If romance is on the cards, there's no better place to whisk your loved one than the Eva Palace. Sitting on the beautiful Kommeno Peninsula, it looks like a royal's summer palace. Painted in soft creams with grand arches and touches of Moorish architecture, it could easily have fallen from pages of a fairytale book. Albeit a very chic one.
It's the same story throughout this sumptuous hotel. Step inside and the lobby more than set the luxurious tone. Cue sleek floors, elegant sofas and Moroccan-style lighting. Nothing is overdone, though. The cream decor, wood furnishings and neutral muted tones keep everything understated and classy. And it's like this wherever you go. Take the two restaurants. Enjoy Mediterranean-inspired cuisine at the gourmet Il Melograno restaurant, which sits on a terrace at the far end of the pool. With high-backed chairs, crisp, floor-length tablecloths and sparkling silver it's dressed up dining at its best. Or sink into one of the plump wicker chairs at the Terrazo Garden. With a wrap around al fresco terrace and views to die for, buffet restaurants don't come any more elegant than this. Then there are the spacious bedrooms which have soft lighting, plump pillows and four-poster beds draped with muslin. And all come with mini-bars, CD player and sea views as standard.
We've not even got to the best bit yet, the setting. Not does it sit in one of the most romantic spots along the Ionian coast, it's right by the beach. Just follow one of the paths through the hotel's exotic gardens and you'll wind up on a pretty sand and shingle cove, backed by thick olive groves. Of course, you could just stay by the lake-sized pool complete with a swim-up bar designed like a Greek temple. Sunk into a roomy sun terrace, it's dotted with islands of palm trees and is flanked by cushioned sun loungers, landscaped lawns and a poolside restaurant. Or maybe you'll go for some of the all-inclusive sports like tennis and watersports. There's an Elixir rooftop fitness gallery with a gym and sauna, too. And you'll find plenty of low-key activities on offer like dance lessons, cocktail courses and wine tasting. However you spend your time at this intimate five star retreat, one thing's guaranteed. Even if you don't come here to fall in love, you'll certainly fall in love with the Eva Palace itself.
