Bergerie Mulinu

These authentic stone bergeries aren't your run-of-the-mill villas. They're actually former shepherd huts which have been lovingly renovated. And locations don't come any better than this – you'll find them tucked on the leafy outskirts of trendy Porto Vecchio.

The five properties are in a secluded spot, too, so privacy and scenery come as standard. And when you want to explore, the centre of Porto Vecchio is less than ten minutes by car, so making the most of the shops, bars and restaurants is easy. And if a beach ranks high on your wish list, this cluster delivers on that front, too. Just head for Santa Giulia, a ten-minute drive away, where you'll be greeted by a blanket of brilliant-white sand.

As to the villas themselves, each one offers home-from-home living. Inside, they're traditional with stone floors, beamed ceilings and chunky wood furnishings. But they don't compromise on comfort. Things like sofas piled with cushions, TVs and DVD players give a nod to modern living. The result is a set of authentic, relaxing retreats.

There's Bergerie Frangio, which has a kidney-shaped pool bordered by wooden decking. Step inside and you're greeted by a lovely lounge and dining area that leads through to a fully-equipped kitchen. Two are two comfy double bedrooms complete the picture.

The Bergerie Chiterbio is equally endearing. There's an open-plan lounge and dining area. Plus the little kitchen area has got all the gadgets you need like a microwave and dishwasher. Outside, meanwhile, there's a private pool and terrace where you can soak up the mountain views.

Bergerie Pianiccia sits in a secluded spot hidden among the trees and makes a lovely romantic retreat a deux. The terrace even has a spa to cosy up in. This one also has a double bedroom, a snug lounge with an open fire, plus a fully-equipped kitchenette.

Bergerie Mulinu is the biggest of the group with a twin bedroom and two doubles. Downstairs, there's a roomy open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. And outside, the serene pool takes centre-stage on the terrace.

Last but by no means least, is the Monte Piano, the newest addition to the collection. Sitting in pretty gardens with a private pool, this two-bedroom villa is great for families or couples, with a twin and a double bedroom.
