Hotel Les Roches Rouges

In 1912 Les Roches Rouges was built in the style of a smart Riviera hotel, bringing a touch of glamour to this wild part of the island. Times have changed yet the hotel survives in its slightly weary splendour to welcome those who want to dream of the past and drink in the spectacle of the sun sinking over the Porto Gulf from the terrace.
The faded friezes under the impressive eaves and the simplicity of the bedrooms create a more magical nostalgia for past glories than slick decor could possibly do. The walls are whitewashed and like the facade sometimes crumbling, and the furniture austere but the views, space, light and atmosphere are incomparable.
Les Roches Rouges has the most spectacular setting of any hotel on the island; it also has the verve of its owner, Mady, whose enthusiasm is boundless when it comes to looking after her guests.The half board fixed menu allows you to sample the delicious fare on offer, but Mady is flexible about making changes for those with particular aversions, as long as guests discuss this with her in advance.
Six winding kilometres below Piana is a small sandy cove and a little further is the lovely sandy beach of Arone. Both Cargese and Porto are about half an hour away by car and as the hinterland of the Gulf is a walker's paradise, Les Roches Rouges is an excellent centre for intrepid walkers and explorers.
