On arrival at the hotel it looked nice reps were there to give us our welcome meeting. €25 for safe for the week which I didn't think was bad, air con though it was €50 and it wasn't a deposit quite much for 1 week. Noticed there was no lifts and we were on top floor of apartments with spiral stairs this hotel is no good for people with health conditions or walking problems unless your on the ground floor. When entering the room we noticed horrible dirty blood stained walls there was 1 fork and 3 knives in the drawer when there was 3 of us staying. The bed sheets weren't changed all week and towels changed once. I had complained to reps about the shower been cold for two days they said just keep it running for half an hour and it would go warm but it didn't I then complained to a member of the bar staff who said there was nothing he could do reception was closed and to come back tomorrow and he also laughed at me i also spoke to a barmaid who said they would put a note down at reception which never made it there. After mentioning it finally to reception she wasn't made aware about it and didn't seem to pleased about it however called technician and personally came to find me which was good of her. Overall the food was good the maids were really friendly just didn't clean room as much, the barmaid the little one was lovely and very friendly. I probably wouldn't stay in the hotel again purely because of the stair situation and it wasn't advertised when booking holiday so technically wasn't the hotels fault. Also I believe a reception at a hotel should be open 24/7 incase of any problems but wasn't. Hope this helps readers More
Firstly, let me say that we are not fussy. We have just return from a one-week holiday here arriving home on the 17-09-2017. The photos you see are either both very old and don't reflect the current state of the place, and some are even of another place entirely. This is without doubt the worsted accommodation I have ever been in anywhere. So why! 1) absolutely no hot water except for one-hour late in the day due to the sun heating (or not) the solar roof panels. No kitchen utensils of any kind, no pots pans, one bent spoon one knife, two plastic plates and cups. A cooker at eye height (illegal) that didn't work. No plugs in any sink, no shower curtain. Two of the oldest towels I have ever seen. A toilet that ran all day and night, sewerage that leaked from it and the central drain in the bathroom flooded with sewerage ever time the people above us used their bathroom. Hard beds that were filthy and the pillows where discussing. The TV had only one channel (BBC World News) It was an old 14" portable type with faulty picture. Curtains hanging off the rail. Broken table and two odd broken chairs and no balcony chairs at all. Broken towel rack. etc etc. Oh yes, the photo's of a welcome pack and the nice furniture - forget that, they don't do welcome packs anymore, and the young don't want nice furniture. So if your young feel taken advantage of. We are in our late forties by the way so certainly no over the hill yet The cleaners never did anything except tidy the only sheet and empty the bins if they remembered. Totally time in apartment each day by our cleaners was les than 3-minutes. We complained firstly to the owner who said your not buying the room just renting it, just enjoy the sun and be happy. What do you expect for just over £418? Then to our Thomson rep., who said much the same, except he added that the young kids don't mind they are used to it. My twenty something year old children certainly do mind. All I can say is some of these fine reviews are unreal or written by someone intoxicated. Secondly, the location is noisy and ideal for party lovers only, very poor and run down, but nice local people who seem genuinely friendly, as are most Greeks that we have encountered over many years. The local food is good but avoid eating at the Ilios at all costs it's both expensive and badly cooked. A beer here is almost double that of most other places. We only ever travel through Thomson these days as they have always been great. We were truly shocked, by this being a Thomson recommended holiday. This was our third holiday this year through Thomson and in tree-weeks time we're off again with Thomson and we would be surprised if we ever encountered anything like this again. You have been warned, travel at your own risk!!! R & Y ThomasMore
Best Girls Holiday Expierence
Me and 3 other friends stayed in Ilios Malia Apartments for our first ever girls holiday. The holiday is straight on the strip and is easy accessible for everything! We were close to all of the events including the pool parties, boat parties and all of the clubs! The hotel staff were so welcoming and so cheerful! They made us feel very welcome and we were absolutely delighted with our stay! I would not recommend staying anywhere else in Malia! Our reps were fantastic and helped us with everything that we required. Very reasonable food at a low price. The bar staff were amazing and were as much of a part of our holiday as we were, George, Sam and Snoop were so friendly and welcoming! I would highly recommend staying here while in Malia! I wish I'd never left! And would 100000% stay there again!More
Cheap and cheerful
Booked as last minute deal for me and my partner. Payed £500 odd for a week self catering. Bearing in mind we didn't pay much we still had to pay the hotel 50€ for aircon & 25€ for safe key & 30€ late check out. Basic but clean studio apartment , hot water was only turned on once a day which wasn't an issue for us because it was so hot the cool water was welcome. Only issue we had was the house keeping came in any time of the day to clean whether you were sleeping or not. Right on the strip so it's ideal place for groups of friends. More
Well I hope my review out weighs the negatives! This apartments are excellent located right on malia strip! The apartments it's self are comfortable, all your in there is to shower and sleep, daily maid service ensuring apartment is clean, food well breakfast at €2.80 how can you beat that! Staff very friendly especially bar staff and reception lady she is very pleasant and helpful! Snoop bar man a total superman 😂😂 Our Thomson reps Kay & Connor went all out to make sure our trip was so enjoyable! 🙌🙌 Please don't pit the negative comments put you off as those who expect 5* should go there and pay the price! Best self catering I've experienced well done IIios and team and Thomson really enjoyable trip dread going home on Tuesday haha 🌞🌞🌞🙌🙌🙌🎉🎉More
