  • Private swimming pool
  • Lovely garden area
  • Quiet village location
The sleepy village of Svoronata is the setting for these spacious villas, which each come with a private garden and pool.
These large, modern villas are grouped together in a quiet area of Svoronata, a pretty village in Kefalonia’s south-east corner. Each villa is set over 2 floors. On the upper floor are 2 bright and airy bedrooms – 1 double, 1 twin – each with an en-suite bathroom and a balcony. On the ground level, you’ll find a twin bedroom, bathroom and a big, well-equipped kitchen-dining area. There’s also a living area with sofas. French windows lead out to a spacious covered veranda, which has views out to the Ionian Sea.

Outside, each villa has its own grassy garden area, and a big, rectangular pool. A paved terrace wraps around the pool, and you’ll find wooden sunloungers, parasols, a covered barbecue, and a table and chairs for al fresco dining.

Svoronata itself is a quiet village with winding lanes, old stone houses and balconies overflowing with bougainvillea and jasmine. There are a few local tavernas, as well as mini-markets for stocking up on supplies. The sandy Blue Flag beaches of Ammes and Avithos are less than 10 minutes’ drive from the villas, and there are daily buses travelling to Argostoli, Kefalonia’s charming capital – the journey takes about 20 minutes.

Your guide to Svoronata, Kefalonia

"Surrounded by olive groves and fruit orchards, this genuine, away-from-it-all village boasts no less the three glorious beaches - Svoronata is just the ticket for friendly family breaks."

On the southwest coast of Kefalonia, among the fertile valleys and rolling hills of the Livathos region, you’ll discover the tiny resort of Svoronata. At just under two kilometres inland, the village centre nuzzles three fabulous beaches – Ammes, Avithos and Ai Helis. This sleepy village is a pint-size treat for anyone fortunate enough to pay its pretty shores a visit. Child-friendly shallow waters and uncrowded sands are off-set by rambling olive groves and perfectly plotted fruit orchards. Spend your days playing volleyball on Ai Helis Beach. Paddle with your little ones in the crystalline shallows on Avithos Beach. Or, use up your excess energy with a visit to the go-kart track that’s between Svoronata and Avithos Beach. As the day fades away in a soft pink glow, begin your search for an authentic eaterie. Explore winding streets lined with colourful gardens. With many of the pre-earthquake buildings still standing, Svoronata retains much of its original charm. So stop. Take a moment to admire the traditional Greek architecture before popping into the nearest taverna. Sample a Kefalonian meat pie or enjoy the subtle flavours of Greek salad and kalamari. And, if you really can’t decide what to have, choose a meze and try a little bit of everything. As night descends, you’ll find that entertainment here is centred around the handful of tavernas and bars. Sip a delectable cocktail and soak up the atmosphere. If you’re looking to exercise your dancing shoes head into one of the nearby towns, Lassi and Argostoli are both a 10 to 20 minute drive away, for a livelier distraction. Whether you are looking for a rural retreat or a quiet family beach break, Svoronata is the perfect place for you.

first time in kefalonnia for me and my two buddies. Sun villas are located in the hillside in a really rural village. Just one mini -market and three churches, no pub. The villa itself was extremely comfortable with all the amenities you have at home.... more on this review
