Cheap quality food
the hotel was ok but it was in the middle of nowhere and when the food they serve is of very poor quality and left in open dishes for hours just keeping it warm And serving spoons being used by all the people serving themselves it's just luck that we didn't get a dodgy tummy , fortunately we had a car and although we were half board we went into town most nights to eat , breakfast was a little better but not much , the only place they had good food was the pool bar which closed at 5 pm otherwise we would have eaten there more often . On a good note the room was clean , and the pool and sun bathing area was clean but when busy was a bit noisy , definitely not 5 star even in Greece .also wifi slow and a bit hit and missMore
Lovely hotel in very quiet area
I travelled to this hotel in August last year as a family of 4 , two adults a 12 year old and a 16 year old , we stayed for two weeks . Anyone going should remember the weather in August is very hot in the 30s most days . After arriving at the airport you travel by bus to argostoli (the .capital ) then embarked on a ferry for a 20min journey to Luxouri , on arrival you have to get a bus for another 30 min to get to the hotel . We arrived late but after being shown tio our room were given sandwiches and fruit . Our room overlooked the pool and sea it was to a high standard and kept very clean as were all areas of this hotel . You can upgrade your room which we did when one was vacant , to one with a jacuzzi and a shared pool ( we loved this and it's well worth the money ) . The hotel is in a very quiet area if you like to wonder off for night life there is none , very peaceful . The pool area is excellent there is a restaurant near for lunch , the food is v good . Also tennis courts ( to hot when we went ) a nice touch an art gallery which we wondered ï¸round and an open air cinema , we used this to catch up on some new and old films , lovely under the stars ðððð. The beach was long and narrow it got quite full , the quieter areas were nice but no shade !!! Something you need . Give yourself a free spa treatment , most people were rubbing. The clay found on the beach onto themselves , letting it dry then going for a swim , try it . We did trips to the mainland ourselves as we have been to kefalonia before we also did tours , long days if you have younger children but the island is beautiful . If you can get into Argostoli between 10.30 and 11 in a morning you will almost certainly see the turtles near the sea front where the fishing boats are , we did this several times got some great pictures . The food in the hotel was to a good standard and no one complained or went hungry !!!!not to good a choice for me as a vegetarian , but I didn't starve . All in all we had a lovely holiday the hotel like the island is quiet ,peaceful so if you want discos and night life don't go leave it to the ones who appreciate a peaceful family holiday . Yes we would go back .More

Couldn't have been more perfect!
Beautiful island with a lovely hotel, friendly helpful staff and tranquil surroundings. Rare to be able to visit such an unspoilt location and hope it never becomes too overdeveloped! We were able to relax and recover.More

3-4* service in 5* luxury surroundings
Our holiday was amazing! It was planned to celebrate our mum's 70th birthday after a long battle with cancer which she was close to winning. We decided it had to be 5* all the way.Accommodation and facilities are amazing - beautiful surroundings, top quality furnishings, lovely clean pool. Staff were friendly and willing but had no authority to actually make things better while we were there. However we were all disappointed with the services of the hotel which are clearly NOt 5* The service/s leaves a lot to be desired: Poorly organised buffet which leaves meat/non-meat dishes next to each other and cross-contamination with use of same serving utensils No 24 hour room service at any level - mum was so sick one night and all she wanted was some dry toast - we could net get this anywhere in the hotel! Booking procedures for tennis courts changed depending on who was on duty at the front desk Often waited up to half an hour to get served in the bar in the evening Entertainment was half-hearted and uninspiring Service at breakfast was like Fawlty Towers - you didn't know who to approach regarding more coffee, tea pots ran out of supply, we had to help ourselves to coffee, not enough staff; the staff to guest ratio was poor Complimentary nibbles with drinks were sometimes offered and sometimes not...no continuity or consistency in standards Generally the service and standards within the hotel failed to meet the 5* physical environment.More

A small piece of paradise
We stayed in one of the Suite Maisonettes in late July/early August. We are a family of four (45,45,19,15) and this hotel and every thing about it and the resort were exactly what we all needed and had been looking for. Yes, it's very quiet, but if it's nightlife you are looking for then this is the wrong part of Greece. The Hotel/resort is extremely restful, do what you want, when you want. Of course meals are at set periods during the day, but should meet most peoples needs. The food is plentiful, of good quality and diverse with lots of choice. Drinks prices were typical of hotels, approx. double those of local bars and restaurants but this is to be expected and if you took advantage of the specials and half price periods then were good value. We never needed to use the facilities around the main pool (we had our own private pool area) but every time we wandered through it was never over crowded and sun beds were available at most times of the day. The staff are fantastic, nothing is too much and everything comes with a smile! The hotel is 5/10 mins walk to the beach and main restaurants and here is where you can also find the little shop that carries all the supplies you will need, from trinkets to water and snacks to inflatables. You should be aware that following the earthquakes earlier in the year, travelling around the island isn't as easy as it used to be but don't let this put you off. We rarely return to the same holiday resort the following year, but we are finding it difficult to top this hotel and I can say with 100% certainty we will be returning to the Apollonion Resort and Spa in 2015. If you are in any doubt about booking this hotel, just do it, you will not be disappointed.More
