Boasting a superb beach, Pizzo is a romantic town made up of side streets lined with boutiques and restaurants that open out into a main square or 'piazza'. While the majority of our properties are located just outside the town, this picturesque resort has lots to see and do including a romantic castle built in 1495 that overlooks the sea. For a truly humbling experience visit the church of Piedigrotta. Burrowed into a natural cave, it was constructed by sailors thanking the Madonna for saving them from a shipwreck. Mostly the work of a father and son, it's filled with quirky monuments chipped into the stone.
Pizzo is just the ticket if you're looking to experience the Italian way of life - the main piazza comes alive at night with locals enjoying an ice-cream or a liqueur as they take their evening stroll around the town.

Pizzo has a small, swooping sandy beach overlooked by a castle. Don't be surprised to see some colourful small fishing boats drawn up on the shoreline. Pizzo is also well placed to explore the intimate grottoes around the coast - you could hire a boat to find your own little piece of paradise only accessible by sea.
Pizzo is not only a destination for holidaymakers - it's also a thriving fishing community. As a result there's ample opportunity for you to try the catch of the day in some of the restaurants down by the port. However, you simply can't visit Pizzo without sampling its famous 'tartufo' ice-cream. Tartufo is a ball of chocolate ice-cream with a zagbaglione centre, dusted with cocoa powder and is said to have been invented in Pizzo itself. Simply 'delizioso'!
As the sun drops behind the horizon, the sky erupts into a palette of oranges, reds and pinks. Full of romantic restaurants and cafes with tables and chairs spilling out over the street, Pizzo's main square is the ideal spot from which to view sunset.
You'll find a number of Italian boutiques in the main piazza and hidden away in some of the quaint side streets - linen suits and dresses are particularly popular. Some shops sell local food produce too with jars of chutneys, honey and big bags of pasta on display to tempt you.
