Gorgeous gardens, stylish interiors, and a great pool scene - the Hotel Contessina is every inch the relaxing Greek getaway. The location also gets top marks. There's a sandy beach close by and Tsilivi's a 5-minute walk away.
From the outside the Hotel Contessina is pretty traditional looking – all pastel-coloured walls and wrought-iron balconies. But head inside and things take a modern turn. In the lobby bar for instance, retro floral wallpaper sits alongside a spot-lit ceiling. The bedrooms are just as stylish, dressed in different shades. What’s more, they come with in-room extras like TVs, air-conditioning and fridges.
Outside, the pool is framed by a roomy sun terrace peppered with loungers and parasols. Pad across the terrace and you’ll find lawns dotted with olive and cypress trees. Plus, there’s a sandy Blue Flag beach nearby.
On the food front, things have been kept pretty simple. Think fresh salads, bar snacks and a wide variety of cocktails, all served up by the pool. For something more substantial, you’ll need to head into Tsilivi itself which is about a five-minute walk away. And when you want to turn the entertainment factor up a notch, Zante Town is well worth a look, too. It’s a ten-minute drive and there’s a bus stop within walking distance of the hotel.
We came as a family on 3rd July to celebrate my son's wedding. We loved it so much that on return I immediately rebooked to come in October as a couple. The hotel is lovely and clean with wonderful staff. The location is perfect. We met many people who return year after year and I can see why. We shall certainly come back.More
Great Hotel - Great Stay - Efharisto
This Hotel had been recommended by close friends - who had enjoyed many excellent Holidays at the Contessina - they were absolutely right. It is easy to see why this Hotel attracts so many returners.
There are many things to like about the Contessina - its cleanliness; its facilities; its location; its pool; its breakfast and snack bar; its value for money and its ,bar. However its biggest asset is its wonderful staff - whether reception, cleaning staff or bar/catering staff. They fully understand customer service - are friendly without being intrusive - and were faultless throughout our stay.
The Hotel is within easy walking distance of Tsilivi Beach, the Main Street and numerous restaurants and bars. We particularly enjoyed eating at the Olive Tree & Benikos, snacking/drinking at the beachside Boomerang Bar & partaking in a cocktail or two at the Sunset Boulevard next door to the Hotel. A taxi ride to Zante Town is â¬10 or less if you use the local bus service.
If we return to Zante - I would have no hesitation in returning to Tsilivi and the Contessina.More
Perfect hotel for a relaxing stay in Tsilivi!
Stayed at the Hotel Contessina on a fortnight's stay as part of a Direct Holidays package on our first visit to Tsilivi. The hotel is situated just off the main road that runs through the resort on the way to Planos and Tragaki. The main sandy beach is a leisurely 10 minute walk away and the centre of the resort an easy 15 minute walk along the main road. There is a good choice of cafes, bars, shops, supermarkets and restaurants just on the doorstep of the hotel.
The hotel's accommodation is set in three buildings that surround the large swimming pool. We were allocated Room 510 situated on the first floor at the rear of the hotel. it was a spacious twin room with a balcony that faced onto the pool area. The room was freshly decorated with modern furniture, flat screen TV, fridge and ample storage and wardrobe space. The rate for use of the air-conditioning was 7â¬/night and use of the fridge 3â¬/night. We found the room to be quiet and comfortable throughout our stay. The only minor criticism of the room was the somewhat small bathroom and shower cubicle. We found it manageable but those of more ample bodily proportions would find use of the shower and toilet a challenge. The issue may be specific to this particular room.
We stayed on a B&B basis. The choice and quality at the buffet breakfast was very good with the provision of a typical "full English" each morning as well as a choice of cold meats, vegetables and cheeses, croissants, rolls, cakes and breads, Greek yogurt and fruits. Personally, I would have liked to have a greater choice of fresh fruit as there was usually only a selection of apples, pears, oranges and grapes. Some varieties of melon and some fresh figs would have been nice as we saw them growing in the fields around the area. The layout of the tables in the breakfast area can be somewhat cramped particularly during busy mornings.
The staff and service at the hotel were faultless. From the welcome at reception on arrival, to the friendliness of the waiting staff at breakfast, to the domestic staff that keep the rooms and public spaces perfectly clean and spotless, to the entertaining bar staff, to the efficient and "always on duty" gardener/handyman/repairman. The air-conditioning in our room stopped working one afternoon, we reported it to reception by phone and it was repaired and back in working order within the hour!
We spent most days at the beach but did use the hotel poolside on a few occasions. It is a quiet, secluded oasis of calm with an ample number of sun loungers and a pool large enough to enjoy a good swim. In late September, there were areas in the sunshine until the early evening.
We found Tsilivi to be a lovely resort for a relaxing holiday with a clean sandy beach and a good choice of restaurants and tavernas in which to enjoy traditional Greek cuisine. We particularly enjoyed dining at the restaurants Ideal, Appolon and Tsilivino as they were all small, family-run and focused on providing excellent fresh traditional local dishes.
We will return to Tsilivi and will definitely stay at the Contessina.
Our first time in Zante, hotel was lovely, staff very polite.Everything was very clean and tidy.
We had a pool view second floor room.which we requested via email before we arrived.
Breakfast was great, brilliant selection, something for everyone.we hope to come back again in the future.
The only negative point was there was a dog nearby which would bark starting from about 6.15 am some mornings.so there was never a lie in for us.other than that we had a brilliant 10 night stay!More
This hotel was one of the best. As the coach stopped to drop us off, we were so happy and relieved. The maid came daily and everyone were so helpful. The location was spot on , right by the beach and shops and restaurants. I would recommend this holiday to all ages.
I will defiantly go back.More
