And the beach goes on…Marina di Ostuni gives you everlasting pleasure under the sun and the stars
Picture this view. You're lying on an almost empty beach, curling your toes in the pale sand under a clear sky. Out of the corner of your eye, you catch the shallow turquoise waves spraying gently over the jagged volcanic rocks. The sea sizzles as it draws back, only to send another wave in to cover your feet with warm water. This is one of the endless beaches you can explore from Marina Di Ostuni which heads a stretch of beaches some 20 km long. Perfect for jogging along in the morning if you need pepping up. And when you are on the beach, you could even build your own trulli. These distinctive dwellings with whitewashed walls and conical roofs pepper the Puglian landscape and give the countryside a fairytale- like feel. You would have to build yours out of sand of course! After all the hard work of building your mini-castle, take a walk around the marina and smell the plentiful catches of the local fishermen in their nets. Then lunch in one of the seaside restaurants on turcinieddi, a lamb dish with parsley, vinegar and bay leaves while watching the boats nodding at you in the harbour. The nearby hill-top town of Ostuni, a tumble of dazzling white-washed houses and shops, is only 15 minutes away. Once the sun falls away over the olive and vine-clad hills, get your sequins out. At night, the beach comes into life and you can boogie the small hours away at the Summer System discotheque under the stars.
