Just returned from a last minute deal of 11 nights to Zante, stayed at Hotel Laganas which was great.
The staff are the friendliest ever, from Daxis the manager, Alex the bar tender to Petro, the night manager, all take time to get to know you and have plenty of insight in where to to go for good food etc.
The rooms are simple and this is reflected in the price, the beds are very comfortable with nice pillows. The shower is very powerful with no shortage of hot water, even late into the evening.
The rooms are kept immaculately clean, we asked for extra pillows on arrival and they were handed over with a smile.
The food is also to a very high standard, the missus and I normally head out for breakfast but we ate there most days, full English breakfast for around £3.80!
Laganas is a party area but this hotel is 15 minutes away from the madness which is helpful for when you need your zzzz's... It is set in gardens which are very private with a large car park at the front should you rent a car, don't bother with the quads, they are slow, noisy and dangerous, grab an open top jeep, far more fun and a lot faster too.
Granted we stayed out of season, we can imagine it is much noisier in July / August so if you are a couple who does not like the noise, prob best to avoid these months anyway, September is a great time to get away here if you like it a little quieter.
We will definitely return to this hotel, not least because the staff were so helpful, a couple of small issues we identified were dealt with immediately and extremely satisfactorily.
Air Conditioning is available for around £7 per day, don't be put off by this, all hotels charge for this service, we paid £11 per day in Crete last year. Safety deposit boxes are available, they are opposite the reception desk which is manned 24 hours, they are also covered by CCTV. In terms of security, there is a night security guard who looks after the grounds of the hotel, not that we encountered any issues but it's always good to know that someone is keeping an eye on things.
In summary a great base to stay, simple rooms that have everything you need but by far the best feature is the welcoming family environment you enter into when you stay here, we will certainly be coming back! More

Got here on the 8th September and didn't really know what to expect to be honest because their was mixed reviews. I had an absolute blast. Rooms were pretty basic but we didn't need a big room, we rented a fridge which was good I think it was 35 euros for the week. Met bill the rep canny lad, we didn't go to any of the party's or anything and he was still fine with us so I expect its the way you are with him. Owners are really lovely and alex and pedro are so funny and welcoming!!. It is literally 10 minutes away from the aiport, 15 mins walk to the strip and 5 mins walk to the local supermarket. Couple of good restraunts near it too. Some of them do a starter main and unlimited drinks for 15 euros which is good. Would totally return to this hotel, met some lovely people and had an amazing week!! I'd say this hotel was more for the younger generation but could be good for family's too. The weather was so nice for September still really hot. Had a day where it rained and thundered and lightening but that was it, rest of the week was fine. Can get quite noisy the walls are paper thin also a rooster that starts every morning at 5am and it is quite loud. rooms were cleaned daily too.More

Yet another great 2 weeks at this hotel, pool is really good, also kiddies pool where they can splash about. It has had new rooms built this winter so is expanding to accommodate more people who want to stay there.A new restaurant has been added also.Food is of great quality and is competitively priced, service is excellent too.All the staff are good at what they do keeping you entertained, or if you prefer to just chill by the pool or on your balcony.More

Just returned from a weeks stay in Laganas which will definitely not be one to forget.
The hotel is made for younger people with 9 of us staying being 19/20. The hotel is kept clean along with the pool. The rooms are very basic with only 2 plug sockets! They were cleaned pretty much everyday unless we were still in there asleep after a night out. The room we stayed in did not have aircon which was slightly disappointing but the heat was bearable at night. You can pay extra for things such as fridges, fans and safes. We were 10 minutes from the airport and it was about a 15 minute walk to the strip but you can order a taxi from the hotel which is about â¬6. The food and drink at the hotel is relatively cheap but there is a shop which is round the corner. All the staff are very friendly who work there and always willing to have a chat especially Pedro after a night out on the strip.
As soon as we got there the rep Bill was trying to sell us a wristband for all the events for the week which was about â¬250 but in the end we only ended up buying 3 events as we didn't want to be doing events every single night! Would definitely recommend the paint and boat party's!
I would recommend this hotel if you're going on a holiday with a group of friends, looking for a basic hotel to stay in and willing to walk a little to get to places.More

