La Dolce Villa

An introduction to La Dolce Villa

La Dolce Villa was once the village school house but has been converted into a villa of considerable style and comfort. The old school gates, now electric, open to reveal the caffe-latte coloured family house shaded by tall umbrella pine trees.

Through the grand front door and to the left is the TV and play room with games, toys and videos for the children. Next to this room is the well-equipped kitchen and breakfast room, but the main attraction is the old classroom, now an impressive living-dining room complete with wood-burning stove, crystal chandeliers, a grand piano and a curved dining table. A double bedroom with wrought-iron king-size bed and an extra single bed coloured in regal shades of cream and gold can also be found on the ground floor, as can a shower room and bathroom (unusually located off the kitchen area due to the layout of the school). On the first floor is the peaches-and-cream boutique-style master bedroom and a triple bedroom furnished with three of the original wooden school beds dating back to 1917. A further shower room is located on the second floor.

We are uncertain as to whether the children who studied here were lucky enough to have a swim during their breaks but we can be certain that they would have revelled in the refreshing waters. One corner of the large pool has Roman steps, which double up as the spot for a whirlpool bath as there are hydro-massage jets which can be switched on when desired. The garden is a haven of tranquillity, sweetly scented with lavender where each can find their own spot whether it be under the sprawling branches of the conifer which shades a marble-topped table and bench seats adjacent to the barbecue and fish pond, or stretched out on one of the loungers on the pool terrace. A lawned area at the top of the garden makes a play space for children.

An added boon at La Dolce Villa is housekeeper Veronica who lives in Umbertide who will come in daily to clean at a convenient time to you.
