The major evening event held here is a Barbecue party night. It's a weekly occasion when the Poseidon Staff pull all out all the stops to make it a great night. It all starts with some outstanding barbecue delights which have been specially herbed and spiced along with a salad buffet accompaniment. Following this, the night then begins with songs and dancing plus a few surprises along the way.
Contrary to a recent review on here, I can assure all readers that staying at the Poseidon is a fabulous experience. The Kappas family make everybody feel welcome from the moment you step in the door to when you leave. Last nights party night was an amazing success enjoyed by young and old alike. In reply to review C. I think you must have stayed at a different hotel to me. Ange & Toula are great hosts. The hotel is great value for money. I think by reading your review you have been vindictive to a very hard working family. Plus re the party night, that's the whole point it's for people to enjoy themselves. Go take a dive in the puddle at Poseidon.
I'll start at the beginning . . .
1) Upon entering the Poseidon I was expecting the warm welcome that had been raved about in the reviews below. This did not happen. Myself and others were welcomed by the owners sons, both of whom had no responsibility and if (heaven forbid) there were problems to be addressed (which there were) we were advised to come back the next day when the 'wonderful' Ange and Toula made their starring appearance. Another factor I naively looked forward to.
2) When we booked the holiday through Thomson we were under the impression that due to the fact we had booked as a three and intended on arriving as a three we would be provided with three beds . . . well how wrong we were.
We were provided with two beds and a disgusting stained sofa in the kitchen with a pillow on it (just to inform us 'yes we are actually going through with letting you sleep on a dirty hard sofa, we haven't forgotten a bed'). Even sitting on the sofa made a waft of sick rise through the room.
Due to the fact only the sons were there when we arrived one of us was forced to sleep on the sick-sofa until the morning.
3) So, the day has arrived the 'wonderful' Ange and Toula have made an appearance (claps all 'round). What a disappointment.
When we initially tried to be polite and not cause an awkward situation by simply asking 'could we talk about a problem with our room', we were greeted by a lovely look of disdain from Ange.
We were immediately told 'you're room has been upgraded' . . . UPGRADED. You're having a laugh mate.
When we were given the chance to explain, we were informed 'The reason you have a sofa is because the people here before you were inconsiderate and made a mess'. I am assuming he wasn't going to apologise any time soon so we decided to not make any more of a 'disruption' and head back to our room. Oh, but not before being politely informed that 'the maids work from top to bottom so you're last on the list I've sorted it already before you came and their sorting the sofa situation out later'. (should have been sorted in the 24 hrs between the last guests leaving and us arriving but yeh, whatever no rush!) Why, thank you gracious Ange for granting us such a breathtaking gift of . . . the bed we paid for.
4) The absolutely wonderful maids arrived (the saving grace in this holiday and they can't even speak our language). We were promptly handed a white sheet to cover the sofa, it now looked like someone had been murdered on it. Great.
They immediately offered their help with this sofa by offering us a pull out bed from a room that looked like it was being used. The bed was so hard that without us even asking they gave us an extra mattress to put on it so it was bearable. You know, I wish the maids owned a hotel! I would be back there in a flash . . . because kindness and understanding goes a long way . . . but I guess you can't have everything.
Even so, the spare 'bed' still had to be used in the kitchen isolated from the bedroom. However, sleeping next to the crime-scene sofa was still far from acceptable.
P.S before finally leaving this 'hotel' we decided to quickly peek through the window of our room to see if we had left anything and we were shocked to see a pillow placed back on the sick-sofa and the third bed had been removed . . . it became very clear that using this sofa as a bed is normal for the people at Poseidon and if we had not complained we would have been expected (like many other guests) to sleep on this pathetic excuse for a bed.
Following this it became clear that the next guests staying in this room would be expected to sleep on this sofa. I just hope they catch Ange on a mildly good day and he lets them sleep on the spare fold out bed instead.
5) The barbecue. Well, where do I start.
One of the group was admitted to hospital on the barbecue night. As a three we obviously stuck together and stayed in the hospital with the other member. Due to the hospital issue being rather minor we were allowed to leave within a few hours. Fantastic!! We'll be back in time for the barbecue.
Oh . . . the food was gone, even though we had to inform them before-hand of whether we wanted the difficult decision of lamb or chicken there was actually none left. So paying £10 for this 'fabulous night' was yet again a disappointment. However, when we initially asked is there any food left we were replied to with a man simply pointing to his watch as we had arrived half an hour later than the start time. When we explained the hospital situation we were greeted by Toula, who was thankfully being professional and she refunded two of our payments.
The 'entertainment' was truly WILD!!!! not.
