A mixed bag...
The hotel is very impressive looking once inside, and the grounds are beautiful with a fantastic outlook. Our room was a swim up which meant we didn't have to search for a sun lounger that had been bagged at whatever crazy hour of the morning people seem to feel the need to do so, We had our own on our little terrace - the sun hit this till early afternoon and then was shady which for me was fine as i'm not a big fan of cooking myself! I'm sure others would find this a negative though. I would recommend the upgrade as its a quieter block, away from the main building and its separate pool was never busy. The room was nice, clean and when we arrived hungry after a late arrival we were pleased to find a sandwich had been provided for us in the fridge, a nice touch. The Spa was very good, if a little pricey, but we had a very nice treatment each. The food was of a good standard and fairly well varied - we went half board so swapped our evening meal for lunch a few times - I recommend heading into Rhodes old town for dinner at least once, its only 3.50 euros on the local bus and well worth the trip, the local resort also has a few nice eating places and all in walking distance, The secret lounger beach cabanas are lovely, they cost 45 euro but are comfy, you get a fridge, water, sparkling wine, fruit, beach towels etc...... A nice way of spending a day at the beach. So that's the good stuff...... for a 5 star hotel I wasn't overly impressed with the service - I feel what the hotel offers and what it actually delivers doesn't always match up. There was some confusion with our request for a late checkout leaving us wondering if it was actually booked for some days and then being triple confirmed by different members of staff unnecessarily. I rang to ask for an iron and ironing board so we could do some shirts for dinner ( the dress code is adhered to in the restaurants which is nice ) to be told that wasn't possible but I could walk to reception for a key to the 'ironing room' - I have never come across this anywhere before and considering our room was some distance from reception had no desire to lug a bunch of laundry over there with me - so we opted for the room collection pressing service, filling in the next day express service section on the form which was to cost more. The shirts didn't appear the next day and when we rang to enquire as to their whearabouts we were informed that although it says they do an express service they actually don't so the shirts would be with us the following morning instead ( they weren't ) - no apology. Both myself and my husband came out in an allergic rash which by process of elimination had to be either the pool water or whatever detergent the bedclothes are washed in. The restaurant has a rather canteen feel ( except the nice area outside poolside ) and piped music plus a constant clattering of plates did not give a relaxing ambiance. The entertainment consisted of the same duo most nights and really could have been more varied. All in all we had a lovely holiday, but felt there just a few too many 'niggles' for a five star establishment.More
this hotel has the best service i have ever known, nothing is to much trouble for the staff. and the entertainment is second to none. it is paradise, i have been twice and both times i could not fault it. i would reccomend this to any couple wanting just that little bit extraMore

"Fabulous 5 Star Hotel"
We have just returned from a 14 night stay in a fabulous 5* Hotel and can highly recommend the Atlantica Imperial Resort in Kolimbia, where nothing is too much effort for the staff. The holiday was booked through Thomson on a half board basis but upgraded at the hotel to fully inclusive for â¬32 pp per day which is excellent value. (Although booked through Thomson, this review is not a review for Thomson holidays, it is for the hotel only) On stepping through the door , we were greeted with Champagne/Carva and finished check in in a very short space of time. (fastest check in I have ever done). Taken to our room which was a Junior swim up suite as the holiday was a wedding anniversary treat. The room was large, clean well decorated and surpassed our expectations. Waiting on the table was a beautiful bunch of 2 dozen red roses, Chocolates and Champagne which I had arranged with the Guest Relationship Manager 'Chrysa' 2 days before arrival as a surprise for my wife. The start to a perfect 14 day holiday. The swim up suite as has been stated does loose the sun in the afternoon, but not until 4:30 - 5:00pm, if you want more sun then a short stroll down to the main pool where by this time there are a number of empty loungers for you to continue to sun yourself if required. The food in the main restaurant was plentiful and varied, catering to a wide spectrum of tastes, impeccably cooked and refreshed on a regular basis, (non of the food sitting out for a long period of time here). The staff were pleasant, attentive and friendly and a special mention to Anthanisis (Mr 'parakalo') the Maître d who has a warm and charming personality must be made. His exuberance certainly rubs off on his staff, another favourite is Kiki and Carolina. We were always made welcome in the restaurant. The hotel has another 2 restaurants, which is were you can go for a treat. Atlas which is the Ala carte restaurant and Mylos a