Great Hotel in a Winter Wonderland
Loved this hotel, with a beautiful outlook over the snow in all directions. Old fashioned decor is perfect for Saariselka, such a pretty town. The building is very large and perhaps a good walk to your room. We found our room comfortable with a great bed and bathroom. Wifi was good in the room. A very quiet hotel when we stayed there as traffic was at a minimum due to snow covered streets outside. Breakfast was good. There is a small bar downstairs with cosy fireplace and comfy chairs. Location is ideal with nice walking trails nearby. 10 minutes walk covers most of the main street. Several pubs are nearby. Possibly the nicest hotel/township on our Finland trip.More
Super Hotel in a Beautiful Country
Like most Americans I had heard of Lapland in Finland, but not Inari-Saariselka. And wow was I pleasantly surprised. The ski resort the town great. This was the right choice in hotels. Very comfortable, I had a one bedroom apartment in the Holiday apartments. It had a sauna in the room, a nice well equipped kitchen, great bedroom and a very nice balcony. The people are so friendly here, nice lobby bar, very good restaurant so well located walking distance to the slopes, trails or town. It's a place you just have to visit.Loved itMore
Riekonlinna is very basic but ok. A kettle in the room but only paper cups... room temperature is set to 21C - which for me is much too cold - and there's no way to adjust the temperature. No nice beer in the "Takkabaari," the hotel bar - mainly some Hartwall brands, which all taste the same, and some other bad lagers. However, the service at the reception is good! And the staff is very friendly! So, I guess this is the Lappish experience: very basic but friendly and the cross-country skiing is just amazing!More
Friendly staff, poor food
Visited for Easter dinner, lovely waitress, peaceful place, but: Well done steak was not well done, but overcooked and too salty, meat was more fat than muscle. As spent years managing restaurants, would say that your cook needs holiday :) My boyfriend's meal was forgotten, same as my second glass of drink. To make not nice situation feel better - desserts were on house. Creme brulee was taken from refrigerator and caramelized sugar has lost it's condition. Maybe we will come back to give one more try, maybe not. More

Good building, close to ski resort
This hotel is quite big but the rooms are well done for the price and it is within 20mins walk or 5 min drive if the ski resort. We stayed half board for 2 nights and upgraded to a sauna room which I highly recommend after a day of snowboarding at -16! The hotel does also have a general use sauna if you room doesn't have a private one. Room had a balcony which made a nice place for mornings/sunsets. Breakfast was a good range, continental and hot food as well as fruit, yoghurt, bread and pastries. At dinner every night we had at least two options of hot mains and a soup as well as cold salads, cheese and breads. There was always one hot dessert and then two cold dessert choices and tea and coffee. Both meals were served buffet style, one of the dinner options was pork both nights though and the meat options at breakfast included bacon so not great if you don't eat it but there was enough food you could still have a full meal.More
