Pefki Islands Resort

This is a relaxed spot next to a sandy beach, with a pair of pools to recommend it.

Location-wise, things couldn’t be better. Steps lead down to a sandy beach, and the hub of Pefkos is 5 minutes’ walk away. In the same time, you can be at the local bus stop for trips to Lindos and Rhodes Town.

It’s all about the pools here. The hotel has two of its own, and with a pair of sister hotels as your neighbours, the count rises to five. Between them they offer swim-up bars and a poolside restaurant that’s highly rated.

This hotel is part of our 3T favourites range until April 2017.

Lovely Holiday

We went to Rhodes in July and had such a lovely holiday! We thought it would be 'small and friendly' as classified by Thomson but when we arrived, we found out it was more like a resort as there are two other hotels next door that you can use all of their facilities. There is 5 pools to use- our favourite was island Blue as it was much bigger! The beach is a 5-10 minute walk, the water was crystal clear. There are many sunbeds to choose from but if you arrive after midday you probably won't get one. The hotel room was lovely, plenty of space and clean. All three hotels eat at the same restaurant for breakfast at island blue, it has a good selection of buffet breakfast but we are glad we chose b&b- there are many restaurants in pefkos, a very busy town for Greece, there are modern restaurants but also tavernas if you walk down the side road towards the beach. You can get to the Pefkos restaurants by walking down the beach but we recommend to walk through the front entrance of Elia as this is much much quicker and easier. Please try the popoular restaurant 'Dama Dama' (taverna down the side street towards the beach). It is very busy but worth the wait, the restaurant is family run and the food is amazing, our favourite meal out! Our other favourite was 'enigma' opposite Nostalgia which had lovely food. It is also recommended to eat when it is dark to avoid insects and the heat, it gets dark around 9pm so the average time of people eating was later than at home! There are many excursions to choose from, there is a place called 'impress holidays' and many others down the road in Pefkos (about 5 minute walk down the main 'strip'). They offer prices much cheaper than Tui/Thomson and often more things included into it! We recommend the glass bottom boat, there is signs for it all around town (this isn't through impress holidays) we asked reception to call up to book and they were more than happy to help and book a trip for us the following day. We did the three bay cruise and it was AMAZING, the water was so blue and clearer- even more so than Pefkos beach. It was a funny and relaxing trip and a good way to see a bit more of Rhodes, the best part was when the boat stopped in the clear waters and we jumped off the little boat into the water!! We went to Lindos in the evening as it was too hot in the day for us, we ate a rooftop restaurant (which they all mainly are) and had a lovely meal. It was much cheaper than Pefkos and the taxi was 20 euros return which we booked from hotel reception. There are donkey rides there which was upsetting to see, many people are against this and is not recommended. You can walk up yourself to see the view and ruins, so if you cannot be bothered to walk then please refrain from using the donkeys. There are many cats there but Rhodes vaccinate and feed as many as they can. There are cat feeding stations which you can leave dry food out and there are cheap cat biscuits and cans from the local shops. The lunches at the pool bars were lovely, we loved the club sandwiches! We paid extra for aircon but we found out that island blue prices include aircon so we spent the same amount of money approx. overall so consider this when booking. island blue is the 'superior' hotel but we was happy with Pefki island. Overall, we had a lovely holiday as a couple and would recommend it to everyone.More

Pefki Island resort

We have just returned from a two week holiday at Pefki Island Resort on 1st August. Our previous 3 holidays were on the same complex but we normally stay in the Island Blue hotel. I have to say it was not worth the cost saving to stay at Pefki Island, it was so much noisier and by the time you paid for the Aircon etc it felt it was a mistake on our part to have taken this option. The complex is still as beautiful as ever with the use of all the sister pools. The grounds are immaculate so clean, maid service and staff are brilliant as always, but unfortunately our balcony faced the pool which was noisy.we had a couple of large groups stay whilst we were there. They sneaked around at 2am in the morning saving 10+ sunbeds every night. Then each day you couldn't even get to the pool bar as this had been overtaken. Hence a trip to the beach every day instead. Three nights there was no water to the hotel right on peak showering time 5 - 8pm approx and when you are covered in sand that didn't make life very easy. Pefkos is a beautiful town and next time it will be Island Blue Hotel again. I would not recommended Pefki Island if you are a couple only. Fantastic for families and groups. To top it off Rhodes airport is a bloody nightmare. Hour cue to book in, then another 45 mins cue to drop off luggage. Literally just made the plane Saying all this still one of my favourite Islands and will return again More

