Panorama Studios and Apartments

For a lively holiday within striking distance of the beach, the no-frills Panorama Studios and Apartments are spot on. There's a small pool and sun terrace outside, plus bars and restaurants on the doorstep.

If you want a simple base near Stalis beach, this place is ideal. It’s on the main beach road, just a minute’s walk from the sand. Plus, it’s in the heart of the action, with a great mix of bars, shops and restaurants on the doorstep.

In terms of facilities, the complex concentrates on the essentials. The pool sits to one side of the apartments, flanked by sunloungers and parasols. There’s a music bar here, too, with staff ready to bring your drinks and snacks direct to your sunlounger. Plus, the Panorama has its own stone-built bar right next to the beach.

On the food front, you’ve got an open-sided restaurant facing the street. It’s a casual affair where you can sit down to things like pizzas and crepes at both lunch and dinner.

As for accommodation, the studios and apartments are basic but comfortable, with whitewashed walls and good-sized balconies or terraces.

I went to panorama last year and again this year and loved it!! We was there when all the safes were getting broken into this year and I think the staff did everything they could to help the holiday makers. Our rep was lovely but got rushed of her feet alot with mouning holiday makers who were complaining about everything they could!! The room are very basic but you are in greece after all and can not expect the same as in the uk. We did only have 2 chairs between 4 people In the studio however we used the chairs outside as well with no problem, we also had the right amount of cutlery. We was in a studio on thr second floor and had no cockroaches and our air con worked fine (you just need to change the settings to suit you the best) we had no problem with towels and bedding, the maids came in every day (apart from their 2 days off) and cleaned the room and made our beds. Our bedding were changed once half way through our 2 weeks. We had clean towels every other day during our stay too. As for money I would recomend taking a cash passport , there is a bank a 5 min walk away at the supermarket. Most of the resturants and shops take the card as payment but not all so do check before you go in to eat or shop. The staff at panorama are very nice and helpfull. No problem is to big for thwm. Manos who is in the bar/ resturant is lovely and always makes the children feel confortable, he often goes to the beach in the afternoon and builds sand castkes with the kids or swims in the sea with you. Ben is at the beach bar and is very helpfull, he will always make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need on the beach, he waits on you hand and foot!!! All in all a very lovely place with very nice and helpfull people. I will be going back next year and I would recomend this to anyone as it has something for all ages!!! More

loved it here, will definately go back

stayed first 2 weeks in august 2014, it was quite clear on the first day that a few families had some issuses with money going missing........we didnt use the safe as a result but i have to say we had a great time, the only problem we had was that the shower head was broke, reported it and within an hour it had been replaced, yea the room was basic but what do you expect, it is greece after all manos and andreas who work in the bar was great, always made time to sit with us and chat, even re opened the bar for us late 1 night....... we met some lovely people, some that worked there, we would definately go back to the same hotel, we have already agreed on that i WOULD recommend this hotel, and i cant wait to go back, miss it already only been back a weekMore

Worst accommodation ever !!!!

Worst accommodation we have ever stayed at in over 40 years of overseas holidays. We booked & paid for 1 bed apartment put in studio. For 'basic' read 'Shoddy', Badly maintained. Air con not working properly. There were 4 of us only 2 chair, 3 cups/saucers/3 plates/3 sets of knives & forks etc. Essentially a 3 person room. Managed to get room we booked after one week. Although larger not really any better. Air con not working properly. Bedding & towels only changed once in the 2 weeks we stayed. First day we arrived guests were realising they had money stolen from locked safes. We didn't bother with the safe so all our money & documents etc. we carried about with us at all times. Hotel/Restaurant would not take Thomson money card and neither would a lot of the shop/Bars in Stalis .Hotel management were not bothered or helpful in any way only when Thomson stepped in did we get what we paid for. Stalis resort is great as are most of the restaurants Stay at the Panorama at your peril.More

