Where to start?
The staff, each and every one, are a true credit to the manager. They ensured everything was smooth and enjoyable.
A special thanks to Niki, she oversaw some special requests for my partner that helped make her stay memorable and romantic.
To the bar! As with reception, exceptional service. The fact they knew our names each day made us feel welcome and the drinks were impeccably made. The entertainment ranged from traditional to ambient and was never intrusive. It added to the relaxed and chilled vibe the resort promised.
Let's eat. The restaurant is well laid out and provides the perfect dining experience, staff are very attentive and also unobtrusive. Plates are removed without fuss and drink requests are prompt where possible.
The food was excellent and all tastes are catered for, even those that don't travel abroad to sample local food with chips and roast dinner options available each night. The maître d' deserves great credit for his patience and humour, again remembering us each night. There is a dress code for evening meal but isn't strictly followed and given the heat and holiday setting it's understandable.
I am aware there is a haute cuisine restaurant and had heard good things from people we met on the resort but we were happy with the main restaurant.
Time to relax. The main pool is immaculate and spacious there are ample sunbeds with the customary umbrellas and tables and you are guaranteed sunshine, there was a little bit of 'towel claiming' first thing so if that's your hangup then you might want to get up early. Personally it was of no issue where you found the sun. I had arranged a massage, thanks Niki, for my partner and she loved it. The spa is excellent and has regular special offers through your stay. There is a games room with pool tables etc and a small gym but who goes on holiday for that? Given you have the crystal clear sea to swim in and fantastic vistas to discover that's all the fitness you'll need.
There is an art gallery also which has some beautiful pictures and notable artists on display also, worth a look around. It's free to view also.
Tired teddies. The room is functional and immaculately cleaned each day. Again the staff are friendly and helpful. Very comfortable beds, the balcony had a view of the pool, also the sea in the distance. Air conditioning kept things cool and electric shutters for blackout if needed. The TV gives access to news channels and pay per view. One word of warning, adult movies are available next to normal movies so may be advisable to be careful if your child has the remote!
Decent water pressure for the bath and shower; twin sinks give a lovely feeling to your stay. There is a hairdryer, fridge and safe but no tea making facilities, again was no issue.
Advice? Hire a car, we hired a Jeep thru our rep and was decent value. The Jeep was fun to drive and lacked any modern features which added to the whole experience.
Use the ferry and also take the premium trip to Argostoli, fantastic.
Support the local trade as much as possible, things are tough but they still offer affordable goods and are so respectful and polite.
Anything else? It is a beautiful place, every step is one of peace and serenity. Each person you meet is a true reflection of the island, welcoming and relaxed. Whatever turmoil the main has suffered doesn't show on the surface and this is a credit to the people we encountered. If only life could always be this peaceful and unhindered by greed and possession it would be a much better world.
This was truly a memorable holiday, break, for us both. It rekindled so much we had lost thru stresses and strains at home and this can only be praise to the island, the people and of course the resort and all its staff. Thank you, sorry, efharisto para poli.

Just returned from an amazing 10 nights at the Apollonion. Lovely hotel: clean, spacious rooms, spotlessly clean swimming pool, stunning grounds (in full bloom in September!), fantastic art gallery showcasing maodern Greek art.
Thank you to the staff for keeping on smiling even at the end of a long and tiring season (blame economic situation in Greece!). Thanks particularly to Stoikos, Andreas, Marina & Dimitris, and the magical maid who slipped in every day to clean our room entirely undetected.
Xi beach is only a 5 minute walk down the road: several nice tavernas here (Baywatch particularly good during the day: thanks Martina!!). Lixouri is a 15 minute taxi ride.
Spa also fantastic with very reasonable prices: thanks Sarah and Konstantina!
If you want a relaxing break than you can't do much better than here; great value for money (free wi fi was useful: even managed to stream a few football games!). If you want more in the way of evening entertainment it's better to travel into Lixouri or Argostoli. Beware if hiring a car: roads are not for the faint hearted (think hairpin bends.
In all, a fabulous stay.More

We stayed at the Apollonion from 10/09/15 to 20/09/15 with 2 small children. We found this hotel to be fantastic for a relaxing break.
The room and pool area were both kept very clean. One minor criticism that I have is regarding the chemicals that are used in the pool. All our white swimwear turned yellow! Also, our room had 2 twin beds. A double bed would have been more comfortable.
Food was also good. Breakfast would benefit from a little bit more variety. More cereals and fruit would be good. No complaints regarding dinner. For lunch, there are a few tavernas close to the hotel which are very reasonably priced and serve good food.
I was also very impressed with the hotel offering a room for us to use as a late checkout facility.
In terms of location, there isn't much nearby and a car would be required if you wanted to visit more than the hotel and beach.
With regard to the previous review regarding noisy children in the restaurant, I would suggest that if you are looking for a child free relaxing break, book an adults only hotel!
I would highly recommend this hotel and it is likely that we will return.More
Wonderful hotel on a beautiful island
First time to Kefalonia and I can't recommend it enough. A beautiful island that is really worth exploring. This hotel provides a perfect base to do just that. Previous reviews have said it all really - spotlessly clean, quiet, peaceful. The wifi was fine for what you need on holiday and the food was varied and tasty. Im a vegetarian and always found there to be plenty of options for me. The staff are very friendly and extremely attentive - particular thanks to Marina in the restaurant and Fay and Nikos behind the bar- thankyou!! If you want a place to stay in Kefalone you really don't need to look anywhere else!More
