Hotel Conca Park

in Sorrento , Neapolitan Riviera T rating: 4

  • Large swimming pool
  • Contemporary public areas
  • Conveniently located
A great location and contemporary interiors are just a couple of the standout features at the Hotel Conca Park.
At the Conca Park, you can really make an entrance. Entering from the Via Degli Aranci, you’ll be whisked through a tunnel on an electric cart. Winding its way under a citrus plantation, along tiled floors and past display cases, it’ll bring you out in the impressive lobby.

Here, clean white lines and marble by the quarry-load are offset with LCD TVs mounted into pillars and contemporary photography. Oversized vases, glass doors and plenty of mood lighting create a space that seems effortlessly cool, even playful – a funky Italian fusion of classic and cutting-edge.

Elsewhere, the good looks continues in the coffee lounge and restaurant. The restaurant even boasts one of the largest panel paintings in Italy. Great service, buffet breakfasts and à la carte dinners finish the package. The coffee lounge, meanwhile, bathes under a skylight and its chic wicker furniture, access to the sunny terrace and trendy little touches are straight out of an interior design magazine.

Outside, there’s the pool scene to consider. No prizes for guessing it looks good – deckchairs line the terrace like a mini-riviera, while the pools themselves have minimalist-style shapes, separated only by a small bridge. There’s a pool bar, too. Alternatively, if getting outdoors means exploring, you’re less than a 10 minute walk from Sorrento and its authentic slice of Italy.

Your guide to Sorrento, Neapolitan Riviera

“With buzzing Vespas winding through narrow backstreets and red chillies hanging from shop doorways, Sorrento offers up an authentic slice of Italy.”

One of the first things you’ll notice about Sorrento is its location. Sitting on a cliff that drops sheer into the sea, the town overlooks the Bay of Naples and has a view of Mount Vesuvius to boot. The dramatic coastline gives way to sunbathing platforms and the occasional small pebbly beach where you can soak up the sun. Sorrento life revolves around Piazza Tasso, where tables and chairs spill out of coffee shops onto the cobbles. Here, take your seat to watch the street theatre that is Neapolitan life unfold. By day, nonnas sit crocheting while old men put the world to rights in a flurry of animated hand gestures. By night, the square comes to life with trendy twenty-somethings en route to the late night bars. Away from this lively meeting place, hop on a tour bus to nearby Pompeii or take a stroll down to Marina Piccola and set sail for chic Capri. Closer to home, saunter along the exclusive Corso Italia in search for that all-important pair of designer shoes. And don’t miss the old town where you’ll find a rabbit’s warren of alleyways laced with old-world antique shops and trattorias serving regional specialities. Talking of food, eating out in Sorrento is a delight. From pizzas cooked in wood-fire ovens to heaped platters of seafood linguine along the harbourfront, there’s plenty to tempt you out for an al fresco meal under the stars.
