Very beautiful location and grounds of the hotel are spectacular. Regarding to the food there was a very good selection for each tast and of very good quality. Spacious rooms. Being at the beginning of the season, water in the swimming pools was freezing cold. Some of the extra attentions for guest was not yet available, like cava during breakfast, chocolat fountain etc. Would recommend but later on in the season.More
Fifth visit, sixth bookedâ¦.
We spent two weeks at The Blue Lagoon Village in October, which was our fifth visit. We have already booked our sixthâ¦â¦.. I have reviewed this hotel before on some of our previous stays, and Iâm not sure what more can be said, it just gets better and better. BLV is a family/luxurious 5 star hotel, on the beach with it's own water sports and water park, a short haul destination, has a 15 minute transfer time from the airport and is geared up for adults as well as children. There aren't many hotels which can say this and it certainly ticks all the boxes for us as a family. There are other European hotels which may possibly do one or two things slightly better (a more extensive cocktail list perhaps) but overall BLV has everything and does everything well. It's a large hotel and nowhere feels claustrophobic, there are lots of huge pools to choose from, each with a different vibe and even one with a swim up bar. The activity pool and toddler pool (with shade) is where there are kids and adults games during the day and a visit from Thomson the Dog and Bamse bear at lunchtimes. You also get drinks service to your sunbed, which is not too shabby!!!! There is also a baby room by the toddler pool which has things like a bottle warmer, changing table etc⦠It's set in the most beautiful surroundings with fabulous views, it's absolutely spotless, modern and has fantastic restaurants and food, is set on its own beach with free sunbeds and cabanas (payable) great water sports (the team there are so professional â they have their own facebook page too so you can check them out and ask any questions too before you go.) A must is their 2 hour private speedboat trip â definitely the highlight of our holiday. There hotel also has a water park which you can either walk along the beach path to, which only takes a few minutes, or get a golf cart to (you can phone these from your room, or just wait by the mini market where they pick up and drop off from regularly. It is indeed a âvillageâ in itâs own right, and it has various shops, a gym with indoor and outdoor exercise classes and also an heated indoor pool and an amazing Spa. We had a fabulous couples massage, which is when you get a side by side massage for an hour, then you are left for another hour in a beautiful room with a large jacuzzi hot tub, overlooking the outdoor spa water feature, with a bottle of fizz and a fruit platterâ¦â¦.. Blissâ¦. The hotel is remote with nothing within walking distance, however, we prefer to think of it as âsafe and secureâ feeling happy to let our daughter wonder for her own ice creams etc⦠There is only one access road into the hotel as it is at the bottom of a hill (the views when you arrive are breathtaking) and has a gated entrance. No need for wrist bands here!!! There is so much to do on-site we have never found this a problem, however, the hotel do run busses into the local town of Kardamena and also into Kos Town, which is lovely and well worth a visit. Our daughter is a bit old for the kids clubs now, although she has loved them in previous years. Both crèche and kids clubs are run to UK childcare ratios and staff are from UK/UK childcare qualified. They also have evening parties, chocolate etcâ¦. which I think she is a bit gutted sheâs too old for now!! Restaurants â where do I startâ¦â¦. For dinner there are 5 restaurants which are part of the AI - the Aegean main buffet and then 4 a la cartes, the BBQ, the Chinese, the Italian and the Greek. The buffet restaurant is large, definitely the largest we have been to, with three different sections, each section is like a separate restaurant with different themes, it also has a separate children's buffet too with smaller tables and chairs which is lovely. There are have themed nights like Mexican and Indian in one section of the buffet each night and on Thursday nightâs there is a chocolate fountain, which is a must⦠On Sunday mornings they serve smoked salmon and fizz which is a lovely touch. All the a la cartes are lovely, last year the Greek was a new addition and is now most definitely one of my favorites, the food was simply amazing, and so much of itâ¦.. The restaurants are booked through Guest Services, which means that you get to sit and talk with a human being! You get one visit to each of them per week, Iâd recommend you book all your restaurants when you arrive for your complete stayâ¦.. In addition thereâs the Sushimi (sushi) and Thalassa (fish) restaurants which are not part of the AI. Treat these two restaurants as you would if you were staying in an AI in a town, and walking out to have dinner somewhere else, 'for a change' - treat it as a 'night out.' During the day the Italian, Greek and Chinese are open at lunchtime (all buffet style) and there is also a beach bar serving hot dogs, toasties and Mr Whippy ice cream, and by the activity pool, the Gelataria, serving home made waffles, crepes, cakes and ice cream. The rooms are modern with plenty storage. They have standard rooms, family rooms, swim up rooms and suites as well as private pool rooms and jacuzzi rooms - all rooms have free safes and fridges too. There are also robes and slippers which is a lovely luxurious touch... A huge plus too is that it is only 10/15 minutes from the airport - so, from landing, to bring greeted with your cold glass of champagne at check-in, can take as little as 35/40 