Guide to Acharavi

'With its Blue Flag beach, wooded hills and fun things to do, Acharavi has everything needed for a brilliant family holiday.'

If you're looking for a resort that sits halfway between big and boisterous and a restful backwater, Acharavi may well be it. Set on Corfu's north coast, it presents a family-friendly mix of attractions, from a seemingly never-ending beach, to a healthy supply of entertainment.
Having mushroomed from the original old town with its winding alleyways, it's not a bustling spot. Instead, a series of taverna-and-shop-lined roads snake to its beach. The sandy shores and clear, shallow waters have deservedly collected a Blue Flag – and since the beach shelves gently into the soft waves, it's an ideal playground for the little ones.
When you get peckish, the tavernas and bars trailed along the seafront provide ample choices, serving everything from authentic British grub to delicious fresh fish. When you're done, wander into the old town to hunt for typical Corfiot lacework and pottery, pausing to see the remains of the Roman baths still standing nearby. And don't miss the Hydropolis water park just out of town, where the kids can zoom down giant water chutes and coo over a mini-zoo.
For a change of scenery, follow a walking track into the cypress-scented hills or nip onto a tour bus to climb the slopes of Mount Pandokrator. On a clear day its summit reveals a magical panorama of green hills and the distant shores of Albania.

Acharavi will suit families and couples who put a fantastic beach, plenty of activities and stunning views at the top of their holiday list. Younger children will enjoy playing on the beach and paddling in the gently shelving sea. Older children can choose from a host of attractions, from hiring a windsurfer to visiting the nearby waterpark. There are plenty of lively bars, tavernas and discos to keep adults entertained in the evenings. Everyone will love the delicious food and the friendly atmosphere provided by the charming people of this wonderful resort.
