In 1769, the Genoese sold Corsica to Louis XV for 40 million francs, and in his glee at obtaining the island, he made a gift of an ancient Genoese domaine named la Paratella to Monsieur Murat de la Serpriere. Having seen the Genoese come and go, la Paratella, transformed into Hotel la Signoria, now enjoys a more relaxed incarnation.
The property has been extended keeping the original style intact, so there are vaulted ceilings in the main building and antique furnishings throughout.
