Lichnos plays by all the Greek beach resort rules. Just 4 kilometres from Parga Town, it’s wrapped in olive groves and fronted by a runway of sand that’s almost a kilometre long. All the facilities are present and correct here, too. Thatched parasols stand to attention all the way along the beach, and the watersports offering includes everything from pedalos to jet skiing.
You won’t be left wanting for traditional Greek food while you’re in Lichnos. There are a handful of tavernas and cafes by the sand where, more often than not, the menus make the most of local products like olives, honey and fresh fish.
Most visitors to Lichnos are content to spend their holiday on the beach, but stints on the sand aren’t the only way to occupy your time here. The Cave of Aphrodite is just a 5-minute boat ride along the coast. Or, if you’re feeling energetic, you can get there by pedalo. According to legend, the Greek god of love and beauty used to take her baths in this seaside cavern.
