Close to the peaks of Bavella and the forest of Ospedale, and an hour and a half's drive (at a leisurely pace) from Porto Vecchio and the south coast, Quenza is a small and charming village which suits those who seek peace, mountain air and the leisure to pursue such activities as riding, walking and fishing. Cooking is Felicien's greatest passion, and dinner is the highlight of the day. Not surprisingly, the Sole e Monti (which is a 'Logis de France') is recommended in all the principal French gastronomic guides, including Gault Millau, Michelin and the Bottin Gourmand.
Virtually everyone who stays at the Sole e Monti plans to return one day, to sample again the welcome, the food, and the family atmosphere, and to carry on exploring this fascinating corner of the lovely 'Alta Rocca' region, the 'high rocks'. From the beautiful plateau of Coscione, where trout spawn in little rock pools amongst emerald green turf after the snow melts in the spring, to the Bronze Age fortresses of Cucuruzzu and Capula, and the bizarre rock formations of Asinao, there is much to intrigue the visitor, who can enjoy hiking, or even canyoning with Quenza's own highly reputed mountain guides.
