Villa Delfini

Built by brothers Vangelis and Yiannis, for family holidays where their children could safely enjoy the sun and sea right in front of the villa, as well as explore the wooded mountains behind. Villa Delfini comprises two separate apartments. The interiors are identical, with huge sea-facing picture windows making the large living room seem even more airy and spacious and giving it lovely views. The location of Villa Delphini on the east coast of Lefkas makes it the ideal base for exploring if you can drag yourself away from your idyllic waterside garden. Why not take a day trip out to discover some of the best beaches that fringe the island? Porto Katsiki, Kathisma and Ergemni all await you with their turquoise waters and soft sands or white pebbles. The more adventurous will love exploring Mount Mnimati above Nidri. Have a coffee with the locals as you take in the awe-inspiring view over the scattered islands off the coast of Lefkas and beyond to the mountains of the mainland.

A double bedroom at the front also enjoys the sea views and has French windows leading to the balcony; the second bedroom is a twin and there is also a bathroom and a large if somewhat old-fashioned kitchen. A walled garden, enclosing a small lawn, orange and lemon trees and a mass of geraniums has shaded seating areas specially constructed for meal times and steps lead down through a gate directly to the water where there are two jetties for mooring a boat. The exquisite sea views can be enjoyed either from the garden or from the balconies which span the front of both the ground and the first floor apartments.

Bougainvillaea-clad Villa Delfini is in Periyiali village which caters for the day to day needs, but is far quieter than cosmopolitan Nidri, just 1.5km away. Literally on the waterfront, you can almost step straight into the crystal clear water from the villa gardens, however, we of course recommend entering it from the tiny pebble beach in front of the villa. There is even a small jetty for you to moor a boat so why not hire one for a few days and pop across to Onassis' private island, Skorpios, for a swim? By staying in such a breathtaking setting as Villa Delfini with its panorama of small islets and Onassis' island Skorpios you can enjoy the beauty of this view without being a millionaire.
