Park Hotel

in Gouvia , Corfu T rating: 3

  • Close to the centre of Gouvia
  • Large swimming pool
  • Handy for the beach
This place is great for a chilled holiday. It’s got a huge pool surrounded by lush gardens, plus it’s just minutes away from the heart of Gouvia.
This whitewashed, low-rise hotel is just a five-minute walk from the centre of Gouvia. It means you’ve got shops and restaurants - plus a bus stop for Corfu Town - virtually on the doorstep. And, closer still, you’ll find a good-size beach.

As for the bedrooms, they’re simply-styled and comfortable. Chunky wood –furniture and cream walls are the mainstays, while oversized headboards stand out against feature walls. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of light and lead out to a balcony. And air-conditioning, satellite TVs and minibars provide the supporting cast.

The gardens surrounding the pool area are a mass of green interrupted by fragrant citrus trees. As for the pool itself, it’s a huge semi-circular set-up with a bridge separating the children’s pool. Overlooking the whole thing is a bar and grill which does a great range of afternoon snacks and drinks.

For more on the dining front, head for the buffet restaurant. Breakfasts are a mix of British and Continental dishes, while evenings have more of a Greek slant. Expect thinks like tzatziki with hot pitta bread and souvlaki. Pick a table on the pergola-covered terrace for views of the nearby hills as you dine.

For after-dinner drinks, the bar has a good cocktail menu and also features weekly Greek nights with traditional music and dancing.
