The Villa Liagori gives you the best of both worlds – it’s in a quiet spot not far from all the action.
If you’re looking for somewhere that offers up total seclusion, the Villa Liagori really hits the mark. It’s set in the countryside on the outskirts of Hersonissos, so you can expect plenty in the way of peace and quiet. You’re not too far off the beaten path, though – the property is a 15-minute walk from the town centre, and the beach is just a little further on.
The villa itself is textbook Greece, with stone walls, a terracotta rooftop and wooden balconies. Immaculate gardens finish off the exteriors. Inside, it’s a similar set-up, with cobbled stone walls and wood-beamed ceilings setting the scene. Mod-cons aren’t forgotten, either – the villa comes with the likes of a TV and a fully-equipped kitchen.
Outside, things are geared up for taking it easy. The private swimming pool is bordered by loungers and a neatly-trimmed lawn. Best of all, there’s a barbecue for when you want to eat outside.

If you’re seeking somewhere you can appreciate the gorgeous Greek climate but want less of a traditional time away, Hersonissos is right up your holiday street. A modern resort overlooking the sapphire-blue seas, it won’t win many stars for authentic Greek atmosphere, but it’s a constant hit with the young crowd, attracted by its superb beach life and buzzing bars, restaurants and discos. And when it comes to kicking back, this town really knows how to do it, with three beaches to choose from. And whichever pocket of pillow-soft sand you decide to stretch out on, all offer great watersports, with some of the best facilities you’ll find anywhere on the island. For more thrills and spills, you also find the Star Beach Water Park here where you can brave the chutes and shoot down the scream-if-you-want-to-go-faster slides. Back in town you can browse the shops for bargain leather goods, while breathing in the fragrant scents of the herb and spice stores, selling produce from the mountains. Then it’s time to get ready for the evening’s activities. The focal point of Hersonissos’ nightlife is the attractive harbour area, teeming with waterside bars and restaurants, where you can enjoy anything from ‘moussaka’ to Mexican. However, if you prefer a more relaxed pace of life, you won’t be completely out of place in Hersonissos. The charming Old Town has quaint narrow streets, lined with friendly tavernas, while the villages of Piskopiano and Koutouloufari are perfect places to sit in a café, enjoy the traditional Cretan atmosphere and take in the magnificent views of the sea. Now all you have to do is sit back and relax.
