Villa Stantelli

Our selection of villas with private pools sells out so quickly that we leapt at the chance to take Villa Stantelli, a three bedroom villa with pool near St Florent. The villa was built by a family whom we already know well - the owners (who live in the neighbouring villa) are close relations of the owners of A Torra, also in Farinole, who built a gorgeous pool for our guests several winters ago.
The site is exceptional; a peaceful wooded hillside between Farinole village and Farinole 'marine', with super views over to the Gulf of St Florent. The vista is especially evocative at sunset, when the hills behind the gulf turn into misty silhouettes. The villa has been designed to make the most of the views, with the living areas on top, and the two main bedrooms (a double and a twin) and the main bathroom (and separate WC) below, all sea-facing (except the bathroom and WC). The double bedroom opens onto a covered veranda facing the sea and with views over the pool, whilst the sitting room above opens on to a balcony with the same view. To save running up and down stairs for cold drinks by the pool, there is a small, simple kitchen on the lower level, and a barbecue. The smaller third bedroom (with single bed), and a small shower room with WC are on the top floor, along with the separate fitted kitchen (whose equipment includes a microwave, electric oven, dishwasher and washing machine), and the sitting-dining room.
Sandy Farinole Beach is less than two kilometres below, whilst St Florent (for shopping and restaurant excursions) is about 20 minutes' drive and Patrimonio (wine-tasting excursions and some restaurants) is about ten minutes away. Around 10km in the other direction is wildly spectacular Nonza.