mins. The entertainment here is your typical holiday hotel type stuff, with the usual kiddie shows before the more adult shows afterwards. It starts at 7.30pm at the main theatre stage, which is a very professional set-up with lovely tables and chairs (no HV plastic ones here!!!) and you also get waiter service to your table tooâ¦â¦ 7.30pm is Thomson and the Superdogs, followed by Charlie & Cocoâs Clown Club at 8pm, then Download @ 611 at 8.15pm. The adult entertainment here starts at 9pm. Itâs all over by 10.30pm so no need to worry about late night noise (itâs a family hotel after allâ¦) We tend to just use the entertainment as background, as our daughter is showing less and less interest in all of that stuff, and prefer the âShake and Mix' bar, which has seating inside and out, and also has entertainment in the form of singers/keyboard players etc. who are always very good. This typical âholidayâ type entertainment has came in for some criticism in the past, however, I have looked into it and I know that there will be a lot more money invested in it this year ⦠so weâll seeâ¦. Last of all, and by no means least, the staff..... the staff here are one of the reasons we return time and time again, some of them are now most definitely good friends, and they canât do enough for you, and always with a smile. It is certainly a testament to the hotel and the management team here, that so many staff return year after year to work here, and we can't wait to see them all again in 2017â¦More
My wedding ð
We have been here every year since 2014 and will always return! The staff, views, amenities and restaurants are amazing. Everyone goes the extra smile with huge smiles. Nothing is too much trouble and they remember your name, which makes it so personal. We decided to get married on the resort as no other all inclusive holiday compares. Reasonably priced and always over delivers. Obviously it depends what you want from a holiday. We like good food, relaxation, hot weather and nice company which is exactly what we get. The hotel is always clean and well presented. Choice of food is very varied and quiet areas allowing those without children is chill out! The hotel is at the bottom of a mountain maybe 30minutes from Kos but we do not tend to leave the resort as we have everything we require on site. Some went into the town a few times by bus which was fairly cheap but taxis are costly. Our party totalled 42 and all loved the resort; which was an achievement having such a big party - This was one of our worries when picking the perfect venue being they people were paying to come and celebrate. We married at 5pm on the beach and The wedding organiser (Panagetta- sorry if spelt incorrectly) was brilliant and made everything from wedding setting to picking the evening party venue very simple and stress free. Brilliant photographer, food, atmosphere and he flow of the day was perfect. Even though our wedding was in the middle of the resort it was very intimate and we felt we had our privacy! The prices are reasonable and service second to none. We took away some amazing memories, and so did all of our party. Thank you so much and sorry I have taken so long to comment. I must say a special thank you to Kleanthis restaurant bar manager, Kostas, Zoran, Stefanos & Katerina See you in the summer Mr & Mrs Rolfe xxxxMore
Nice Hotel - but need to heat the pools!
This is a really nice hotel, with great service, lovely rooms and some nice restaurants to make a change from the buffet. However - we were travelling 2 children (4 & 5) in October half term and although the weather was warm and pleasant - we could not use ANY of the outdoor pools as they were absolutely freezing - the sort of cold that makes you go numb in seconds. Luckily there was an indoor pool which we went to every day, and the beach was beautiful, but it was such a shame really as the kids couldn't even play in the water park area as it was just too cold. If they had heated the pools I would have given this 5* without hesitation. The service really was excellent though - all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Buffet food was as you'd expect and as it always tends to be in AI, but the chinese restaurant was really nice. Choice (and quality) of cocktails included in AI was not great. The organised pirate boat trip was well worth it if you have kids.More
Half term break
We usually visit here in August so had booked for October half term (last week of October and the final week of the season) so we were a little apprehensive about how different the hotel would be. We needn't have worried - firstly, we were incredibly lucky with the weather, having expected it to be a mixed bag it was wall to wall sunshine for the entire week. Everything was also open and fully functioning until the day we left; all the bars and restaurants, kids clubs, waterpark and high ropes, gelateria etc. It was also busier than expected, partly due to it being half term I expect, but nowhere near as busy as in August. The pools were definitely much chillier than in August but my daughter still used them every day - even I had a dip! The sea was a fair temperature and I finally had a long promised trip on a jet ski. The watersports team here are fab, with safety being top priority for them. It was really lovely to visit the hotel at a different time of year. It meant we could do things we wouldn't normally at the height of summer - we had a long walk along the beach and I took part in a lot of the fitness programme, which I really enjoyed. It was also great to say goodbye to the staff before they left to return to their own families. The staff are an amazing bunch of people and so many of them have become friends over the years we have been coming here. We are looking forward to seeing them all next August. More