more Greek orientated restaurant, out of the 2 we preferred the Mylos and Vasili and Karisa 2 of the waiters were marvellous and nothing was a bother to them, warm and friendly, which is probably why we ate there a couple of times, The food was beautifully cooked and as stated by other visitors the steak melted in your mouth. You must try this restaurant if staying there. Out of the 2 our favourite was the Mylos. The drinks at the lobby level or at the pool bar were always available and staff again were pleasant and helpful. a mention for the pool bar team must be given, especially to Ivan, Alex and Viron, they work tirelessly every day but still maintain the friendly service. The town of Kolimbia is a 2 minute walk., where there are a number of shops and Taverna's on the main street. Please be aware that this is not the only street in Kolimbia and if explored does open out to more taverna's and shops that are off the main street, I did note a reviewer had stated that there was not a lot there, but!! there is. My final mention must go to Chrysa the Guest relationship manager. I have nothing but admiration for her as she is the most helpful person I have come across in the hotel industry. Nothing was a bother to he,r she is professional, warm and approachable, and will for ever be in her debt for arranging the wedding anniversary treat which made it truly memorable. All credit to Chrisos the hotel manager for nurturing a warm, friendly and professional attitude from all his staff. This is why the hotel gets a number of repeat visitors year after year, which will include my wife and I. As we do not normally revisit the same location the following year, as we enjoy exploring different islands, we WILL be staying in an Atlantica Group hotel somewhere, and will most likely return to Kolimbia in 2016. Overall - the Atlantica Imperial is a great resort and I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation. Its in a great location located between Rhodes and Lindos, both easily accessible and with some great members of staff who will do their upmost for you to have a memorable holidayMore

Lovely hotel....Boring atomsphere...not 5 star...
This review is going to be extremely detailed...SO booked the holiday through Thomson we went as a family of four, as soon as we got off the flight our coach transfers were waiting- could not fault the transfers (coach was fully air conditioned). After passing through the other hotels I was panicking because none of them even looked 3 star standards. Upon arrival the hotel from the outside does not look wow. As we entered we were greeted with a welcome drink (can I note the two women found something very amusing, and started giggling like children which was not professional) the porters who had to take our luggage out the coach were not 5 star they were too busy talking to one another and in the end my brother had to take our luggage out of the coach. So as you walk in the lobby area is lovely and I knew that I had made a good choice. We then had to wait to be shown to our rooms in the blocks of the 300's. Rooms- The rooms were nice and clean and we had our own robes and slippers waiting on the bed. We had a full sea view room which was lovely; the rooms were spacious and were located near the main building so was not too much of a walk. The bathroom was nice but I think the shower in the bath can be updated. The shower itself was not powerful and the temperature would fluctuate from being hot to cold so this let the hotel down. The fridge in the room is not very cooling it just about keeps drinks at room temperature. Every day we had our rooms cleaned and the maid was lovely!! The WiFi in the rooms was rubbish, youâre better off staying in the lobby area for this, rooms are supposedly fully air conditioned but itâs not that powerful. Food- Going on a half board basis NO DRINKS ARE INCLUDED NOT EVEN WATER! For a 5 star hotel they canât even give out water? Itâs a pricey 2.7 euros which is ridiculous and if you want something more like a beer the prices increase even more. The food itself was located in the "Agora Restaurant" The food was AMAZING there was only one night when the food was not nice but apart from that I cannot fault it, the soups were lovely they had a different theme on every night and the desserts were lovely!! Only thing that let this down was the service most of the staff are very young and did not know what to do when it got extremely busy around 8-8.30pm. The service was not at a 5 star standard. Also one evening the guy who works at the lobby bar decided to ignore all the guests waiting and took his "favourites" and seated them which we found was EXTREMELY RUDE, this annoyed many of us as we were all waiting in a queue. Unless the manager who ran the restaurant was there things do not run smoothly. Pool/Beach Area- The pool area is lovely, breath taking with the cliffs in the background. Please note that the rules are not to reserve any sun loungers when there were people waking up at 5 am reserving there sun loungers, so by the time you come to find one there is not any available around the pool area so you have to find some on the grass area. You are also given a towel card in which you collect your towels from the spa at no charge and can change them 3x. Can I also say how expensive the spa was around 70 euros for a body