Just back from two week holiday with our 8 year old son . Had been in Rhodes in 2012 and had passed resort on a boat trip and thought how amazing Kolymbia looked. The Hotel room was a nice size and very clean and the cleaner was extremely pleasant. The hotel food in main Restaurant was the best we have ever had in many years travelling with Thomson with a large selection. My wife is vegetarian and usually struggles but generally had a good selection to pick from. The snack bar was also very good with a large selection of food, ice cream, fresh fruit etc. There was also two a la carte places you could use but you needed to book. We found the best time to eat was either early or late otherwise it was pandemonium with people having no respect for others. The waterpark was very good and was rarely overly busy and our son loved it. The pool area was very good and very safe for our son with various areas with different depths of water with none too deep.. There was a large grass area with plenty sunbeds if you do not fancy the pool surrounding area. There was a beach but it very quickly went from shallow to deep which was not really for younger kids. The evening entertainment was not the best but the entertainment team worked extremely hard. The biggest disappointment for us was the drink. Not so much the plastic glasses or paper cups but the quality of drinks. We do not drink a lot on holiday but like a beer or glass of wine at night but they were really poor. The soft drink quality was also very poor and had little or no taste. This was fine during the hot days when you are looking for something cold and wet to drench your thirst. We ended up buying bottles of juice to sit at the evening entertainment.
Our son loved the daytime entertainment with water polo, table tennis and football some of the activities for kids with Zumba and aqua aerobics for adults. We had a situation where our son was being bullied by older boys and the Thomson reps handled it professionally and quickly. Our son loves the kids club and attends a lot of sessions which were plentiful and well organised. There were some sessions where you had to pay but they were well worth the money and kids were fed. The Thomson reps were again as always amazing and our son did not want to come home. The hotel staff were extremely friendly, professional and did a fantastic job. Overall we would love to return to the Hotel as it was a fantastic holiday but the standard of drinks would put us off. This was the general opinion of many we spoke to.More
we stayed here for our wedding with family and friends for two weeks in September.
Could not fault the rooms and hotel itself, most staff are fantastic and go out there way to help every one.
On the day of the wedding our wedding coordinator was off sick so Kellie and Lauren made our wedding day perfect we could not fault a thing. Marietta did not even mention the wedding or congratulate us on any occasions when she seen us after our big day which we found very rude as we had several meeting with her prior to this.
We are also still waiting for our wedding certificate 5 weeks later and are not receiving any replies.
All in all the wedding was fantastic, thanks to Lauren and Kellie, the hotel and food are fantastic.
I would recommend a wedding here however make sure you have your wedding certificate before leaving. More

Exceeded our expectations!
We have just returned from our 1 week of all inclusive at the Atlantica Aegean Blue hotel and we had a fab time! Initially we flew out (as a couple) not really expecting much but in desperate need of a break. We booked to go roughly 4 months before our departure date so there was a lot of time to plan things and to do some more research. We were optimistic of some of the comments noted on trip advisor about the hotel and did wonder how well the hotel would facilitate for a couple aged between 22-25 as to appose families etc - however we were not let down!
We arrived late at the hotel but were still warmly greeted by the staff, providing us with drinks on arrival and food still being served if we were hungry. The staff were more than helpful the whole duration of our stay and I must state that our cleaners in particular were amazing! The room was serviced daily and was always left spotless! We can honestly not fault the service provided by staff from the second we arrived - to leaving! Just great!
The hotel itself is modern, fresh and again very clean! There are so many facilities for everyone on the hotel grounds and there is plenty of information on excursions. There are always staff around reception and Thomson reps at hand. The main restaurant has an impressive choice of food - there is something for everyone! Very tasty and a lot of attention being made for presentation! Besides the main restaurant the pool bar serves food and drinks most of the day too - and its all included under the all inclusive! There is also a lot of choice there - such as Greek pitas, baguettes, pizzas, burgers, salads, fruit pots, ice creams etc. - they cater well for everyone! The only fault we have found with the hotel itself and again everyone is different but we weren't that impressed with our one night at the la' carte restaurant. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff were all great but we personally found the food portions too small and we thought the taste of the food was not that impressive. We waited until an 8.30pm slot for our meal and we left still very hungry - and we are not the biggest eaters! I think also as feedback to the hotel - I would definitely note that they should make it more clear in the La Carte' restaurant about what is included under the all inclusive deal and what extras you have to pay for if any? We were quite confused looking at the menu so just kept it simple but im sure if we had asked a member of staff they would have been more than helpful about what is included in our all inclusive, about extras etc. I think also that having an open la carte' right next to the entertainment stage wouldn't suit everyone as you would associate most la carte's with being a more relaxing environment but hey it is what it is! And we don't regret our night there - it just wasn't as impressive as maybe what we expected? Especially after having been to the main restaurant most nights which we much preferred.
