It's the pool scene that turns heads at the Atlantica Aegean Blue. A turquoise number complete with water jets winds its way around the grounds, snaking under little wooden bridges. The real talking point, though, is the mini waterpark that's brimming with tubes and slides. You're also just footsteps from the beach, so you can swap pool for sea in seconds.
Elsewhere, there's plenty in the way of sports and activities. As well as favourites like beach volleyball, there are things like canoeing on offer. And special attention is paid to smaller guests at the Thomson Kids' Club.
The hotel itself is made up of low-level buildings separated by gardens, so expect a village-like vibe. In the bedrooms, calm vanilla tones strike a contemporary note. If you've got the children in tow, family rooms come with the option of sliding doors, giving you a little bit of privacy.

great time, v.good entertainments team @ Atlantica Aegean blue
Date: end of July 2013 - Family of 5 - kid - 10,7,4 - 1 week stay Would totally recommend this place!! ACCOMMODATION: We booked two separate rooms as all the large rooms were taken when we booked. When we arrived we were told that we had been given a large room which was a great start!! along with the welcome drinks and friendly staff. SWIMMING POOLS: Great graduation pool for the little ones (my 4 year old learnt how to swim) brilliant slides and lazy river - lots of fun.. FOOD: lots of options throughout the day - good quality at each sitting - waffles and ice cream at pool side with slush puppies is a nice touch. DRINK: standard local stuff as usual at these places, is ok - you have to pay for the good stuff imported stuff. ENTERTAINMENT: Day time entertainment with Tees/Rob and the gang is great, they make you feel at home and at ease not too pushy (best I've seen!!) stuff for adults and kids - water polo, football, volly ball watersports on the pebbly beach night entertainment could be better - I think the team are willing just need some inspiration - stage is a bit small and dated.. SUMMARY: Its a good place - I think its prices accordingly, Nothing was bad but there are places with better food, accommodation and evening entertainment but you will pay for that.. pools, slides and daytime team are worth every penny. hope this helps and you have a good time thereMore

Retrospective Review from 2013
Last year was our second trip to this Hotel, and we would definitely return for a third time as the resort only gets better. The Hotel lobby is clean and spacious with plenty of staff on duty. The restaurant is very well run with beer and wine etc available along with a very good quality selection of food. The outdoor terrace is superb for late meals in the evenings, along with the a la carte. We have had a garden room on both sides of the resort, both being very clean, quiet and comfortable. The bar staff were exceptional to us especially Mick, Lynda and Seva. They did recognise us as returning guests, but everyone is treated with respect here and Mick and Lynda have worked here since the Hotel opened and do their utmost to please all nationalities. The waterpark was a new addition on our last visit and is a great addition, in our view. Generally this resorts only niggle is the little pebbly beach isn't too great, but the swimming is glorious. The pool is huge and with the waterpark to wander to as well it's a great choice for couples and families. We are definitely considering a return this year dependant on the prices.!!1More

Don't believe the negative reviews
After reading some of the negative comments on here and as a regular visitor to this hotel I had to put some of the damming comments to rest! The hotel is lovely, clean and welcoming with the most amazing staff who Carn't do enough for the customers!! The rooms are clean and housekeeping come in daily, the pool area can get busy but the hotel have additional sun beds in the garden areas by the pool, we stayed here before the water park was built and again since and the only negative I can suggest is that in peak season the hotel staff are overworked, maybe a few extra employees would help,? But other than that this is a wonderful place to stay with children, from John Travolta (aka Nikos) in the restaurant who is amazing with the little people to Linda, leftery, mikalis, seva working in the bars and the brilliant reception staff we want to say keep it up guys you are fabulous and we will definitely be booking again :-) thank youMore

Atlantica Aegean Blue
On arrival we were warmly welcomed at front reception, we checked in and our bags were taken to the room. We arrived late in the evening and were offered food in the dining hall, this was a nice touch as we were all hungry after the long flight and transfers. We stayed in one of the newer family rooms which were excellently appointed with a separate sleeping area for our 12 year old daughter. The room looked out over the whole complex and was sea facing, there was little noise and the pool view amongst the palm trees was breathtaking. The service was second to none, all the staff were very friendly and polite, especially the two ladies serving drinks to the terrace from the bar. The food was always of a very high quality with a good selection throughout our stay. My only criticism was that by the second week I was getting a little bored of the selection( but that's what you expect with All Inclusive). We enjoyed an a la carte meal in the Greek restaurant which was 10/10. The drinks on offer was varied and the beer was very good served in 1/2 pint glasses, sometimes the glasses could have been colder as the beer soon warmed up in the heat. Maybe an introduction of classes stored in the fridge would help. I would definitely go again as the hotel was excellent in all areas, if you want a relaxing poolside break this is a definite luxury stop. Negative points: The adjoining beach was not very good as little sand. On our first day we could not find a sun lounger as every one had a towel on it, we swam for an hour and then moved some towels to use the loungers as no one was around. This followed by a rude exchange from a German couple who complained to one of the staff who immediately put a notice up around the pool for quest not to reserve loungers if they are going out all day-well done Atlantica. We would have booked the same hotel again but Thompson wacked the price up by over £2000 for the same 2 weeks the following year.More

What a difference
This as our second visit to this hotel the first being in 2010 and the last in September 2013, I cannot believe that a hotel can change so much in this short time! On our first trip the hotel was clean, the food was good with plenty of variety but since then the water park has been added, The footfall has increased mainly with young family's bringing children in abundance, and with this is the added problem of noise, having children myself this is no problem to me but it is now not a hotel for couples or people fun seeking. The food has unfortunately worsened and most nights the queue for the restaurant was unacceptable unless you were prepared to sit outside in near darkness and be bitten to bits by mosquitoes...some evenings we had to come back several times rather than just stand and wait, not what I would expect of a 5 star hotel even at peak season. The restaurant staff were on the whole pleasant but one older grey haired manager openly reprimanded staff in front of guests to the point I almost stopped him on one occasion! As a manager myself I found this deeply unprofessional. The beach was ok but very much shingle with older worn out sun loungers which you actually had to pay for so we sat by the pool which to say the least was crowded and not relaxing. Our room did have a family of ants for our entire stay but on the whole was comfortable and mostly clean. The reception staff of the hotel were most helpful and the lobby bar staff were superb especially Mickalis and Lynda, The pool bar was disappointing with drinks being served in paper cups and although Lefterry and seva were most welcoming the older plump barman with dark curly hair seemed more interested in customers ipads and telephones and throwing ice at the prettier girls while the small blonde barmaid was permanently grumpy and snapping at him.......On the whole with this in mind we will not be returning to this hotel and were honestly shocked at how different this visit seemed in comparison to our first our first stay and we would definitely not return or recommend this hotel.More
