Hotel Esperia

Designed by well-travelled owners to a high standard, Hotel Esperia lies undisturbed on the west coast of the medieval seaside town of Milazzo. Situated on a residential road by the lovely Tono beach, where the tuna boats used to bring home their catch, the hotel is just a few minutes' drive from the old town and offers fantastic views of the Aeolian Islands on one side and of Mount Etna on the other.

Comfortably furnished, the ten bedrooms, some with balcony and sea view, are all individually decorated representing themes inspired by Sicily's mythology, famous sights and flora. Amongst them are Etna, the Aeolian Islands and Polyphemus, the Cyclops as locals believe that the Greek mythological beast used to live in Milazzo. Breakfast can be taken either indoors or on the lovely outdoor garden terrace and snacks and drinks can be ordered at the beautiful shingle beach just across the road.

Milazzo's historical centre, set high above the town, is a delight to discover with its mix of Norman and baroque buildings, a 15th century castle and an excellent selection of bars and restaurants.

Further afield, the unspoilt Aeolian Islands are easily reached by hydrofoil or ferry. Numerous sightseeing opportunities are available just a short drive away, including the striking city of Messina and picturesque Tindari, renowned for its wonderful beaches.