Laganas hotel - a place for people who party
I have just returned from a week with my boyfriend at the Laganas hotel. This review is written with mixed feelings, because I had a lovely holiday and the family/staff at the hotel were really nice people, BUT, I cannot say I would return to the hotel simply because of the other people who stay there. I am not a person who goes to bed early and who doesn't enjoy a laught but I do expect people to be respectful and not act like school kids, which the clientele here most certainly don't understand. I will elaborate further after I name all the good things this place has to offer.
Positives: This hotel is in an excellent location and is really close to the beach and the main part of Laganas. The beach is lovely and the umbrellas and loungers were a lot cheaper than on other islands.
Staff are very friendly and the reception is manned 24hours.
There is a car park of you want to park your hire car, which we did.
Decent bathroom and shower with constant hot water.
The breakfast was served quickly.
Pool area was very clean and quiet in the daytime, plenty of umbrellas.
Strong and powerful air conditioning, although for £10 a day, you would expect so!
Negatives: the hotel caters for Young, partying Brits who have no interest in Greece or Zante, but want to go out, get drunk and return at breakfast time and spend all day hungover around the pool. For this reason, the pool and hotel are very quiet in the day and VERY noisy at night. There were people banging on doors, shouting, screaming and making a lot of noise. The hotel has tried to stop this with signs and staff at night trying to keep the peace but at 530am most nights i was woken up and I am a very heavy sleeper. We also could see a used condom discarded on the ground outside our balcony which we found pretty grim.
The breakfast is cooked to order and is all 'British'. English breakfast, chip butty, egg on toast, beans on toast. When I asked if they had anything Greek, like yogurt, the owner replied, 'no, we cater for English people'. This sums everything up perfectly. If you want to go abroad to drink cheap alcohol all night and sleep at a pool all day enjoying English food, then I recommend this place. If you want to enjoy something more Greek, go elsewhere.
With regard to respect, because many of the guests have none, you have a lot of surcharges etc to deal with. For example, on arrival, we had to hand over £50 in case of damages. The rooms had a list of expenses for broken or damaged intems including sheets an towels with makeup & broken furniture. This made me feel very cautious about using anything. Furthermore, the towels were old and NOT good enough for use in a hotel. I have thrown out better. I expect there is no point in the hotel buying decent stuff if the guests ruin it but I would have liked a soft towel that was not greying with age. The safe was a security deposit box in reception, for which we had to PAY £15 for the week which was not refunded. Rooms are inspected upon checkout for damage prior to deposits being returned which is fair. Continuing with this theme of bare essentials, the room had no tv, no wifi in rooms and no fridge which pretty poor when you are paying bed and breakfast and the temperature is 35degrees.
I feel bad writing this because the hotel could be a dream come true, but the people who stay there make it less appealing. I must emphasise that I did enjoy my holiday and the staff and breakfast were nice.
Zante is lovely and famous for turtles. Don't go on a turtle spotting trip which distresses the turtles and pollutes the sea. Go to the harbour at the end of the beach between 6-830am And you can touch and see the turtle that lives in the bay for just a few euros donated to the fisherman who feed him daily. He lives in the harbour and is the only turtle we saw when we went on a trip.
A trip to keri caves to swim is worth it and we enjoyed snorkelling and swimming in the fluorescent blue waters. It was lovely. We hired a car and enjoyed visiting the other beaches and parts of the island which had lots of interesting fish unlike Laganas beach.
Mini golf was a laugh in the evening and there are so many shops, but many sell the same souvenirs. I must recommend paradise bar, a wonderful place with pretty gardens with a fountain and lanterns in the trees serving delicious cocktails made with decent ingredients and for cheap prices. The owner is lovely, was keen to give us tips on where to go and what to do as she is from Zakinthos and speaks excellent English.More
