Louis Family Resort

Flanked by acres of greenery and right on the beach, the Louis Family Resort showcases the best of Corfu’s scenery.

The Louis Family Resort is in a great spot for families. It’s set in spacious gardens, which means you’ve got room to stretch out. On top of that, you’re only ever steps from a small shingle beach.

Outside there are 3 pools. In terms of where to eat and drink, you’ve got a buffet place and an Asian à la carte. This hotel is part of our Thomson Family Resorts range, too, so there’s plenty on offer for children.

Infection in Hotel caused Hospital trip

We arrived for the half term break for the last two weeks of the season at around midday on the Friday - at first everything seemed OK, Hotel look nice, pool look good, etc. but during that first night my Little Girl came down with what we now to be Gastroenteritis, confirmed when she was admitted to Hospital after 4 days, with the possibility they said of salmonella! (although the stool sample only confirmed Gastroenteritis some time later - Corfu General Hospital) I only came down with this infection for about a day, but my partner came down with it for over 2.5 days and didn't really recover his hunger during the stay, as I didn't either. Later we found that this infection had been round the hotel for about two weeks before we arrived, with the hotel doing little until we repeatedly complained to our reps - visually they had hand held sanitizer bottles at the restaurant entrance and said all they rooms had been cleaned again. There are further accounts on this page further down to confirm these problems. Note: During this Whole episode, although the management offered us alternative accommodation at their sister hotel - HE NEVER APOLOGIZED to us! The Reps were OK dealing with this, but kept saying the same line over & over again! We stated to them that about 40% of the guest were poorly, as this was the number of people even complaining/ talking to us, with some other people having to go to hospital previously, and some staying in their rooms for days on end, But the Reps stated that ONLY 5% were poorly - which they seem to feel was acceptable? Not to me! When we asked them to carry out an survey to achieve a realistic number, they simply said they couldn't do this - but why? Our little girl did recover to have a better time in the second week and during the last few days of our second week, once we all felt somewhat better - the Kids club and daily games were really good, as a holiday should be. The pool was Good with very good views. But in summary - We should not have gone through this when the Hotel knew about this prior to our arrival and put our little girl and us through Hospitals, etc. This is Not acceptable for a Hotel to do this? We hope the owner/ management reply to this?More

Nice hotel lovely staff

I visited this hotel on the 3rd-10th October with my husband and 2 friends, I found the overall appearance of this hotel to be clean and well maintained, our room was thoroughly cleaned and the maids are exceptionally friendly. The food is amazing (and I'm a picky eater) the roast pork and roast beef was the best I've ever had, the Mura restuarant is a must visit the food was amazing. The bar staff were very friendly even when very busy. Unfortunately during our visit we had nearly 3 days of thunderstorms and torrential rain but the hotel staff worked incredibly hard to rectify any problems that this caused, also there was a stomach bug doing the rounds, my husband and friends husband had it, reading a previous review that sounded like the author blaming the hotel, it only takes one guest to arrive off colour to spread a bug, also it was mentioned that people were running from the restuarant being sick at no point did I witness this and also the fact that two of our group of four had this I cannot understand why they managed to go for dinner when our two was confined to the bed and bathroom for two days. This is not the hotels fault. During the time of this bug our only complaint was the hotel was putting chlorine into the drinks to eradicate the bug, this I found to be unacceptable without first being advised as to what they were doing we could not drink the soft drinks and water it was like drinking bleach. Also one evening I had a glass of chlorinated wine but the barman changed it instantly for a normal one. Corfu town is a must visit during the evening but avoid a Saturday evening as all the youngsters are out and the bars etc are extremely busy. Be careful buying the kumquat products as the prices vary a lot between shops. Just outside the hotel to the right of the entrance is a lidl store if you needed anything, also a fab clothes shop next door very cheap clothing and shoes. We do like to visit different countries each year but I would return here and most definitely for the amazing food.More

fab place

we went last 2 weeks of the season, and it was busy, didn't at all feel like they were shutting down, the food was amazing always, lots to drink, the barmen were always busy and polite, and I heard people rude to them too, why are people whinging about the children as it quite clearly states it as a family resort with kids clubs, so why moan about the kids and their reps. they did their job well. there were wasps but they didn't bother us really. my husband found the beds hard but he did sleep ok. the weather was ok but that's to be expected in October. we didn't need wifi as there were few computers you could use in reception. overall we love corfu been there 6 times, this hotel is a beautiful, ideal hotel for families. we would have loved more tradition, like greek music playing in the reception and dining areas not the jazzy stuff. really would love to go back but may try another Louis resort in another area. fabulous.More