Jim W,

Amazing holiday at panarama

Just got back from our 4th holiday at panarama hotel/apts. Disappointed by some peoples review.sorry u didnt have a great time. BUT WE DID.we have been going to stalis for 12 years or more. by far panarama is in the nicest location the staff are friendly and always willing to help the owners are lovely my little boy loves them and never want to leave them. manos runs the bar and always spends his time off playing on the beach they love families. It was very hot this year so the air con is always a must and would recommend it weve never had any problems with our safe and in fact this year my husband actually forgot to shut it on one day. All our money and belongings were still there on return including ipad and game console. We did have a few cochroaches but were dealt with and it is summer and we are in a garden area and we always stay on bottom floor. We were told by eva and manos they would move us we didnt want too. Its not a problem but they did offer to move us and they were dealt with. Panarama is family run and they want your stay to be pleasant and a happy one. Beach bar is run and very well looked after by benny and he works so hard to make sure everyone is happy nothings too much trouble he always makes sure your umbrella is up when its hot hes great fun also. Woukd I recommend panarama to friends and family. YES EVERYTIME. We will be back next year for sure we are already looking. Didnt see the rep much but we didnt need too she was around and always said hello. Pool is checked daily and chemicals added daily we are usually sat watching as others do. Happy family love panarama love stalis and love the family there. Xxx More

Becky1900 L,

Panorama Hotel? No --studios

Stayed here from the 20th July for a fortnight with my husband and grandson. Stalis is pleasant enough and the Panorama is well placed on the main street, with the main road at the back. It's quiet despite being surrounded by bars and restaurants and the swimming pool is a good size set in pleasant surroundings. Plenty of sunbeds but some parasols had seen better days and were broken. The bar/eating area was comfortable and pleasant with friendly, hard working staff. Food was good and service was very good.Prices were reasonable for most meals but a ham and pineapple pizza, chips and a milkshake came to 14 euros...stick to Greek! Kitchen is visible from the restaurant area...all clients could see it was spotlessly clean. Rooms are a good size and are reasonably clean. Cooking facilities are very basic but as always in Greece, if you need something more just ask. Not many studios do inventories any more and it is problem. Towels were changed every other day...some a bit shabby, some OK. Not happy? Ask for them to be changed! Thomson's description states bedding changed once per week....and it is. Many studios exceed this but it is in fact the basic contractual requirements in Greece with most tour operators for this grade of accommodation. I can imagine it would be pretty uncomfortable for those who didn't pay for air-con but that's what they signed up for when they booked..... Throughout the Greek islands, air-con usually costs around 7 euros per day in low to mid season. If it's so important to you, enquire from your tour operator before you book as to the local charges. Otherwise, it's negotiable once you get there! At the height of the season you can expect to pay more. We had two rooms and paid 160 euros for the two weeks and the air-con worked perfectly in both rooms for the whole fortnight. On being asked about a safe key, I declined, telling the owner that we had been coming to Greece for almost twenty years and we had found the Greeks to be honest people and that we had never found it necessary to make use of safe facilities. The owner looked at me, smiled and threw me a safe charge was made. Our two rooms were on the ground floor and during our stay we had visits from cockroaches, as did all the rooms on the ground floor in our block. We told our rep, Louisa, and this resulted in action being taken. By the beginning of the second week they were pretty much scarce. I put this down to having cultivated garden areas around the rooms as they seemed to come from there. Our rep certainly had her hands full during the two weeks we were there and it seemed to me she was always on hand to help. She held meetings with the holiday makers who reported thefts from their locked safes and assisted them when reporting the matter to the police. There is no legislation in place anywhere (including the UK) that protects people from theft....unless the premise owners have been negligent, victims cannot expect to be compensated by either they or the tour operator. This seemed to be the biggest grievance at the Panorama by justifiably angry holiday makers. We felt that our rep was dedicated to making our holiday as pleasant as possible and we hope she seeks a job with Olympic tour operator as we usually travel with them! All in all we had a very good holiday but we would not return to Stalis as it is not generally our choice of resort...we chose it because we had a teenager with us! Plenty to do and just a stone's throw from Malia but not for us. :)More