massage??? The beach area is NOT private. The first day we arrived we were excited to check the beach out please be aware its open to the public meaning a lot of children. The beach is not very sandy either and full of pebbles so be sure to take your flip flops also the sun loungers are NOT FREE you have to pay 4 euros each for the whole day!! So we stuck to the pool area. The only entertainment around the pool was aerobics in which was dull and boring and sometimes a live singer would be around but other than that it was like everyone was scared to make any noise so there was just no atmosphere. Staff- Some of the staff were extremely nice like Zoi and Matrisse, Can I say that the workers all spoke very good English but it was like they were told not to speak Greek to the guests it would have been nice if they used more Greek words to greet you in the morning etc. as this is a huge part of their culture.. Zoi taught me a few words each morning! Thankyou Zoi!! The reception staff were ok some thought they were better than you and gave you minimum information and some were very snobby. Tips for being half-board- GO OUT AND EXPLORE KOLIMBIA DON'T STAY IN THE HOTEL ALL DAY!!! The atmosphere is amazing here the locals are so friendly and they really look after you. The entertainment at the hotel in the evening is not 5 star so after dinner we went out. Go and buy your water at "Edem supermarket" cheapest water 1.65 euro for 6 bottles! Every lunch we found a restaurant that was a 2 minute walk called "Carrusel Restaurant* AMAZING AUTHENTIC GREEK FOOD and the owner is so friendly! Do go and visit him, he really looks after you! Thomson reps- You will be given a meeting time in the ballroom it was pointless and unhelpful, you have to find things around the hotel yourself, they do not tell you simple things like there is a shop in the hotel or that you have to pay for the beach sun loungers where the main restaurant is. Instead they try and sell you very expensive excursions DO NOT FALL FOR IT prices are much cheaper if you book before, we booked the Mamaris day trip to Turkey with Attraction world through Thomsons it was brilliant and only cost £39 per person whereas when you get to the hotel and you book the same trip its around 70 euros! Also the locals do their own trips to Lindos and Rhodes itâs so much cheaper as to Lindos there's a boat that goes for 15 euros and a taxi to Old Rhodes is around 60 euros there and back which is much cheaper than what the Thomson excursions were charging! At the end of our trip we were delayed 11 hours now the Thomson rep said she did not know the initial reason but this was all a lie. We were first told that the delay was 6 hours to then 8. Luckily we demanded a room so we had to check out at normal time and the hotel offered us a suite free of charge this was so nice and were extremely thankful for the hotel for doing this, we had the suite til 4pm in which we then had to check out and make do with the lobby area which was far better than waiting in the airport. We were also given a free ticket for either a lunch or dinner meal. Really they should have given both as we were not prepared for such a long delay. We then chose the dinner meal and the hotel manager came over and apologised for the delay...which was very kind and gave us a free bottle of wine. We then were told "our plane was on its way" from the Thomson rep so she waved us all off with happy smiles.....to actually find out our plane was further delayed so she lied. The Thomson rep was not a 5 star hotel standard. We waited a total of 5 hours at the airport .I will not book with Thomson again as there reps are rubbish at the hotels. ALL IN ALL the hotel itself was lovely the atmosphere needs improving and some of the staff need to be at more of a 5 star standard. Itâs lovely if you want a relaxing lazy holiday.More

When we arrived at the at the outside of the hotel, we thought it looked a bit small, then once inside the reception area it was amazing. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, looked after after all the guest, our cases were taken to our room. We was shown where our room was, once inside the room it was dark so we opened the curtains, could not believe how clean it was light and and spacious, the view was out of this world it took our breath away, we stayed in room 140 which had a sea view. Which I would recommend, the hotel and grounds were very clean, staff working all the time to maintain this. The restaurant 3 choices of which part u would like to dine or have breakfast. Food spoilt for choice, you did have to watch where you going as everyone was looking what to have to eat. If you want to sunbathe you have to put your towel on the sun beds early, which some people did early as 6.am this was by the pool area but there plenty of places around on the grass area. Entertainment good did not have to fight for a seat bar staff very good in both bars. I would recommend to go halfboard as I think this restricts you from going out on day trips, also branded drinks are not included and some of the cocktails. We went half board and was surprised how cheap our bar bill was. Went to the local supermarket to get our lunch and some drinks. We loved this place so much that we are going back in October . We were only here in August can't wait to go back Debbie and NigelMore
