Lovely Rooms and people but food not to our taste
We had a room with a private pool and the relaxation and privacy it offered was amazing. Some people moaned about the noise the pool made whilst cleaning (and I thought I liked moaning) but it wasn't a problem for us. Pros; private pool and garden were superb. The room and bed were large and comfortable. The staff were all really helpful and friendly and are a credit to the hotel. Everything is clean and well looked after. Sunsets are stunning. Met some lovely people. Cons; Food wasn't particularly to our taste. A number of dishes were described as "we've taken a traditional dish and changed it." Why? No option of a big chunk of meat. All aimed at the older patrons with small portions. Some of us still have our own teeth! Food was fresher and tastier at the Mythos Taverna (600m walk away). The emergency exit light above the door in our room was way to bright and was like sleeping under a floodlight. The sun came through our bathroom window in the morning and reflected off the foil covered wardrobe straight into your eyes when you were in bed. Had to build an elaborate structure from chairs and sofa cushions to try to block the light. Nowhere to have a drink in the evenings out of the chill wind meant everyone went to bed early. Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday and would strongly recommend the hotel.More
Quiet, high-quality hotel by an uncrowded beach
We were unsure what to expect as this hotel can only be booked via Thomson and we normally organise our own travel and accommodation. But we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are airy and modern with plenty of space. The bathroom has a huge whirlpool bath and the separate shower also comes with a built-in steam maker so that it will turn into a sauna. Note that some rooms also come with their own private swimming pool but we didn't have one of those. What we did have was an upper floor room with a balcony with a nice sea view. It is worth pointing out that there are only two floors in all of the accommodation buildings. The staff were all excellent and happy to help with anything. There is a friendly bear of a dog called Irra (no idea how to spell it but just roll the double r and you're there...) who lives at the hotel and enjoys a stroke while she inspects the grounds. There are two restaurants. The upstairs one must be booked and is marketed as a "gourmet" restaurant. We didn't try that one but instead ate in the downstairs restaurant where we found the food to be top notch as were the staff. The menus were good and an additional ten vegetarian options were added as soon as they learned that one of us was a veggie. How's that for catering for your clients? If the pool isn't your thing, a natural beach is 30 seconds walk across the country lane that separates the hotel from the sea. There are a few sun-loungers at the beach where the hotel are happy to serve drinks but the beach is generally empty as there are no other hotels very near. It is a public beach but it is nice and quiet and suitable for swimming. A small supermarket and also some tavernas are just a 10-15 minute walk away along the local lanes which are generally lined by olive and lemon trees. The hotel also has a minimarket by reception plus they have both free book and DVD libraries there too. Finally, the bed was very comfortable and ideal for catching up on sleep.More
Fabulous 4 day break
What an amazing 4 day break we had at this superb hotel. We stayed in room 111 with our own private pool and what a treat it was. Everything little detail has been thought about at this special little hotel, from day beds, steam room and jacuzzi bath. We were half board and have to say the food was very good, we enjoyed the general restaurant over the gourmet one but that was just our preference. Only staying for 3 nights we didn't venture very far but would happily have eaten at the hotel restaurant for a week. As other reviews have said the hands on owner and his staff are brilliant! So friendly and hard working, nothing is too much bother, they are a real credit to themselves We loved every minute, and would return in a heartbeat Thanks for a lovely breakMore

Perfect honeymoon destination
We have just got back from an amazing week at the Restia suites. We had a suite with a private pool which I would definitely recommend. The rooms are huge, the private pool and double spa bath are an added luxury. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was brilliant, the gourmet restaurant was superb, great to have modern Greek cuisine. The cocktails were awesome. The location was quite but the local town is a 25 min walk away, on the beach or the main road (no pavements) We were on the younger side of most of the other guests but that wouldn't stop me booking again! Fits the bill...perfectly
I'll break this review into several areas The Hotel Room and grounds We had a Jnr Suite with large [ very large ] balcony. This was more like a seperate apartment, the clever layout meant no one could overlook you giving the impression of being detached. The room itself was huge and very tastefully decorated and lit in a subtle way.The bed was........well, enormous, I never knew my wife was also in it lol. There is a seperate toilet and shower/steam room, again very spacious and a jacuzzi which is pretty powerful, bags of room.Fantastic! Restaurants / Meals The day starts with a buffet breakfast & waiter tea/coffee speciality dishes, in the bar area, good anglo/greek choices. There are two restaurants, the "ordinary" one and a gourmet, but there's little to choose between them both provide terrefic choice expertly produced and a staggeringly good wine list, we tried every red and all were superb. There is a little step up in class at Pietras, having eaten at Michelin establishments in the UK, i can honestly say that the quality at times verged on a one star. Pool Because of the large number of self contained pools, the main one was always underused by customers,I didnt see the point myself...in 75 yards of our room was a very large and lovely pool, usually virtually deserted.Outside a short walk across a narrow country road brings you to the Hotel loungers on the beach. Location On ALMYROS Beach, about a mile from Acharavi, and , again virtually empty, A Great place to just "chill" why would you want to do anything else? Staff Without exception...MARVELLOUS!...This is the Real Madrid of hotels and Zafiris has built up a really strong customer service ethos,he should be very proud of his team, from the "Queens of reception" to the kids at the bar and restaurants, to the guys tending the grounds EXCURSIONS Possibly the one disappointment was nothing to do with the hotel! it is a long way to Corfu Town and Thomsons dont make life any easier in moving excursion customers around. OTHER TAVERNAS to break up your day There are 5 in the area: - Mythos - A place full of character and a Willy Nelson replica whose so laid back he's horizontal! Avra - Just up the road, nice gardens and good value Greek food Liberty's & Zaphyros - Both family places and perfecly adequate Georges - Had a brilliant Meze here, Mrs George is a very good rustic cook Other Customers I never comment on my fellow customers [ or very rarely] in this case I have to say that this is quite a little community ! with some of the nicest people I;ve had the pleasure of meeting on holiday. SUMMARY If your idea of a holiday is to do virtually nothing amongst luxury with great service, lovely food, nice people, you couldnt go far wrong with the Restia, for us there weren't enough superlatives to describe it. GOING BACK? We make a point of saying "dont look back" with holidays, but in this case we may well make an exception...More
