Located at the top of Malia's buzzing strip, this lively property is a great base for enjoying the town's beaches and nightlife. There's a decent-sized pool with a swim-up bar, too.
It’s the friendly atmosphere that draws guests back to the Hotel Frixos & Apartments year after year. There’s a social pool area and a bar serving big buffet breakfasts.
This place is a 5-minute walk away from the main strip, tucked between shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. It’s only about a 20-minute walk from a couple of beaches, too.

I have just come back from a week's holiday staying at one of their apartments. We have had a amazing time! The apaparment was defiantly big enough for the four of us. Staff are amazing holly makes you feel so welcome and apart of the family. "Joey" is amazing too he is always happy to help you out when crawling back from the strip. Drinks and food are well priced and the bar man at night is always happy to give you some free shots🍹 Can't wait for next year!! More
Just come back from a week's holiday in Malia staying in this amazing hotel and I couldn't fault it. The place was close enough to the Malia strip that you could walk back and forth, but far enough away that the music didn't disturb you on a night. The rooms were spacious enough and the balconies gave some great views of the area. The pool was huge and lovely to cool yourself down in from the heat. One of the main highlights of this hotel though has to be the staff. Every single one of them is lovely and they can't do enough for you. They are friendly and polite and really made my holiday. James the bar man was friendly and always helped us out. But the best staff member of that hotel had to be Holly. She was so lovely and really went the extra mile to make the holiday special, as she took the time to talk to us and help out. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She is a credit to her team and they are lucky to have her. All the team is amazing and your sure of a warm welcome. In terms of reps Lou was amazing and she helped to make our holiday. She came round everyday to see how we were and to get the stories for the night before! Overall this hotel is amazing and I would recommend to anyone looking for a holiday in Malia. Team Frixos will make your stay amazing, you won't be disappointed!!! #malia #holiday #teamfrixos #memoriesMore
Pleasant will return.
*Sorry for the long review* Me and my friend visited Frixos during the first week of June for a girls break away. The hotel is very pleasant and it is exactly what you paid for. Some elements such as the pool and bar area at the front of the hotel were beautiful and extremely nice for a 2 star hotel. The hotel is also off the road and situated down a Warren of little paths (luckily the reps meet you off the coach or we wouldn't have found it) and around a 5 min walk to the main strip, meaning that at night it's lovely and quiet after the hotel bar music goes off around 2am. However, in our room the shower attachment to fix it to the wall had snapped off, so we had to shower holding the shower head above us, occasionally our patio door would jam and we couldn't gain access to the balcony, and we also paid 40€ for aircon and it was useless. And occassionally our fire alarm would go off throughout the night. The staff were lovely. Very friendly to a degree and made it a pleasant stay. Bed and breakfast was continental, toast, fruit, cereal and coffee. When we booked the holiday our travel agent didn't mention it was a 'scene' hotel- we just paid for a cheap holiday and wanted to get on with things ourselves. When we arrived at Frixos, after around 13 hours of travelling from home we were greeted by two 18-30 Thomson reps. They followed us straight into our room and started selling us excursions and club passes. We told them we wanted to think about it and we'd come find them in 30 mins once we'd showered and got out of our heavy travel clothes, but they told us "they werent leaving because the deal was so good they couldn't promise it us again in 30 mins". They told us they would both be at these fantastic parties and because it was our first time in Malia we had to book it. To get them out of our room we both paid 100€ for the club passes, boat trip, Candy club and Crystal beach club. As soon as they got our money they left our room. If we both go again we definitely won't buy any of the passes. We will just do it ourselves. There is so much to do on the strip you don't need to book any extras. One of the younger reps always looked abit down. She would come sit with us at the pool bar, start chatting and then get her phone out and ignore us. If we had purposely booked the holiday for the use of the reps we would have been disappointed. By the 3rd day they'd forgotten our names and room number and nearly didn't give us the expensive ticket we'd bought for the events. Overall we'd definitely return. But wouldn't book any events. They didn't make or break our holiday.More
Lovely hotel but needs improvement
