Idyllic location for a relaxing holiday
A perfect hotel for a peaceful holiday, with proprietors (Elisabeth & Denis) looking out for you and ensuring they make your stay at their home a relaxing but enjoyable one. The location of the hotel is at the top of Skala town up two small hills, about a ten minute stroll from the centre, a further five minutes to a shingle beach. The hotel is set in an a quiet tucked away location; you can see the sea, the mountains and beautiful gardens depending on where in the hotel you are. We had a spacious apartment that was clean and had all we needed for our stay. We had a balcony overlooking the pool and also a terrace so plenty of outdoor space as well as indoor space. AirCon came at a cost of €75 as we had two units and a safety deposit box was extra but we didn't use one. We were welcomed by Elisabeth late in the evening on arrival, first impressions were good as she showed us to our rooms and introduced herself. Throughout our stay her, her husband and staff were very friendly. They made my husband and I along with my children 18 months, 3, and 7 very comfortable. Elisabeth spoilt them with treats and helped and encouraged them, especially my eldest who she managed to help learn to swim. She made every effort to ensure they were always ok and catered for. A weekly BBQ is held in the hope all can get together for a good chat and some well prepared food. Simple but sensible rules apply like 'shower before entering the pool' 'close shutters during the night for safety'. Pool and bar opens 10.00am - 6pm. It is a well maintained hotel/pool and to keep it like that the rules need to be followed. Bar opens again for drinks 10.30pm - midnight. As a family we would love to come back next year!!!More
Balcony:- As the property is small if you would like a balcony don't rely on a special request. On arrival when shown to a room with terrace if we could have a balcony the owner wasn't helpful and couldn't even for the second week make a balcony room available. Owner:-Should restrict the property advertising to adults only as it is not child-friendly. The knock on effect if you are staying at the same time as families with children it causes a uncomfortable atmosphere. We found the owner unfriendly which in our experience over the years is very unusual of the Greeks. When read other reviews mentioning this we thought they must be exaggerated. Pool :-Time's of pool opening 10.30 to 6.30 if you want early or a later swim not possible, if you have children best to go to Ocean View nearby if they want to splash about in the children's section as was suggested to the family who were staying at the same time as us by the Thomson Rep.More

I would like to start by saying that if you are a couple looking for a relaxing, clean, beautiful place to stay, this is perfect! We were a family and it's quite clear, Elizabeth is not a fan of families. When we arrived we were greeted as you would expect and were made to feel welcome. After popping our bags into our room and getting our very excited 3 year old ready for the pool, we were straight away met with strict rules etc. We were more than happy to follow these rules and as the mother of my child I was happy to enforce them however I felt uncomfortable straight away as Elizabeth started throwing demands at my 3 year old. I am not the sort of parent who sits around and lets my children get on with it. I and my husband are very hands on. I put it down to the fact that she was health and safety conscious and accepted that as it was her place, I couldn't blame her for being a little too involved. We went out in to the town for dinner on the first night and when we headed back to our room (we were a family of 6) we decided to sit quietly on the terrace with my family whilst my children slept (3 and 9 months). We were told off straight away for having my parents on our terrace but to be honest, we saw no other way to socialise with them if we wanted to put our children to bed. The pool bar didn't open until 10pm (closed at 6pm) and we didn't want our children out every night until late. Our rooms were situated at either end of the complex so we couldn't even sit on our terraces next to each other. This complex does not like big families. My 9 month old ended up with a raging fever a few nights into our stay. We couldn't afford the air con for the whole time so asked if we could have it (and pay of course) for a few days to see if it helped settled our baby at night. We were refused air con and told that we would have to pay for the whole stay or nothing. We waited a few more days (and struggled through some very hot, sleepless nights) until our last week! We then asked to pay for a week and she charged us only 20Euros less than for the 2 weeks. We had no choice but to pay this so that all of us could sleep and so that my baby was comfortable. (We did explain the situation to the housekeeper). We were ignored from then on and felt extremely uncomfortable when ever we were at the complex. We couldn't mix with my parents unless it was down by the pool or out of the complex all together. A few more things happened to make us feel extremely uncomfortable and me and my mum ended up in tears. We complained formally to our rep who then sent management to our room. We explained the situation to him and hoped he could help us. The next day, management arrived and explained to us that Elizabeth was issuing us with a final warning and she would make us leave if anything else happened... we were in total shock. Extremely upset with 2 young children to worry about we asked to be put on the next flight home or to be moved to another complex. None of these were options so we knew we had to stay. We spent most days out, away from the complex and used it purely as a place to get our heads down at night. As lovers of Greece and the Greek people / culture, we were totally gutted by this experience. I would HIGHLY recommend for couples who want to relax but would NOT recommend for families or groups.More
ALL SHIP SHAPE AND ELISABETH FASHION!
The Andreas Studios and Apartments (9 studios and 3 apartments), are located, at the top of, and beyond the main uphill Scala High Street, where there are supermarkets and many tavernas. From Andreas it is a 12 minute walk downhill, to the beach, but a slog uphill. (However, there are taxis, for the return journey costing 5 Euros). The Studios and Apartments are in a nice rural location, with spectacular views of the mountains, and the sea. The Studios and Apartments are very well kept, and very clean – all closely supervised by Elisabeth, who is keen that everybody has a pleasant holiday that is not spoilt by the inconsiderate behaviour of others. Elisabeth invites all newcomers for a free drink on the first evening, and organises a BBQ each Saturday evening. This all helps to foster a congenial and friendly atmosphere. Many guests have stayed before. Andreas has a lovely swimming pool, (large considering that there are only 9 studios and 3 apartments). There are plenty of neatly set out sun beds and umbrellas - some of the sun beds being under the shade of olive branches. There is a pool bar, which serves drinks and food. Sun beds are not reserved by towels, so no need to get up at the crack of dawn! My wife and I were really impressed by how Elisabeth looked after the more aged couple, who arrived on the coach with us. A cake was made for the ladies 77th Birthday. The lady and her husband were invited to tea, and taken to a Greek Night in Scala. Elisabeth does all she can to ensure that you have a relaxing holiday. We enjoyed our stay there.More
Start of Season Skala
Nice clean apartment, we were on ground floor and the doors opened into a large patio, which let us chase the sun around! Pool was clean , but cold, bar food was excellent similar in price to some of the restaurants in town, drinks slightly pricier, the apartment wasn't large had a small two ring job, kettle toaster etc, good shower, beds were singles, no double beds available, great views of the sea and coast, 10 minute walk onto the town, which had an excellent variety of bars and restaurantsMore
