This little hotel comes with a sea-facing pool and a secluded cove just across the way.
Billy, Barbara and the family’s Labrador, Disney, make welcoming hosts at this little hotel. Sea-facing rooms look onto the pool, where the bar serves up meals and snacks and – at night – is a great place for cocktails.
One of the reasons guests keep coming back is the cove just across the road. It’s a little rocky number, secluded and quiet, where you can leave your towel while you pop back to the hotel for lunch.
Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Pelagos Bay Hotel!
We didn't know what to expect but was wonderfully surprised. The hotel is small, very clean, in a beautiful spot and is very friendly. We met lots of lovely people.
Our room was basic, but immaculate and clean. Breakfast ( as we did expect from previous reviews read) was basic! But we did order alternatives some mornings which were lovely.
The bay across from the hotel is so quiet and beautiful and we all loved snorkelling in the crystal clear waters.
It was about a half hour walk from the centre of Scala (with two children) but we often got a taxi which was only 5 euros! The centre of Scala was busy at night so we mainly dined locally at Old times or Nautilis near the hotel.
The children loved the pool there were inflatables etc to play with. The Food and drinks on offer at the hotel were lovely at lunchtime.
We especially loved the staff Anastasia and Yannis the barman! Yammas Respect!
The hotel is very homely with lots of lovely touches.
Kefalonia is beautiful, although journeys on the roads are hair raising. The people are all so friendly and welcoming.
Would definitely recommend! We hope to return soon!More

small and friendly
What a fantastic week we have just had, staying at Pelagos Bay Hotel. Beautiful views from the balcony and pool where there were plenty of sunloungers and umbrellas for everyone. No having to get up early to reserve a spot by the pool! Very clean and well kept rooms and public areas, bright and airy.
Breakfast was enough for us but we did pay extra to have an English breakfast on a couple of mornings. These were large and good quality and value for money. Lunch was also good and there was a well stocked bar.
Staff were very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The whole atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.
The beach is a short walk away or there is a pebble beach in the cove below the hotel, where the kids loved snorkelling.
Skala itself is a 20 to 30 minute walk along the sea front (down hill), depending how fast you are and taxis are a fixed price of 5 euros one way.
The ONLY complaint is that we had to come home!!More

Great view, friendly staff
I find this review really hard to write, I want to give 5 stars as the staff made us feel so welcome, and were so helpful, however I also need to be honest.
Barbara was fantastic communicating with us by email before we arrived, booking our taxi, everything ran like clockwork. Having read the reviews was expecting Billy and Barbara to be really welcoming, and yes, they were on arrival. However after this they were professional rather than friendly and welcoming, and I can see why some guests say they stick with their friends who have visited previously. Someone mentionned Billy's book of rules, and yes, he is very stern when he wants the children out of the pool, or you away from a certain area, which given the reviews surprised me, but was not an issue. I think it is more about expectation, he said what needed to be said with no softener, but the reviews would suggest him to be more friendly.
I certainly think if you were to visit with no children, ate at the hotel, and drank at the bar you would see the friendly side. However, Yannis and Anastasia more than made up for this, they made us so welcome, smiles and hellos every time we entered the bar area. I highly recommend Anastasia's family's restaurant Socrates. She was actually working there when we went and we had a lovely meal.
The room is of a good standard for Greece, clean, lovely view. Hard beds, and I had many aches by the end of the week, but this is normal for Greece. The aircon is set at 24 degrees, which would be fine if this was constant, but when you return at night with it being turned off all day it takes hours to cool to 24 degrees and it was just far too hot. We did have to ask for the remote control in the end after 3 nights of suffering. There is a fridge and kettle, so you can keep a few bits in the room. The hairdryer is a waste of time, so bring your own!
I do think Billy and Barbara have made the effort to include the extras that make your holiday that bit easier. For instance there is a clothes dryer on the balcony with pegs to dry things. There is a hook for the shower to attach to! there is a box of toys in reception for children to play with. There are floats and balls for the pool, there is table tennis. I really needed very little other than the clothes.
On leaving we were all keen to return in the future. However on reflection, had we have paid full price I do not think we would have been as satisfied. The breakfast was fine for us, given what we paid, we were not expecting anything. However if you paid more I can see the reason for the complaints. The walk to town is a good 30mins, and with children it means a taxi one way. I think in future we would probably stay a little closer.More

Clean, friendly & relaxing
Rooms were super clean, staff and the atmosphere at this hotel are friendly & welcoming. We loved our two week stay here and would recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff really make the experience truly relaxing, it's a big family and they treat everyone like they are a good friend! A few reviews mention the walk to Scala town centre - it is a 10 minute walk but very pleasant and we did not need the torch as it is fairly well lit. We actually enjoyed the walk back along the beach after having lovely dinners at many of Scala's delicious restaurants. The pool is big and there are plenty of sun beds & parasols, the little beach cove is beautiful and you are able to hire kayaks from the hotel if you want to explore this way. We hired a car for a few days and the hire company dropped the car off/picked it up from the hotel making this super easy. All in all, I am not someone that likes to go back to the same places on holiday as I like to see new places but I genuinely would visit Pelagos Bay again and it's easy to see why people go back year after year.More
