An introduction to Casarella Cesarina
'A rare find' were the words of our resident Corsica enthusiast when he discovered Casarella Cesarina, for it has the best of both worlds: a fabulous location only five minutes' drive from all that Calvi has to offer for eating out, child-friendly beaches, watersports activities, people-watching and boutique shopping, as well as a peaceful location overlooking the glistening waters of Calvi Bay with views to the impressive citadel and the Balagne hills as a backdrop. For the more energetic, the villa is just a 15 minute downhill stroll from Calvi's beach and harbour front. The two-bedroom villa is set above a garden filled with flowers and mature olive trees and has been carefully designed to make the most of the spectacular views, which can be seen from the covered dining terrace and master bedroom. The owner (who lives next door) has imaginatively designed the interior to reflect local themes with cleverly-wrought iron lampshades and antique Corsican wardrobes.
The Balagne is known as the 'Garden of Corsica' and many local products can be sampled in the villages dotted amongst the hills. The area's olive oil is particularly tasty and Calvi wines are amongst the best in Corsica: the whites and roses of Clos Landry and Clos Reginu are some of our own favourites.
