This small hotel has a great pool scene and puts on a mean barbecue night. Plus it’s very near the beach.
This family-run place has a 2013 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor. It comes with a good-sized pool and a bar that does snacks during the day. And there are barbecue and quiz nights, too.
The nearest beach is less than 2 minutes away on foot, and you’ll find shops and bars just outside the front door. Plus, the centre of Kos Town is only a 20-minute stroll along the seafront.

Every week the owners host a barbecue with a twist. They'll give you an insight into their life down under with an aussie-style steak and rib barbecue evening.

My husband and I were told about this place by a friend and finally we managed to get booked through Thomson who were doing Kos for the first time from Glasgow. On arrival at the hotel we received a warm welcome from George (the owner) and shown to our room which was on the first floor with a balcony overlooking the side of the hotel. The room itself was basic, clean and comfortable . The next morning we dashed down for the usual scrum for loungers and found that there was no need as there is more than enough to supply the guests, in fact we spent a lot of time around the pool on our own as a lot of guest went to the beach which is only a few minutes walk away. I would say one of the biggest highlights of our stay was enjoying the evenings when the hotel held Barbeque and Kleftikas meals - these were truly amazing and we felt were great value. You can eat snacks and meals cooked by the lovely Ellie - this lady works so hard and always has a beautiful smile on her face. It has to be said that all the staff in this hotel are wonderful - they constantly smile and chat, they keep the hotel grounds and rooms in immaculate condition and are keen to ensure your stay is enjoyable. The location of the hotel is another plus as it is situated far enough out from Kos town to be peaceful in the evening but is only a short walk if you wish to head into town. There is a huge supermarket just a few minutes from the hotel and a variety of restaurants to chose from - you must try Efkalipty which is almost directly opposite the hotel, or Blue Pheonix down next to the beach - both of these supplied great food at really good prices. We usually made our way back to the hotel and relaxed around the pool drinking lovely cocktails made by Elias - refreshing to be served cocktails containing proper branded drinks as we usually holiday in the big 5 star hotels which often serve local drinks or charge a fortune for brands. Just about everyone else we met at this hotel had been there year in, year out, and several had already booked for next year and even the year after! we can see why! this place is a little gem and we will definitely be back ( we generally dont go back to the same place twice) should Thomson provide flights from Glasgow in the future ??????? It was so good that we may even drive 5 hours to Manchester to return to a hotel that we returned home from feeling as though we had truly recharged our batteries Kos town itself is lovely and is a lovely stroll or short taxi ride from the hotel - there are loads of places to eat and drink along the way and in Kos Town the restaurants/cafes are brilliant. Shopping was great with lots of shops selling quality leather, jewellry and the usual souvenirs. I have to say that this holiday was one of the most enjoyable we have taken and I would thoroughly recommed it to families or couples .... you wont be disappointedMore
Well worth a visit!!
Just returned from another superb visit to The Alice Springs. We have been going for about 10 years, sometimes twice a year in June and September. George, Elias and Barbara are so lovely, friendly and helpful, as are all the staff. This year Barbara looked younger than ever and was in sparkling form. We are already planning to go back next year. There was only one problem this year, not the fault of the hotel or the management, but the inconsiderate smokers each side of us. The usual leisurely breakfasts on the balcony in the cool of the morning were ruined by the stereophonic passive smoking. As soon as they were awake they lit their gaspers and puffed away for all they were worth. Very selfish!!!!More

Excellent, Friendly, Spotless
Fab hotel, couldn't ask for better hosts that the Family running it. The pool area is spotless with comfy sun loungers around it, a pool bar and games area and eating area too. The food is outstanding, kleftiko night is not to be missed, melts in your mouth. The rooms are spotless and have everything you need in them. I have stayed here about 3 or 4 times now and most holiday makers return more than once to this hotel More

Returning for the sixth time
My wife and I have been to 'The Alice' five times and are booked for number six next September! We have been to many many other places but this is truly where we are happiest. Yes the rooms are basic but they are kept very clean with clean linen and towels practically on a daily basis. All the staff are great but of course George, Barbara and Elias are really special people who will go the extra mile to ensure you are cared for. The recent report about someone forgetting their glasses in Zia is typical of the support you can expect from the family, I have seen George drive someone to the chemist and help them get the right medication, nothing is too much trouble. The location is excellent, 3 minutes to the beach and 15 minutes into Kos town which is a lovely place to wander around and enjoy. Much praise is rightly given for the Lamb nights and Steak nights, but in fact all the food is good whether it's a snack, breakfast, lunch or full evening meal. A word of warning;- 'The Alice' is addictive, but in a great way. Go and enjoy.More
BBQ night at Alice Springs
We stayed at Alice Springs in 2011 and took part in their BBQ night. We returned to Kos in September this year but stayed in different accomodation as Alice Springs was fully booked. As soon as we booked to return to Kos, the whole party said we wanted to go back to the BBQ night. The day after we arrived in Kos, my partner cycled over to Alice Springs and met with Barbara and her son Elias, both of whom remembered him. We secured places for the following Friday night and I can honestly say it was well worth it !! As a veggie, they again made me a veggie plate which was delicious. The others had the ribs and the steak which they reported were amazing. We were made to feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic family !!!!More
