With a golden sand beach, a flurry of fish restaurants, and precious little else, Skala Rahoni is a paradise place for a castaway holiday. Tucked in a bay on the island's northwest corner, the village is delightfully undiscovered and purposely passed-over by the party people. So much the better for those in the know who relish its tranquillity. And you can enjoy some local discovery without changing the tempo… unless you count taking things even slower as a change of pace. Just up the road, at the very tip of Thassos, Pahys is a glorious sandy beach – reached via a path through the pine trees, past a trio of tempting tavernas. About 4km inland from the port is the parent-village of Rahoni, where a handful of cafes and tavernas cluster around a quaint central square. You could catch a bus for the short hop south to Skala Prinou. But, based in this out-of-the-way resort, it's probably worth having a hire car so that you can find even more out-of-the-way hidden gems.
