An introduction to San Domenico Palace Hotel

Originally a 15th century monastery and now an exquisite deluxe hotel, the San Domenico Palace enjoys a superb position overlooking the Bay of Taormina with views of the imposing Mount Etna. Set in its own delightful terraced gardens with a swimming pool, the hotel is built around an inner courtyard and surrounded by arcaded cloisters. Leading off from the courtyard are various lounges and reading rooms should you wish to relax out of the sun. Wonderful antique furniture and objets d'art throughout the hotel create a special ambience of centuries past. The hotel piano bar is to be found in what was once the rectory, and the restaurant "Les Bougainvillees" is a beautiful room with large arched windows and an intricately panelled ceiling. From May to October breakfast and dinner is served out on the lovely terrace overlooking the bay. Due to the number of steps, this hotel is not suitable for the less mobile.
