More dinky village than residential estate, the Rizolia Villas sit on a private road, edged by chunky walls. There are ten villas in total and each one is an identikit replica of the others. Think two-storeys of stone-built simplicity set in landscaped gardens, and you get the picture. Not only have they stuck to the sugar cube shape that's authentic to these parts, but they've left much of the original landscape intact, too – twisted old olive trees still stand in the grounds.

In a nod to tradition, they come with terracotta tiled floors, floor-to-ceiling muslin drapes and open stonework. Built-in white sofas and mismatched cushions add a modern vintage feel. Meanwhile, antique-look dark wood furniture and white beamed ceilings complete the picture.

The rooms are spread over two levels with one double and one twin bedroom upstairs, as well as family bathroom. Plus a furnished balcony runs the length of the house. Downstairs, you'll find an open-plan dining area, living room and kitchen, and there's also another double bedroom and a second bathroom.

But the real standout feature is the pool area. Behind each villa, there's a covered patio, perfect for al fresco meals. It opens out on to neatly trimmed gardens, where the pool takes centre-stage. Big by villa standards this stretch of turquoise is fringed by a small terrace with sun loungers.

As for location, the Rizolia Villas couldn't be in a better spot. They sit just outside Lithakia, surrounded by olive groves and open countryside. The beach is a relaxing 30-minute walk away. And there are a few tavernas and shops close by, too.
