Dubbed the village of the flowers, stunning Tsagarada is suspended 500m up a multi-coloured mountainside, which swoops down to the glittering coastline. This welcoming, whitewashed village is almost invisible among the thick jungle-like foliage, with just the odd sugar-cubed house peeking out. And the views are dramatic too - sweeping out over the undulating countryside, they dip down to the azure Aegean Sea below. While you're here, spend leisurely days strolling around the village, which is splashed with flowers in every colour of the rainbow, passing old churches and traditional architecture.

Make your way to one of the leafy squares and chat to the locals at a sun-dappled, outdoor cafe. Weave your way through the winding alleyways and poke your head into gift shops and art galleries, or stop off at a rustic restaurant and tuck into Greek specialities. You'll soon get into the unhurried swing of life here. If you really want to unwind, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches. Whether you sink your toes into the silky sands of Fakistra, Damouchari or Plaka, any one could grace the front of a postcard.

Milopotamos though is perhaps the most uninhabited. It's well worth the walk down the winding path to reach the snaking slice of porcelain-white sand clinging to the foot of the cliff. Of course, you may have come here to explore your breathtaking surroundings, in which case, set off on hikes along trails crisscrossing the mountains and through forests filled with chestnut trees. Whatever's on your agenda, this wondrous setting will delight you.