3rd Return to a fantastic family hotel

I traveled here for the 3rd time from September 20th - 29th this year with my Fiance and 4 year old daughter. I have never returned to any hotel I have been too except this one. It was as good as the previous 2 visits and much of that is down to the amazing staff, George the manager, Spiridoula at receptions, reservations as well as the restaurant staff, bar staff and cleaners - sorry I didn't get everyone name. The staff are polite, friendly helpful and attentive, they always help you and are very genuine - thank you once again for a lovely holiday. Once again the food was delicious, it was fresh, always hot (the temperature was checked regularly throughout service) and the selection was vast and always lovely. I am a vegetarian and I was spoilt for choice, which can be rare when eating at all inclusives, but the food here caters for everyone well including vegetarians with a dedicated vegetarian section. My partner is a meat eater and loved the food also. There is a kids corner with food for fussier eaters but my daughter enjoyed the main selection which included, pastas, bountiful salads, veg in delicious sauces, rice etc. There is a lovely selection of hot and cold deserts too. There was more fruit available this year and I think that is a big positive. Aside from the main restaurant there is a pool bar that serves lovely fresh cooked pizzas, chips, pastries, salad and pastas, fruit and deserts. There was also fresh cooked doughnuts and chocolate sauce and ice creams. I think even the fussiest of eaters would eat well here. The bar serves a wide selection of local spirits, beers, wine, cocktails, champagne, teas and coffees - all of which are lovely. The spirits are generous and the cocktails lovely, Planters punch is still my favourite. The bar men are all lovely, polite, quick and you never wait long at all to be served. The late bites snack selection is available in the main bar from after dinner till close and this is alot better selection from last year. Nuts, popcorn, dried fruits, crisps, carrot / cucumber sticks and a selection of dips. A new large main pool has been added this year and its lovely, the toddler pool has also been added to with a slide and water squirting animals that my daughter loved. They also have a soft play and a playground for children. If you are traveling with babies or younger toddlers there is a baby room just off of reception/ main bar with a cot, kettle and changing and bottle making facilities. We have previously stayed in both a regular sea view family room and a sliding partion sea view family room and this time opted for the sliding door room as it offers a bit more privacy when traveling with children. It is a frosted glass so does allow light through but that was fine for us. The rooms are large with lots of storage space and a flatscreen tv. The bathrooms have a shower over the bath which is nice and powerful and always hot. The air conditioning is very good. There is a small fridge in the room which comes in handy and the cleaners leave a large bottle of water daily. The rooms are cleaner to a good standard daily. The views are truely beautiful - second to none, I have always upgraded to the sea view and its really worth it. I don't spend too much time in the room but its a lovely view to wake up to and to look out on in the evenings. Another new addition this year is an Asian restaurant 'mura'. We ate here once during our stay and it was lovely. Drinks and starters are table service and your main and deserts are self service. Again I enjoyed the food and vegetarians were once again well catered for. They have an inside and open section which is nice. The sea is lovely, warm and shallow for a long way out which is perfect for children and also good for snorkeling. You can feed the fish with bits of bread which my daughter loved doing. There is not really a beach but the sea and views make up for that. The grounds are green and full of flowers and well maintained, there are plenty of places to relax on a sun lounger all over the resort. I have been here in May, September and October and in May the fireflies are out at night which is a lovely sight. Although there is not much around the hotel I feel it is placed well for exploring the Island. Just a 15 min bus ride or 5 min taxi ride from Corfu town, and a bus stop right outside it which will take you all over the north of the Island. Corfu is beautiful and well worth exploring. We also made the trip over to Vidos Island which was lovely - so nice we went twice infact. it is only 2 euro return and the boat goes every hour till late at night, it has wild rabbits and pheasents everywhere, lots of history and a taverna. The beach is beautiful and great for snorkeling. The hotel is located a 15 min drive from the airport and thats very handy when traveling with children. Although I am not sure if I will make it again next year, I will return again to this hotel in the future, it is great for families and really is a lovely place - I would take the bad reviews with a pinch of salt.
