Atlantica Aegean Blue

It's the pool scene that turns heads at the Atlantica Aegean Blue. A turquoise number complete with water jets winds its way around the grounds, snaking under little wooden bridges. The real talking point, though, is the mini waterpark that's brimming with tubes and slides. You're also just footsteps from the beach, so you can swap pool for sea in seconds.

Elsewhere, there's plenty in the way of sports and activities. As well as favourites like beach volleyball, there are things like canoeing on offer. And special attention is paid to smaller guests at the Thomson Kids' Club.

The hotel itself is made up of low-level buildings separated by gardens, so expect a village-like vibe. In the bedrooms, calm vanilla tones strike a contemporary note. If you've got the children in tow, family rooms come with the option of sliding doors, giving you a little bit of privacy.

Really good holiday

I booked the week before going and was really pleased with the hotel, lots of choices for all meals, stayed in one of the rooms near the pool area, very comfortable with wifi (a little temperamental), a kettle with tea bags and coffee etc, a fridge with water and soft drinks. Lovely comfortable beds. Very clean and tidy. Not much of a beach but you don't need it. A good small shop for extras if needed. I would like to return, hopefully the pool will warm up soon, rather cold last week (April). We were very grateful for the restaurant staying open on our arrival which was about 11pm, and for the buggy to take our luggage to our room. Very friendly staff. I thought the children's food area for them to pick their own was a really great idea (saw adults taking food from it too i.e. mash potato!). A really good holiday, wish I had booked for two weeks now! More

Fantastic weeks holiday - would recommend and go again!

Reading the great reviews below I fully agree with Darrell R, instead of repeating what has been said previously I will add our personal experiences. We did not hire a car, but would have done if we had stayed for two weeks as we wished we had done, it was the first week of the season and I do hope the staff can keep up their very friendly and helpful attitudes. Nothing was to much trouble. We did 4 day trips during the week, we visited Rhodes town twice and Lindos twice. I will review these separately but Kolimbia was in the middle of both places and the 45-50 minute bus ride went quickly. €3.50 per person each way as previously mentioned. We were told that the buses would run infrequently but it did seem that the drivers from Lindos made a special trip into Kolimbia to drop off tourists that were on the bus as they only stopped outside either of the two hotels. This made the bus times more frequent than we expected. The hotel did pack lunch if you wanted to go out for the day but this needed to be requested at reception before 7pm the previous evening, we only did this once as the sandwiches were not very nice (the bread is a little hard) and we forgot the other times. I would recommend doing this as you can get some drinks to take out with you. They even provide you with a cool bag to use that must be returned of course. We are already contemplating going back next Easter, this was our first all inclusive experience and it was great. Well done to all the staff at the hotel!More

The BEST all-rounder I've ever stayed in

After a long day with flights and travelling what is it that we all fancy? Well upon arrival at The Aegean we were greeted with a beer/drink full food service and after we had finished were taken by golf buggy to the accommodation so didn't even walk. Now I know your probably thinking only two of you arrived, when infact it was around 300 people (1st week of season) had all landed all had a drink and same service. Our room overlooked the pool was immaculate and slight sea view could be a little noisy but expected that being pool side. Food was fantastic everything was well cooked and presented, more importantly there was variety which is sometimes lacking in All inc resorts, pool side bar served snacks in the day which were equally lovely. The Asian Fusion restaurant in my opinion was not very good, some fantastic dishes some not (different chef and set up to the normal restaurant) Water park opened last day we were there looked really good and kids loved it As everyone says the beach isn't luscious golden sands but who cares. We went as a couple and I was over joyed with the service and manner of all the staff everywhere was well drilled and organised. Top tip: best way to explore the island is via car (excursions worked out to £300 for 3 short ones) we hired a car from Extreme cars ( out the main gate go left then first left and it's on the right hand side) for £90 for 4 days! Absolute bargain Rhodos cars inside the hotel are £110 for 3 days. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Genuinely, although I was disappointed in the fusion restaurant that would not put me off a return stay. Many thanks for a great stayMore

Awsome Stay

When reading this review please remember this is simply our opinion and only the facts of our stay. Always read several reviews within a months period as the Weather, Food and Management /staff do change which can drastically enhance or degrade hotel reviews. Please also remember this is an International Hotel serving European Guests so the food is more European than English. Although we came to this resort as a couple we fully understood that this is a family resort so children where going to be around we did not mind this and this had no bearing on our holiday what so ever. The rooms are quite spacious and kept in tip top condition balcony views vary from Pool, Sea, Limited Sea and Garden, the hotel is always happy to try to accommodate an upgrade where possible and the upgrades didn't seem to be too expensive either. The Food was excellent with a very good variety (Some of the desserts where a little repetitive and bland but their was still a very good choice of them) The Entertainment was good, and in my opinion will get better much better through out the season, We stayed in the 1st week of the season so the Entertainment Team where still getting the hang of things but still very good nevertheless. The Drinks, the usual all inclusive selection of cocktails, beer and spirits and freshly made cappuccino which was nice as i am not a massive alcohol drinker that is my wife area of expertise. They do have Free Wifi through out the resort and in most of the rooms they are still tweaking this so please bear this in mind. They have just opened their own Water Park for Guests and it is excellent (Pictures Attached) A Big Thanks To All The Staff For Making Our Holiday One To Remember, We are trying to get back for October. Car Hire: Rodos Cars (UK Photo License Needed Only) This is By far the easiest and best form of transportation from around €135 for 5 days all in with full insurance (no hidden extras) don't be afraid to Haggle for a better deal as a return customer we managed to get a mid size (New Polo Automatic) for under €200 for 6 days usually €300 for a week. The Drive to Rhodes was around 30 Minutes as there is a small road diversion due to roadworks and is very easy to drive on, parking is around €1 per hour on Blue Lines but free between 14:00-17:00 free on white lines and usual no parking on yellow. Entertainment: Thomson/TUI/Hotel Daily Activities by Thomson/TUI Entertainment Team including some of the weekly Evening Shows, The Hotel also provides around 3 live band/shows per week of high quality. Resort Reps Thomson/TUI: The reps are fantastic here, down to earth and extremely helpful with absolutely anything, we had on our stay Niki and Rachael who where just awesome and so very helpful.More

Great resort spoilt by Thomson!

Very good and well run place. The service was excellent; the restaurant manager Panagiotis ran the place like clockwork; staff very friendly; Nikos (waiter)come to mind with all his little tricks and games. The rooms are very good, well maintained and cleaned daily. Pool was very clean; one problem though- not suitable for early summer holidays since it was icy cold. Pools are not heated. Beach is gravelly and not sandy, so if you have kids that want to build sandcastles this isnt the place. We went on Thomson Holidays trip Everything Resort or Hotel related was good but everything Thomson related was rubbish. Poor management at Rhodes airport with holidaymakers and staff running about like headless chickens and no one knowing what to do. The departure transfer was even worse. The cabin pressure inflight was kept very low and we felt drained and exhausted in a 4 hour flight( and we regularly travel to Asia & Australia in 12-15 hour trips!) My daughter found the Thomson kids club boring. It is probably best if you avoided Thomson and made your own way. Airport transfers to the resort are usually fixed rate(40Euros).More