We stayed here in early June due to good and reasonable prices that Thomson was offering. The transfer from Heraklion airport to the hotel took around 45 - 50 minutes due to several drop offs. Once arriving at our drop off, we were met by one of the reps that directed us to the hotel. At first, we found this strange as normally we get dropped off straight in front of the hotel, but this was different. When walking to the hotel, the vibe that we got from the scenery wasn't great as you had to walk down an alley way which seemed deserted with abandoned supermarkets. Once we arrived, we checked in at reception where we was given the option to buy aircon for $50 or a safe for $25 for the duration of our stay. The manager and rep then kindly escorted us to the room that we were staying in, which our first impressions were shocked. There was a bad smell in the apartment, a liquid substance all over the bathroom floor which we didn't even know what it was, broken lamps on the wall, they didn't even provide a proper kitchenette, only a hot plate and a kettle which is nothing considering we paid for self-catering. Due to this, we was not happy so we demanded to switch rooms which the hotel manager seemed happy to do. Even though the other room we stayed in was not that much different, it was definitely more intact and much cleaner than the other one. However, the bathroom always gave out a bad smell once used as the drainage was not working properly and the shower seemed to overflow once used, therefore the bathroom door had to be closed when not in use. Due to being a scene hotel, most majority of the people that were staying there were between the ages of 18-30 which wasn't a big deal for us because we were there for a mixture of chilled days and lively nights. At the beginning of our stay it was very quiet, however it soon began to become busier and louder around our mid stay. The hotel is in a good location, 5 minute walk to the strip which is filled with loads of clubs, bars and restaurants and the beach is a 10 minute walk away. Hotel was a bit loud at night due to groups of youngsters coming in, drunk around 4-5am but didn't really bother us as we came back to the hotel roughly at the same time. The hotel is lovely, staff are friendly and helpful, however a few things do need improvement, such as decor and organisation i.e. hardly anyone at the reception whenever you needed someone. Overall, would stay here again but would be the last choice.More
Good hotel good holiday
Back in the UK after a week at the frixos in malia here is my review. First of all this a scene hotel which means it is similar to club 18 30 so for young people who come to Malia to party, looking at past reviews its obvious that some customers are not aware of this. We went with our 16 year old daughter and 21 year old son ,we went slightly out of the main party season and stayed in the main hotel on a band b basis. The hotel is about an hour from the airport depending on how many drop offs there are and about 10 minute walk to the centre of malia the strip. The coach cannot get directly to the hotel so there is about a five minute walk from the drop off point. Couldn't fault the hotel the rooms were cleaned regularly and had a fridge suggest that you will need air conditioning from June as very hot even with the windrows open, this is about 50 euros a week. The breakfast was OK what we expected really toast cheese boiled egg tomato cereal orange jiuce coffee and tea , Greek continental breakfast, they also do full English by the pool for 5 euros if you wanted it . The pool was clean and just about warm enough to swim we went 28 May. The bar was good round the pool and plenty of sunbeds available all the time, the food was good as well we ate their a few times. The hotel manager nicos was very nice and very helpful, there were also scene reps around the pool and hotel every day at various times they were also very good and helpful. The hotel has some one on reception 24 hours so very secure. We went for a week and really enjoyed the hotel no problems whats so ever and certainly no complaints. The walk to malia strip was about 10 minutes this is where all the action is !! usually after about 10.30 pm . The old town which is also 10 minute walk from the hotel is completely different from the strip and has a number of nice tavernas and restaurants and coffee shops. We only did one organised trip which was a full day to spinalonga taking in elounda and agios Nicko lias ,the Thomson trip was well organised and was enjoyable. There are local buses available again 10 minute walk from hotel if you wanted to explore the island on your own. Eating out was fairly cheap about 50 euros for 4 people starters and main and drinks , plenty of gyro places if you wanted to eat really cheap ! So overall great hotel for the money all the staff and manager were very helpful. The reps were always about if you needed them . The old town was good for us the strip good for the kids ! No surprises no problems. The only negative was the airport it was dirty and very small extremely crowded only 2 coffee bars, if its like this in May it would be horrendous in July and August. Thomsons do offer a lounge service which I think was 40 euros each I couldn't justify spending the 160 euros, but if you are a couple or single person definitely worth doing as the airport was one of the worst I've ever been to and I've been to a few. There were plenty of quad bikes and cars and scooters for hire as well we didn't bother. Anyway that's the lot thanks for a great holiday . More
