There are plenty of simple attractions about holidays in Abbasanta. This is the agricultural heart of Sardinia, a sleepy little market town with quaint stone houses and resident charm. It's not necessarily the sort of place you associate with discount holidays or late deals. But for those who like to get away from it all, holidays in Abbasanta have enough going for them to make paying a little more or booking early well worth it.
The Mandra Edera Hotel is the essence of the Abbasanta holidays experience. A beautifully restored farmhouse set in a picturesque, peaceful location, it's the sort of place where relaxation is almost compulsory. What's more, you can get into the swing of traditional rural Sardinian life. The chef is happy for you to sit in on a cookery session. And during the grape harvest you are welcome to help out and see how the local wine is produced.
Many people who holiday in Abbasanta want to do as little as possible – or less. But if you get itchy feet, there are plenty of places to explore in the local area. Just outside town there's a good example of one of Sardinia's famous nuraghe (stone burial chambers), this one dating back to a couple of years BC. And this area was also a hive of activity in Roman times, so you'll find plenty of ancient remains scattered around the countryside.
