Third visit, best yet
This was our families 3rd visit to the Apollonion and it really was our best visit yet. We stayed in the executive suite which is just perfect for our family of four. The kids love the large private pool and having their own bedroom is definitely a plus. We made good use of the spa, where the staff are friendly and helpful, a perfect way to really unwind. The food at the hotel was great, a good variety of options for breakfast and various themed nights for evening meal. Compliments to the chef, he really makes sure there is delicious food for everyone. The kids enjoyed playing in the games room in the evenings whilst we sat at the bar. The waitresses were friendly and Joanna mixed the perfect Negroni. La Pergola was perfect for lunch, a new menu with some great Greek street food. Overall the peaceful atmosphere and the quality of this hotel makes it the perfect hotel for our family. Thanks to all of the staff at the Apollonion for looking after us so well. More
Well what can I say about the Apollonion. Wow! We stayed in room 121 Delux Duplex, what a fantastic room overlooking the huge pool. The staff were fantastic, they really do work tirelessly and always very polite, courteous, cheerful, helpful and efficient. My thanks go to all of them from the General Manager who is always around checking everything is how it should be, to the Head Chef who is always to be seen at meal times to make sure the food is replenished efficiently, the staff are working efficiently and the food areas are clean and tidy, and to the waiters, waitresses and bar staff who are always their to serve and ensure you have everything you need and are well attended to. To the cleaners who looked after us so well so we could truly have a break from the daily chores of life. The receptionist who checked us in on the evening we arrived, we didn't arrive until late and there was quite a large group with one member of staff on duty, I thought blimey this is going to take a while, but no how wrong could I be, she was so polite and super efficient we were checked in and in our fantastic room in no time at all. Such a lovely lady. The hotel is located within a 5 minute walk to the Xi beach, yes the beach is busy but there are also quieter areas as well to suit all. The water is very safe for young children and the coastline is beautiful. Lixouri is a beautiful little town with some very nice restaurants and shops and I have to say the transport is very efficient from the hotel to Argostoli you can be in Argostoli within about 40 minutes and you get a lovely ferry trip which adds to a lovely experience. I have travelled significantly and I have to say I can't find any faults with this hotel or it's location at all and is one of the best hotels I've stayed in. The hotel is simply beautiful as is the area it's located and the Island that it is located on. The hotel is absolutely immaculate. We have absolutely no complaints whatsoever. If prospective travellers are worried about the transfer from the airport to this hotel, don't be I think the ferry ride adds to the experience and only adds to making the trip a nicer experience. The ferries are so efficient they run every 15 minutes, so when you arrive there will either be one in port or one on its way in and they run from early in the morning until gone midnight. My sincere thanks to all the staff at this hotel, you should be really proud of the service you provide to your guests and, to the people of Kefalonia who are such lovely, friendly people. We hope to see you and your beautiful island next year.More

when we arrived my wife and i were spun of in a golf buggy to our rooms the room was very clean and tidy with a huge balcony room 262 although it wasnt exactly a partial sea view in my opinion which was extra but was a very nice view the sun came up directly on our balcony. we where very happy with everything at this hotel the pool is very large the food was amazing lots of choice the head chef stands watching too make sure the food is perfect the serving staff are extremely good at what they do and are very hard working the only gripe we had but it was probably our fault for coming a bit later than we normally do was the floaters in the pool it was the start of the kids holidays but they where only enjoying there holiday never mind . the beach was lovely we used to walk down to the beach and go left just along by a little headland and along to fishbones taverna where there was sunbeds and was a little quieter and you could nip up for some food an a beer we are considering a return visit but a little earlier end of june we went on a thomsons excursion all round the island and the rep was excellent she knew her stuff it was marrissa she was really good we had a great holiday thanks to all the staff at the ApollonionMore
Our Fabulous Holiday
First time to this hotel after friend's recommendation. We travelled as two adults and a 16yr and 6yr. We stayed in 408 duplex apartment with own pool. We arrived late and found rolls and crisps for us waiting in our room. The room was spacious and the maids cleaned everyday replaced towels and toiletries , polite and professional. We ate breakfast and evening meal in the restaurant. The food was delicious and with a vegetarian amongst us we could all sample Greek food. There was plenty of choice daily. Also if you ordered a bottle of wine at dinner and you don't finish it they will gladly keep it cold for your next evening. All the staff were extremely professional and courteous. The manager greeted us every day with 'ah room 408' this was a nice touch to be remembered! My husband and I had the complimentary massage in the Spa (vouchers in your room) which was lovely and then we booked further treatments. I recommend the Cretan massage. Again all staff professional and welcoming. We hired a car for two days (we booked through Thompson, it's cheaper than the one next to the hotel) . We visited Mellisani caves, Sami ( lunch was nice in Riviera restaurant, very friendly people), Argostoli ( for souvenirs) Myrtos Beach which was spectacular ( I would recommend beach shoes if going in the sea as the beach is pebbles, and take own sunshade) Lixouri is quiet but worth a visit. On the way back to the hotel from Myrtos we stopped by a little place on the side of the road called 'Olive Musesum' you will find handmade crafts and jewellery, we bought two oil paintings done by the owner of scenes of Kefalonia. Nice to give something back to the community and have a keepsake that is not mass produced. The ferry from Lixouri to Argostoli runs every 15 mins and is a lovely way to cool off and enjoy the views. If you can or feel inclined try a few words of Greek, everyone is so friendly they really appreciate it. I managed Kalimera 'good morning ' and Efcharisto 'thank you' not much I know but will try more next year because we intend to return.😃More
Perfect location for a relaxing holiday!
We have just returned from 10 days at the Apollonian (July 2017), myself, my husband and our 5yo daughter. This is actually our second visit, but the first time with our little girl. We opted for 10 days half board and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The resort is spotless, beautifully designed, spacious and modern. It's a short walk to xi beach down the road, but we only went once, preferring the serenity of the pool. Nice beach but a bit busy for us. The food is first class. My chef husband loves it, and that's saying something! Our daughter also loved the food and we never struggled to find something we liked from the bountiful buffet. The drinks were hotel prices but good quality, so no complaints. The spa is excellent, we went more than once and found the treatments very reasonably priced, and the staff there were very good at what they do. Our room was very nice, with a patio and garden view on the ground floor. It was a small room with three of us but we managed fine, we really didn't need to spend much time in there, apart from getting ready and sleeping. The air con and wifi worked very well in the rooms. The wifi actually worked well everywhere, and was free. Housekeeping were excellent and the rooms were left spotless every day. We all slept well, the beds are good quality and comfortable and the resort is quiet during the night, we weren't disturbed once by noise. We ventured out into Lixouri town twice, just for a change of scenery and enjoyed sitting in the cafes on the main square, people watching. It was just €10 each way in a taxi. We are saving our highest praise for the staff. Every single member of staff we encountered was friendly, helpful and professional. There are a few who went out of their way to make our daughter feel welcome and in particular we'd like to thank Antonis for being so sweet. The staff there work very hard, front of house and behind the scenes to make your holiday perfect and we really appreciated it. It won't surprise you to hear we will (hopefully) return to the Apollonian again in the future! Thanks for everything! The Adams-Burton family.More
