An introduction to Villa Il Melograno
Villas with their own swimming pools are a rare find in Tuscany so we were particularly pleased to find Villa Il Melograno in a superb location close to the medieval must-see hilltop town of San Gimignano.
The entrance to the villa is impressive, an electric gate welcomes you into the grounds and the driveway is flanked by lawns on either side and bordered by the quintessential cypress trees of the Tuscan landscape. The swimming pool is situated in the garden below the house and has a shower for rinsing off after a dip and a table and chairs if you choose to dine in this section of the grounds.
The three-bedroom villa itself is reached by a number of steps from the pool area and overlooks the pool and gardens. A covered terrace with outdoor dining facilities leads into the open-plan living-dining room with kitchen. On this floor, you will also find one of the double bedrooms and a shower room. An additional two bedrooms (one double and one twin) are located on the first floor where there is also a bathroom.
If you can tear yourself away from the privacy of your own pool, you are perfectly located for exploring all the delights of this area being roughly equidistant between Florence, Pisa and Siena and just a short drive from San Gimignano.
