An introduction to Villa Thetis
For a taste of traditional Greece you can't go wrong with Villa Thetis. It's as authentic as they come. Cue rustic-looking stone walls, terracotta roof tiles and lots of wooden trimmings. Plus its walled gardens are wrapped within acres of olive groves. So despite being set on the edge of one of Crete's most cosmopolitan ports, it seems really secluded - yet the shops, bars and restaurants of Hersonissos are within easy reach.
Outside, the pool area takes centre stage. Set into a terrace dotted with sunbeds and parasols, it sets the scene for relaxation. A stone-built barbecue and al fresco dining area complete the picture.
Inside, meanwhile, the decor is fuss-free. They've used whitewashed walls, wood-beamed ceilings and stonework to great effect – giving it a homely farmhouse feel. The kitchen comes with terracotta-tiled floors and cottage-style cupboards. And they've kept things simple in the bedrooms, too, with tiled floors and fresh cream colour scheme. But with air-conditioning, a TV and a washing machine as standard, the villa comes with all the mod-cons you need.
As for the layout, there's an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area on the ground floor, as well as a shower room and double bedroom. Upstairs, you'll find two more bedrooms. One is a double with an en suite shower room. The other comes with twin beds. There's also a family bathroom here with a whirlpool corner bath. And the rooms share a balcony that overlooks the pool.
