A lovely and very relaxing holiday
Just got back from 11 nights here, for a very welcome, total switch off holiday - it's a quiet location, with just a few bars and tavernas nearby. The whole site is really nicely landscaped, with some lovely touches of greenery and plenty of trees and flowers. Our ground floor room was quite a way away from the main pool / restuarant area etc, which suited us - it was clean, nicely decorated and very well appointed - everything we needed and a bit more. We never quite got round to visiting the Art Gallery but the installations of artworks around the place were great, and refreshingly non-corporate. Finally, a big mention for all of the restaurant staff, who we saw the most of: they were fabulous - really friendly, very warm and welcoming, with big smiles each day (ask them for their recommendations of where to go for a drink!) Buffet style dining wouldn't be our first choice, but this was mostly very well delivered, with plenty of options and all beautifully presented. Definitely recommend Apollonion for a relaxing holiday.More
Currently on our second stay at this hotel in as many years, and again it is wonderful and relaxing. On check in we were issued with free vouchers to use in the spa which we intended to use but never had time as we rented a car on this occasion. We also received a welcome back gift in our room (bottle of red wine, fresh fruits and 20% off all spa treatments), and midway through the week we came back to our room to find a selection of cakes and pastries in our room which is a very nice touch. One of the restaurants in the hotel 'La Pergola' launched a new menu half way through the holiday with more variety with lower prices as well. I got a gyros platter which came with fries, pitta bread, salad and tzatziki for €8 and is comparable with the taverna down the road. Also drinks prices have been reduced in correspondence to the menu change; a large Mythos was €5, is now €4.50, small is €3.50 (happy hour 4-6, these would be €2.25 and €1.75). Thank you to all of the staff who have looked after us again, there were some familiar faces from last year but the new staff especially Ioanna on the bar are excellent. Hopefully we'll be back next year More
Good quiet family holiday
Hotel set in lovely grounds. Pool area quiet and easy to get a sunbed any time of day. Room was clean, spacious and upto date. Wifi was fantastic, art gallery worth a visit and good play areas for younger toddlers. Restaurant was busy, however although food was of good quality, variety was limited and beaware the doors to the food will be shut bang on time, leaving you unable to get dessert etc. The biggest problem with the hotel was getting a drink. The bar staff were friendly however they were extremely slow with all aspects of service. The prices were high and you are a captured guest as the hotel is very isolated. Evening entertainment was also very lacking. The friendly hotel cat, nick named ginger ninja by our younger family members was much loved and they looked forward to seeing him everyday. Overall we all had a lovely, relaxed fun filled holiday.More
Fantastic hotel and holiday
We just got back from a week at this hotel. Highly recommend. Lovely hotel. Staff are so friendly especially giannis the waiter and Antonis the maitre d' hotel. Beach is a five minute walk and is beautiful. Variety of delicious food to suit all. Loved seeing the friendly cats every morning and evening. Perfect break to relax will definitely return. Thank you More
Excellent hotel in quiet location
This is a delightful hotel set in immaculate grounds in a very quiet but picturesque area. The rooms are lovely, clean and spacious and all have balconies or terraces. The beds are quite firm, but you can request a mattress topper if you prefer a softer option. All rooms come with a free safe and a fridge, but take a travel kettle if you like to have hot drinks in your room. The hotel facilities are very good, with a massive swimming pool, spa centre, children's playground and indoor play area, pleasant restaurant and bar and a small outdoor cinema. The majority of the staff, especially on reception and in the restaurant were extremely pleasant and helpful and spoke excellent English. Compliments to the chef and his staff who worked extremely hard to produce a fantastic choice at both breakfast and dinner. Drinks prices at the hotel were on the expensive side - 9 euros for a gin and tonic, unless it was happy hour when drinks were half price. If the drinks prices had been more reasonable then guests would have spent more time in the bar in the evenings rather than sitting on their balconies with drinks from the local mini market. There is only one small shop within walking distance of the hotel, which sold essentials, so it is a good idea to take snacks, tea, coffee, a bottle/can opener, chocolate and any other of life's necessities with you. The beach and shop are a short walk away, with sun loungers available below each beach bar which were free to use at the time we were there at the beginning of June. There are three or four cafes/beach bars overlooking the beach which were good value for lunch and drinks. There is also a fairly new boutique hotel called Costa Rossa next to the beach which has a very pleasant terrace where you can enjoy lunch with a view. This is a place for a relaxing, quiet beach holiday in beautiful surroundings. If you want shopping and nightlife then it is probably not for you as it is a taxi ride to the nearest town and buses are very infrequent. This hotel is suitable for all ages, but particularly good for couples and families. There were many families with grandparents, parents and children all holiday together. The pool was very popular with families but never felt crowded and there were plenty of sun loungers and the hotel provided towels for the pool. The outdoor cinema is a great idea and the spa was very good, although treatments and massages were more expensive than back home. We were surprised that you had to pay extra to use the jacuzzi, which was actually an indoor hot tub. Guest might have been more inclined to use the hot tub if it had been outside. The art gallery at the hotel is well worth a visit. Overall, this hotel is hard to fault and I would definitely consider another stay. We had a lovely relaxing week, superb weather and good food - just pick up some drinks at duty free on the way!More