Lorraine C,

Booked an escape from London immediately after the school term ended. Thomson made the booking easy and as we booked earlyish, there was some discount involved. The trip was wonderful overall and the resort was hard to fault. The receptionist called Jana was lovely and helpful on arrival as well as little things like getting a new iron, etc. The room was spacious enough for the 2 of us and was always kept clean by the housekeepers that were always smiling and ready with a 'Kalimera' (good morning). Nice balcony with no direct sun, thank God because it was 35 degrees every day and enough is enough! My only complaint is that while tremendous effort was made to the detail of the exteriors, It seemed that the tiles in the bathroom were fitted by an accountant, instead of a tile expert... It's annoying that we had to pay 126 Euros for the Air Con, and then a further 48 Euros for the Safe. The Elia Restaurant was beautifully designed and we NEVER waited for a table. The food was a great mixture of Greek and International cuisines. The portions were actually too much, and we often couldn't manage to finish. The Greek cuisine was fantastic and the Head Chef was nice enough to come out of the kitchen and thank us directly for a compliment paid to him one particular night. The waiting staff were always very friendly and very quick and helpful. The Hostess was always gracious and our waiters helped to make this a great dining experience. Breakfasts are varied and there are hot and cold to choose from. Great eggs and omelletes, as well as Greek yogurts and fresh fruit. We tried Half Board for the first time and actually felt a bit guilty because of all the great food they put before us. The Beach at the resort is also BRILLIANT, and the water is usually very calm and swimmable for those who have any fear of turbulent seas. My partner and I were ecstatic to find this beautiful CLEAN, CALM, soft smooth sand beach just a short 5 minute walk from our room. Other beaches in the area are of course lovely as well, like Saint Paul and Lindos and Tzambika beaches, but one needs a car or local buses to get there. Rented a cute little car from Bill at the HP car hire which is next to the reception. Got a rate of 40 Euros per day which included ALL insurances, including excess. Bill was very nice and was helpful with directions and suggestions of his favourite places. A little tip is that you turn off the air con while attempting to climb very steep hills (there are quite a few) as the air con eats up most of the cars power, then turn it on again when on a level surface... Other than this, the car and the service was very good overall. If the power issue bothers you, then you have a good assortment of more expensive and more powerful engines to choose from. We took a couple of excursions booked through Thomson and were not disappointed. We did one called Tale of 2 Cities and went to Lindos, walking up the many stairs to the very historical Acropolis, then off to Rhodes Town, both the New town and the Medieval walled in old city. We also did the Rhodes Town by Night, which included dinner. The tour guides for both trips were very well informed and gracious. The entertainment at the hotel was MUCH better than expected and always got us out and often on our feet dancing. The bands / singers were very well trained and gave surprisingly good performances. None of that Bingo malarchy you find at many hotels... Abba tribute band was great, as were the Drifters...etc. Pefkos is one of those typical beach towns that crop up out of necessity, so there is nothing particularly interesting to see or do there, so get a car for a few days and see lots of very cool and interesting things like The Butterfly Valley, The Olive Factory and a lovely couple who own The Savvas Ceramics shop, where Savvas himself gave us a demo of just how easy it is to make a pot on the wheel...Brilliant place and of course we came away with a couple of superb little pieces of ceramics. His wife spends her day painting the kiln dried pieces, and you can see she loves every minute of it. Great variety of finished pieces, well priced. A very lovely holiday...Could definitely return...More
