Brilliant hotel nice and clean all the staff are really helpful you wouldn't think it was two star the pool area is very nice and very warm! Kos town is 5 mins away if you find the correct walking route ! The supermarket is a 2 minute walk away and lambi beach is a further 5mins walk ! Didn't expect it to be in such a good place would recommend a stay there More

Kyle S,

Hard to Beat in its Price Band

As with my other reviews I have rated this based on the type of accommodation, price, value for money and what I would expect within its price band. Therefore an excellent rating for this hotel can't be compared to an excellent rating for a five star beach front hotel that costs significantly more. Before I start let me say that if you are worried about being confronted by, or seeing migrants around the hotel , don't be. The Bahamas is a 15 minute stroll from Kos town and whilst there are a lot of migrants there, they are confined mainly to the port area. Also the nearest beach to the hotel is a short stroll of around 5-10 minutes and we didn't see any migrants at all in that area. This hotel is pretty much what it says on the tin. It is an adults only hotel that is clean and modern and seems to have benefited from a recent refit. Our room was very clean and was cleaned every day except Sunday whilst we were there. The en-suite bathroom was spotless and whilst the shower was small it was adequate. All the furniture in the room seemed new, including the beds, and the towels were changed daily. The room also had a fridge which stayed on whilst you were out, and a hair drier. Air conditioning costs 50 euros per week, a safety deposit box was 10 euros and late checkout 25 euros. The rooms do not have tea and coffee making facilities, something I found I couldn't do without and consequently bought a kettle from the local supermarket (Carrefour) which is a 2 minute walk away. That was another 18 euros so I suggest you take a travel kettle if that is high on your priorities. Also, although there are plenty of sunbeds, there is a charge of 1 euro per day for mattresses, something we found quite odd since the local beach restaurants will allow you to use their sunbeds with mattresses for free providing you are using the bar/restaurant; you can use the Bahamas sunbeds without mattresses for free but obviously they are more comfortable with, so allow another 7 euros per person per week if you intend to spend every day around the pool. The hotel grounds are very well kept and clean and tidy. There is a terraced area around the pool and a poolside kiosk selling drinks and hot and cold snacks. There is also plenty of shaded area as well as a shaded terrace to the front of the hotel which is also where the main bar is. This is a Thomson only hotel and as such is very much geared towards Brits; there is Sky TV showing sport in the bar area and a Thomson rep on hand for any help/info you may need. There is also free wifi in the bar which was good enough to stream the BBC News channel and update social media on my phone without any problem. The hotel staff are also very friendly and helpful, particularly Costas and Billy who helped us find a hire car at a better rate than we could find elsewhere. Board is bed and breakfast with breakfast consisting of toast/bread, ham, cheese, cereals, yoghurt, honey, tea and coffee and squash. You can also buy a full English breakfast from the pool side bar and prices compare with local restaurants. Obviously being bed and breakfast you will need to budget for other meals outside the hotel; shop around as prices vary considerably and don't be afraid to try the restaurants close to the hotel, they are less touristy and can be considerably cheaper. The hotel has no entertainment other than a quiz night on the Sunday and Greek dancers and a BBQ every Tuesday. The BBQ with entertainment can cost as much as a meal out but it can be entertaining. Moreover, we didn't find any bars/restaurants with entertainment the whole week we were there so it was a pleasant change. In summary, the Bahamas is a friendly and clean hotel with more than adequate facilities for a comfortable holiday. It would benefit from tea and coffee facilities in the room and guests should probably be allowed to use the sun bed mattresses for free. Whilst some may think charging extra for air conditioning etc is excessive, in my experience it is normal and reasonable for this category of hotel. All in all I would say that if you don't mind a gentle 15 minute stroll into town or a 5-10 minute stroll to a very good beach with an excellent bar/restaurant (see my review on the Sunburnt Arms) then The Bahamas is hard to beat for cleanliness, friendliness, facilities and overall value for money in its class.More

Great family run hotel

Stayed in August 2015 for 2 weeks and had a brilliant time. Costas and Billy the 2 brothers who run the hotel are very friendly and so are their staff. Nice food from the pool bar (make sure you have a Greek salad), great swimming pool and the bar is open late (2am). 15 minute walk into Kos town for bars and restaurants making it a great location. Do not let the migrant situation put you off. The media have overhyped the situation and we weren't effected at all. You will see migrants down by the harbour and sometimes walking round the town but they keep themselves to themselves and it's not an issue for tourists. Had a perfect holiday and would love to go back. Becky and Paul.More

Paul H,

Great hotel!!!

Just returned from a wonderful week at this fabulous hotel. Anyone who is coming to this hotel or thinking of booking for the next few weeks, don't worry!!! There is not a problem with the migrants at all and it did not affect our holiday one bit. The media has really over exaggerated the whole situation. Everything about this hotel is perfect, it is in the perfect location with a stunning pool and the staff are just amazing, the really do make the hotel what it is. I would go back to this hotel and kos next week if I could as it was so beautiful and such a relaxing holiday.More

Fantastic, relaxing holiday

Have recently returned from 2 weeks at the Bahamas. The hotel exceeded our expectations, our room had been refurbished and was clean and comfortable. We had a room overlooking the pool but actually spent little time on the balcony as we were always busy. Air conditioning was essential and we were aware of the 50 euro weekly charge before booking so just added this to the cost of the holiday. The pool was a good size for this hotel and there were plenty of sunbeds, we knew about the 1 euro mattress charge and were happy to pay this . The snack bar by the pool was very reasonably priced and we ate lunch there a few times. They serve a range of salads, toasters, sandwiches, chips, burgers, jacket potatoes, meatballs, moussaka etc. The hotel bar area had also been updated/ refurbished and was a friendly environment. Nice cocktails too. Lots of sport on TV there if that is of interest to you. Good wifi reception in bar area. Would be nice to have wifi around the hotel too. Greek night was good fun and worth attending. They will prepare you vegetarian food if needed too, just let them know when booking the evening. We found the hotel environment very relaxing, most people were very friendly and helpful with suggestions of nice restaurants to try and places to visit. As others have mentioned , it is only 10 minutes to the beach or town centre. There are quite a lot of migrants as you get into town, particularly near the harbour and castle but they are just getting on with their day and don't interact with tourists. Some amazing restaurants locally which I wil review separately. Also really enjoyed the day trip to a volcanic island, nysseros, well worth going if you get the chance. In summary, the Bahamas is a good base for all age ranges, it is small and friendly and you can easily walk to the town or beach. We gad a great time, thanks to all at the hotel, would definitely recommend to others.More
