I visited kefalonia lixouri & stayed at apollonion resort & spa hotel in May 2016 for 7 nights. Booked via Thomson on half board basis We had a duplex suite with limited sea view with private pool/jacuzzi.
Kefalonia island airport is very small we Collected our bags & went through passport control. instead of been waved through like everyone else..been of asian descent we were throughly scrutinise & passport control felt like forensic examination. What does this double standard suggest it really is unjustified & distasteful .... Thankfully this was the only bad experience i had.
Once the so called passport control was over we boarded our coach & were taken to the ferry port at agostina which was only about 10-20 mins away after which we boarded the ferry to lixouri which took about 30 mins. The ferry runs about every 30 mins and is very reliable. Once at lixouri we then got back on the coach and were taken to our hotel which took about 10-20 mins.
Once at the hotel the hotel was amazing it is beautifully maintained. The rooms are very clean along with the hotel the place is of a very high standard. The staff go out of there way to help you and I was really impressed. All staff were courteous and all amazing the customer service you receive is outstanding I really can't complain.
The duplex suite was really tastefully decorated and all fixtures looked new. I really liked the power shower and toiletries.
There is also complimentary slippers and gown provided for your stay. Outside there is a seating area and table and chairs which leads onto the small private pool/jacuzzi which leads into a large communal pool. The pool is not heated and was freezing but I still loved it once in we got use to it.
The buffet breakfast & dinner was good however as a vegetarian the dinner was very similar every night but still I was happy with it & desert were fab. You pay extra for drinks a bottle of water is 3 euros in the restaurant.
There is a spa facility which gets booked up quickly..I wasn't able to book my massage due to availability so if you want this book early.
There is an outdoor cinema which I liked it's only small but perfect & blankets are provided at the front desk as it can be chilly outside in the evenings.
There also a museum of art but I never managed to go to this.
The hotel was very quite and secluded this place is best for those seeking peace & quiet.
All in all I had a great stay really enjoyed myself and would stay there again.More
This hotel is idyllic, beautifully designed and kept. The staff could not have done any more to make our stay perfect, I was treated like royalty. I had a medical issue, they were instrumental in helping to get me back on track. The restaurant manager is an absolute gentleman Elina Anastasia and Alex in the bar lounge are wonderful. Viorel Fay Aris and Smilie Girl in the main restaurant were there in attendance constantly. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough More

Destination 'bliss' at this wonderful hotel
First have to admit to this being our 5th stay at the hotel which is now more like home from home but it is only fair to say it never disappoints and just gets better. Set in a lovely quiet location this is a gem of a hotel for couples offering excellent rooms and facilities. The icing on the cake though is the staff who could not be more welcoming, helpful or friendly, whether it is your first time or like us returning again. In fact the only thing that could have been improved upon from past years was the Maitre D and now they have done that as well! (Already planning next years visit).More
our 2016 visit.
It`s not a review. My Wife and I are looking forward to our third visit in three years to The Apollonion. Can`t wait. We came first with my wifes sons wedding. The HOTEL STAFF couldn`t do enough for the guests, numbering 35-40. The whole experience was absolutely stunning. We went back last year on our own and had a great time.....we are really looking forward to our third visit.More
