Villa Fiumicello

This authentic Corsican holiday home is nestled in quiet countryside with a remoteness that's liberating. The gardens are sprinkled with oak, eucalyptus and olive trees as well as clouds of colourful flowers and a trickling stream. And there's a live-in caretaker keeping things in shipshape. The sparkling pool takes pride of place. Large and with steps sinking down into it, it's flanked by a pretty patio and stripy-cushioned sun loungers. There's also an outdoor dining table on the terrace for al fresco meals and a barbeque area.

Step inside and you'll see just how lovingly the Fiumicello has been renovated by its English and Italian owners. Parts of the farmhouse date back over 200 years and while the whitewashed walls, exposed wood beams and feature stone walls give a nod to tradition, there are stylish splashes of colour everywhere and all the modern comforts you'd expect. A beautiful fireplace and elegant furnishings are the finishing touches to a very pretty place.

There's a spacious, open-plan dining and living area with a dining table and a sink-into-soft corner sofa. There's a wonderful farmhouse-style kitchen with a breakfast table and patio doors leading out to the front terrace. And there are also three relaxing bedrooms - a bunk room suitable for children and two doubles, one of which has an arched beamed ceiling.