The hotel itself is located in a quiet area, if you walk around the block of hotels there are little tourist shops and places you can buy food - roughly 5 mins. However we found a place with a lot more shops, bars and places to eat another 10 or so minutes walk away. So if you get there and think ok this is maybe abit too quiet for what im use too? just know that there is a lot more just abit more of a distance to walk - but its nothing more than 10-15 minutes! Just use the main roads as a guidance that lead along the coast/ sea and you will get there! There is also buses running every hour, lots of car hires by the hotel and taxi services so the transport is there! We took a trip to rodos town for 3.50 euros one way per person on the bus - so that's ideal. The bus stop is literally opposite the hotel too!
Besides everything mentioned there are beaches nearby! Walking distance! With Atlantica's own shingle beach very literally on the door step! The beach was the main highlight for us and we are from a place In wales surrounded by beaches! Yes ok it is a shingle beach but honestly its not that bad and there is still lots of sand! The waters are clear blue, out of depth you can still see the bottom and there are sunbeds allocated all along the beach for 4 euros a day. Also there are food and drink facilities for you and for the more adventurous people there is a wide selection of water sports!
A lot of the facilities and entertainment at the hotel are aimed for the families and children so you can expect to see a lot of children etc around - but for us as a couple travelling we still had a great time. If its purely relaxing you are going for then I would say that it probably wouldn't suit you as much. The pools were always busy with children - we stayed away from the pool areas and just found more space on the beach. There were often children running wild around the reception - even later on in the evening and when you are trying to eat, have a drink or just walking around the complex in general. We all know kids will be kids but it can be annoying when there are children misbehaving in the sense that is effecting other peoples holidays. We found that a lot of parents were letting their children just play anywhere they wanted too- jumping around, distracting other people etc ... whilst they sat at the other side of the lobby or room not taking much notice and having drinks. But obviously this isn't being said for all families - only the minority!
The hill/mountain at the side of the hotel is definitely worth checking out and walking just from the incredible views from the top! Outstanding! It is abit of a steep trek up there and the ground is unsettled in the sense that the stones move as you are walking on them but honestly its all worth it when you get up there! Another highlight for us! So that's pretty much everything covered from our stay - I thought Iwould give a detailed review and to help other people reading this! * We stayed in room 2210A with a sea view - wow! How lucky were we! I think we had one of the best rooms for views after looking around the complex, a real treat to wake up to and sit on the balcony!
I'm sure if you've booked to go to the Atlantica Aegean Blue you will not be disappointed 10/10 value for money! A lot of memories made and hopefully will return one day in the future!More
We have just returned from Atlantica Club Aegean Blue and had a lovely time there. We booked a family room and this was a good size and very clean, although a bit dated in decor. It had a sliding door partition that offered some privacy and separated the sleeping areas. We had a ground floor room with a good sized terrace, 2 sun beds and a table with 4 chairs.
During our stay we didn't encounter any difficulties and our 9 year old son had a fantastic time and made friends from different countries. The children's facilities were great and our boy participated in football, water polo and loved the swimming pool. The pool was really cold but we managed to brave it and great fun was had by all. My partner enjoyed archery, French boules, darts and some other activities. Other activities included Zumba, Aqua fitness and a few other things.
The hotel has a water park that you can use and we went there most days. Adults and children seemed to have a fantastic time on the various slides. For the end of season the hotel appeared busy. Everyone we met seemed to enjoy themselves.
We also really enjoyed our stay and felt that the hotel was extremely clean with lovely, friendly staff. I was particularly impressed by the food. As vegetarians we often struggle with choice but to our delight, we found that they had a vegetarian section with 3 choices and others also within the main buffet all marked with a 'V' to let you know it was suitable.
In terms of drinks, we thought the wine on tap was fine, as were many of the other drinks. However, as some other people have said, some tasted watery and not very nice, particularly the pina colada.
We travelled to Rhodes town one day by local bus and this was very easy and reliable. The old town is pretty with little cobbled streets and lots of shops. It takes about 30/40 mins to get there.
Overall, we had a lovely holiday and I would highly recommend this hotel to others. It has a 5T rating by Thomson and I would give it this for the facilities on offer. The rooms are not luxurious as you might expect from a 5T hotel, but I think the rating has been given because of the facilities on offer.

This hotel was wonderful. We arrived late due to a delayed flight, but even though it was early hours of morning we received a great welcome and were offered food. We were taken to our room, the fridge had water and soft drinks to see us through the night.room was comfortable and very clean. The food in hotel was plentiful and good quality. Snack bar food was good. All inclusive drinks were good. I can recommend the atlantica special cocktail. Asian restaurant was a treat. Never a shortage of sunbeds. Plenty for children to do. Special mentions to Jess and James who were both very helpful. Yiannis in the pool bar and Linda in the terace bar, but all the staff were lovely smiley and friendly. Beach access was easy and nice and clean. Water was clear and warm.Altogether a wonderful experience. I certainly recommend it.
this hotel to everyone.More
