Hotel Contessina

Gorgeous gardens, stylish interiors, and a great pool scene - the Hotel Contessina is every inch the relaxing Greek getaway. The location also gets top marks. There's a sandy beach close by and Tsilivi's a five-minute walk away.

From the outside the Hotel Contessina is pretty traditional looking – all pastel-coloured walls and wrought-iron balconies. But head inside and things take a modern turn. In the lobby bar for instance, retro floral wallpaper sits alongside a spot-lit ceiling. The bedrooms are just as stylish, dressed in different shades. What’s more, they come with in-room extras like TVs, air-conditioning and fridges.

Outside, the pool is framed by a roomy sun terrace peppered with loungers and parasols. Pad across the terrace and you’ll find lawns dotted with olive and cypress trees. Plus, there’s a sandy Blue Flag beach nearby.

On the food front, things have been kept pretty simple. Think fresh salads, bar snacks and a wide variety of cocktails, all served up by the pool. For something more substantial, you’ll need to head into Tsilivi itself which is about a five-minute walk away. And when you want to turn the entertainment factor up a notch, Zante Town is well worth a look, too. It’s a ten-minute drive and there’s a bus stop within walking distance of the hotel.

Nice, but not if you value your sleep

Stayed for a week end June, beg July. Pretty, clean apartments as others have said. We didn't use pool area as its only 5 minutes walk to beach and the pool, area was very crowded, beds very close together and area small but it did look clean. Breakfast was ok, very simple and the hot food was occasionally a bit odd but nice to have a coffee machine; time your breakfast well as area is small and it gets very crowded. Well located at one end of the resort. The big problem with these apartments is if you get the wrong room, as with other reviews we really struggled to sleep for the noise and this ruined our holiday - we couldn't wait to get home. We were above reception, room 202, which faced the road and was both next to a loud independent bar next door and in the noise tunnel from the hotel bar. The independent bar does turn its music down about 1am but you can still hear it, everyone shouts as they leave and between 1.30am and anywhere up to 3am you get all the waiters and staff from other areas on their mopeds beeping horns and racing up the road you are on. In addition, the hotel bar stays open as long as guests are willing to drink (6am on one occasion following a wedding) and the noise from that travels alongside the building to the room. We (didn't) survive on about 4 hours sleep a night. Reception were not interested when we discussed with them. Aircon - we paid for this one night but it either didn't work or he allocated to room 212 in error - I reported this at 1am and asked for money back but he informed me we couldn't have our money back as it had been 'registered'. He did offer to come to our room but by this time I had truly had enough. So, visit by all means but ask for a room in the block at the back of the hotel or a quiet room.More

Don't expect to much..

In general it was OK hotel but no more then that. I booked in the last minute and was willing to pay the high amount regarding other hotels in Tsilivi and expect maby to much as I read here. The water in the shower sometimes in the evening not warm enough. The bed wasn't comfortable for me & my husband and we changed room but still. And the most annoying thing is that there is no towels for swimming pool. We had to buy them but we couldn't wash them before using.(home was to far) As I said, I had high expectations :-( I had to say that breakfast was nice and all the workers in the dining room work with love.More
