Whirlpool Bath jets. Flanked by sun beds and parasols as well as potted plants and flowers, it's the perfect spot to put your feet up. And if you want to get away from the splashes for a while, head up to the roomy roof terrace and soak up those lovely views.
