Fun, Family Holiday
We spent a week at the 'Atlantica Agean Blue' for a family holiday in July. Our group comprised four adults and two children who were less than seven years. This is important because whilst this was not our usual type of holiday, as a group we departed having had a most enjoyable seven days, particularly the children, despite a few problems at the beginning. The key positives for us were the adjacent, free Water Park, and the nearby beach. The kids and the 'young at heart' adults had a great time on the various water slides, which we visited every morning. After lunch back in the hotel we then went our separate ways, either to the hotel pools, which were generally very busy from early morning, or in our case the beach, or even a siesta, until the temperature dropped around 4pm. The two family rooms we occupied were very good, large, well maintained with a comfortable bed and large bathroom with separate bath and shower. The separate sleeping area which had two single beds, made the room ideal for a family of four with two children. We were lucky and had a second floor room with a balcony looking over the coast, which was much appreciated in the afternoon after the morning's fun on the slides. The negative for me was the self service restaurant which became frenetic during the busy mealtimes. We managed two meals in the a la carte restaurants -the Eastern (which was very good), and Italian (which was not so good). The other negative for me was the pool area which became very crowded from early morning, despite there being five interlinked pools. The evening entertainment program was good to the kids, but on the majority of the evenings, poor for the adults. In summary this is an ideal hotel for a family holiday with pre-teenage children.More
First class family holiday
From the minute I arrived the staff were friendly and patient with 3 very tired children. There was a good variety of food in the self service restaurant. You were shown to a table and the staff were happy and smiley and friendly. The Italian restaurant was excellent and worth a visit. The lay out of the resort was good and made you feel comfortable and confident the children were in a safe environment. The room was spacious and well maintained, with a fridge and kettle. The children's club staff were excellent and took time with all the children. I would recommend this hotel to anyone with children of all ages.More

Some improvements, many things remain excellent, some minor quibbles
We returned from the Atlantica Agean Blue in the early hours of this morning. It was our second visit, which indicates some consistency as our last review two years ago said in the title "We'd go back", and we did. When we went two years ago, we were overwhelmed by the care taken by the Atlantica staff, their attention to detail, professionalism, their help and the happy way they go about making sure all the guests are made to feel special, and in particular children. This hasn't changed, and I can't praise their attitude highly enough. I have always been impressed by the hospitality of the Greeks, and this visit further proves this. Food I've seen comments from some contributors to Trip Advisor stating that the food is gets repetitive. Well we went for 10 days and can honestly say the only thing that was repetitive was its consistent high quality and choice. The many theme days, Mexican, Oriental, International (an excuse for a Sunday roast - lovely), Greek, Mediterranean, Gala, etc, etc, was brilliant. My favourite night was the oriental, closely followed by Greek night, but every day there was an amazing choice, as there was at each lunchtime in the main restaurant too. I was initially a little disappointed by the snack bar, which has changed since we last visited and now does burgers, chips, gyros, etc, as we used to get a decent salad there each lunchtime. But to be fair, the food we got there was well cooked and proved useful for a quick bite for the kids between kids clubs. So what I thought was a negative, turned out to be positive, and instead of eating in the snack bar most days we ate in the main restaurant which always had an amazing choice. I arrived in Greece weighing 13st 10lbs and weighed in today at 14st 8lbs. Putting on 12 lbs in 10 days speaks volumes about the food whilst the fact that my 3 year old and 7 year old never had a problem finding something to suit their palates ( and we didn't even use the kids food area of the dining room) tells its own tale. Drinks Some people on here claim the drink is watered down. I cannot offer a qualified opinion, but I will say that the local lager beer (Vap) was fine, and the spirits I drank tasted correct to me,. With the whether last Monday (bank holiday in the UK) being close to 39c, I needed to stay hydrated so same days didn't drink alcohol at all. I like the "Summer Drinks Trolley" that now beings drinks to your sunbed. A nice new idea and it worked very well. Bar Areas Bar staff were all superb. It must be so hard to retain a smile in the heat we had, especialy when certain nationalities barely know how to use the words "please" or "thank you" - (bitte or danke - I think), but they work their socks off and retain good humour all day. Pool Areas The pools are a good size, are well maintained, and the sunbeds are in plentiful supply. I got up dead early