The entertainment consisted of drunk middle aged 'party animals' singing loudly and awfully to ballads until the early hours.
After being rudely shrugged off by the first man in charge we did not feel welcome yet again. Who would have thought it! Not feeling welcome when you're in the company of such fun-loving, welcoming, party people!
6) I cannot be bothered to go into detail about the room. Long story short - the room was grubby, stained and the shower had to be turned off every 30 seconds because otherwise it flooded the room. The maids were brilliant but they can only do so much. Putting lipstick on a pig doesn't make it any less of a pig.
7) I am sure to the right customers Ange and Toula are lovely. However, the moment we had to go to them with a problem the atmosphere changed. They were sweet to the point of sickness. Toula tried her best to pretend she wanted to smile over in our direction every now and then but it was met with awkward disappointment when she would make a much grander effort with other customers of whom I'm sure had no complaints. Ange didn't even bother hiding his resentment towards us. Making for a slightly awkward environment.
8) Finally, before I bore myself to sleep. Upon thankfully leaving this sewage hole we were informed along with other discouraged members of the Thomson group that our coach to the airport was at 1:30am on sunday morning (we already knew this). However, we did not know that due to this we had to leave our room before 12pm on Saturday!! Leaving us with over 14hrs to wait around for the bus.
We were too tired and intimidated to confront Ange about this situation again so we decided to just agree. However, we did manage to hear another person ask if there was any chance they could keep the room or if Ange could at least shed more light on this situation that had been hidden from us until the last day.
The customer was rudely pointed in the direction of the rep as Ange couldn't be bothered to deal with a complaint.
Everyone give a round of applause for Ange and his great efforts yet again.
As a result the disappointed and angry customer was shrugged off and told nothing could be done.
Anyway, to conclude this essay . . . If you go to the poseidon take a bottle of sleeping pills with you AND MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE PERIDIS!!!
The Peridis is a beautiful hotel just over the wall and it is HEAVEN compared to this scrapheap.
We made the venture over after hearing the loud music one morning and were immediately greeted with a warm welcome from the faultless staff. They asked us 'you're from the poseidon aren't you?' we replied 'yes, can we come here please' and they said 'you are more than welcome, around here that place (poseidon) is known as Hilton (sarcasm at its best).'
The staff could not have done more for us and we weren't even paying to be there (I think they felt sorry for us for believing the good reviews about poseidon). We even had free ice cream and a roof-top hot-tub. Also the pool is a million times bigger and better than the puddle at poseidon.
P.S just a quick note to finish . . .
I know a lot of people have raved about Ange and Toula and how wonderful they are. Therefore, this makes my statement seem somewhat untrue.
However, I was disgusted to read a complaint on here and see the reply given from one of the delightful pair.
They replied to one of their paying customers by stating that "their overall attitude was that they were superior to everyone else and looked down on other people."
I truly believe they have shown themselves up in this statement to be far more judgemental and unprofessional than they have been described.
Nevertheless, they have still proceeded in modestly describing themselves as "polite and professional to all guests."
Again they have proceeded to childishly conclude this reply by sneering - "Some of the comments made by these guests just goes to show you their negative character, and their vindictiveness towards us even though we he have done nothing to them."
I remain with confidence and pride that I endured this hotel politely whilst patiently waiting for my return flight.
I am intrigued to read the polite and professional reply I receive to this review, if I am even to receive a reply at all. You never know they might ignore a customer with a complaint, why break tradition ay!More

we have just got back from our holiday at the poseidon this was our sixth time
there the owners ange & toula are really good and can't do enough for you
we had an apartment this time they are very spacious with fridge and air con
we had top floor but no lift so no good to anyone who has walking problems
the town centre is about 15-20 minutes walk away the sea front is 3minutes
and is the best way to town nice and flat all the way
i would recommend this hotel to anyone very friendly and clean and all the
staff are really helpful plenty of bars and restaurants never found a bad
one yet will be back next year god willingMore

Superb as always
Just returned from another holiday on the beautiful island of Kos and yet again we had a holiday to remember. Having visited the Poseidon on numerous occasions it really does feel like home from home the moment we arrive.
Ange and Toula are the perfect hosts and add to this their two children who we've seen grow up, it's the perfect place to relax and unwind. As a few previous reviews have mentioned it's not a five star luxurious resort, what it is though is a hotel that is comfortable, friendly, provides a great atmosphere and most of all enjoyable.
The enthusiasm Ange puts into running this hotel with his team of staff is incredible and we cannot wait to visit again to see them all, plus no doubt a fair few friends who we've made across the years staying here.