first day (7am) to see what the lie of the land was with the sunbeds, and soon realised you were fin even up until after 10am. So I didn't do that again. The staff are out at 7am hosing off paths and cleaning up the whole area. They do a good job. Bedrooms Out number one gripe really was our room. We had a family room, in the northern part of the main hotel building (up the stairs from the lobby bar). Our view was not great. We looked at a 4 foot wall, which had in front of it what appeared to be some sort of concrete pit. It was the same for all those on our floor on the North side of the building. We got no sun ALL DAY and a view of wall, hedge and a bit of the neighbouring hotel. Last time we went we stayed in a similar class of room and were above the main entrance and got sun all afternoon. It was disappointing that people paying the same as us were getting some sun whilst we got no direct light all day. Likewise, out corridor led out on to a fire escape, which had become an official rat-run for anyone to open to get quick access to the pool areas. This mean the fire escape often clanked open at odd time of night, then swung shut with a loud bang. Likewise, people shouted without any consideration along the corridors at silly hours and some kids used the corridor as a part of their hide and seek games. Very noisy and denied us much sleep, as did the idiot above us who let his child bang wall and thud around in some sort of chasing game that he joined in with until about 1am each morning. The walls did seem very porous and let in more noise that we previously remembered. To be fair, the cleaning was excellent, the bathroom spacious and clean and they had good storage space. The beds too, were comfortable. Entertainment I really don't know what people expect. Quite why some people leave negative comments about entertainment put on by people who are essentially kids club organisers and sports coaches is beyond me. No, the entertainment put on each evening by the Thomson/Tui staff was not as good as 2 years ago, but in no way to it spoil our enjoyment. I've seen worse, I will see worse again, but it was in the main enjoyable, and the outside acts brought in (The Drifters, Il Divo and Beatles tribute acts were great, as was the African acrobat group. Kids Clubs The Thomson kids club team were amazing, Quite simply, I can;t think they could have been any more thoughtful caring or helpful. My two kids were made to feel so special and they enjoyed every single thing they did. I am a Primary School teacher, and I used to work on summer playschemes 20 years ago, so I know what an effort they put in. All the team, and their Thomson bosses should be VERY proud of their work. My 3 year old referred to the girls as his ladies all week. I think he's missing them today ! Gripes The biggest problem we had all week was with the attitude of certain other guests. - The idiot with his twins who got bolshy and constantly swearing at anyone who asked his kids not to spray water at them because, in his words "it's a kids pool". He even thought his kids had a right to spray at very young baby in a pram ? - Why do people have to be told 5 or 6 times that their children should NOT BE ON THE STAGE ? It irks me that parents were actually putting their kids on the stage after the announcer asks people to get their children off the stage. - People who push in to queues. Certain nationalities were bad at this and this rudeness speaks volumes. - Wasps, of which there were few, didn't sting anyone that I saw, but they were getting more numerous by the day and bigger. They don't do the British was thing of constantly annoying you, but they might be a problem next week. Overall though, a fantastic 10 days. We would go again, but we're trying another Atlantica hotel next year. We hope it can match the Agean Blue.More

The waterpark was the main draw when booking this holiday and it didn't disappoint for the kids, very good. The grounds, hotel and rooms very well managed and clean, staff extremely friendly. Food fantastic, lots of choice, something for everyone. Beach was a mixture of stones and plenty of sand, with clear water and good for snorkeling. Main swimming pools rather small, overcrowded and had a problem finding a sunbed every day. Entertainment at night was not up to scratch sorry, shows mainly put on by reps and staff miming along to music, the greek music and dancers good, but generally not what you expect of a 4*+ hotel. 1 hr transfer on average from/to airport which was fine. Outside the hotels in the resort of Kolimbia it's mostly barren waste land, with no local entertainment, or bars, a good walk to some tourist shops. Poor choice of excursions from Thompson, they seem to be cutting back trips to experience the culture of the island and sight seeing (especially the west side which is very scenic into the mountains). Easy to catch a bus to Rhodes town, less buses to Lindos. Hiring car best option. I would consider staying here again at some point may be.More
I would recommend this holiday resort to anyone. The staff were friendly and the hotel very clean. The food in the restaurant was of a very high standard and plenty to choose from. The pool area was lovely and in general i cannot fault this resort at all. Everything was wonderful. Management were always visible and very attentive. 10/10More
