With pine forests and a frozen lake on the doorstep, it’s the views that everyone writes home about at the Lapland Hotel Hetta.
This place is in a picturesque part of town, snuggled up to the shores of Lake Ounasjärvi. It’s right in the heart of Lapland’s snow-dusted wilderness, so it’s a popular base for hikers and skiers.
Inside, things are just as Lappish – you’ll be met by a crackling fire in the lobby, and the restaurant puts traditional fare on the menu. An indoor pool and Finnish sauna are also part of the scene.

Renovated rooms are very good
The hotel has a great location. On the frozen river with on the other site the National Park. Been in Lapland before for business and private. It's more or less all the same! Clean are/ not poluted/ special/ etc. But the ince thing about Hetta is the Sami culture. It's really in the hart of it and it shows. Loved it.More

Lapland Hotel Hetta
Great cosy place to stay, staff friendly enough, place clean and tidy. The open log fire in the sitting room was awsome, only thing is they could do with more seating. The location is right next to a lake that was frozen when we went, great views from the dining area, and the hotel is about a 10 minute walk from a abandoned ski slope. We was lucky enough to see the northern lights, this location is one of the best locations to see them. They were amazing! The food was alright, there was a couple of nights where people didnt like anything they saw so they asked the chef to make chicken nuggets and so he did, he had them served in about half an hour. About a 15 minute walk from local shops and the church, nice little walk. The bar was quite hard to get served at you would be the only person stood there waiting and they would be doing something else for a good 10 minutes - whilst watching you waiting. Drinks prices were a little over the top - €9 for a pint. And the adult only bar was only open one night out of the four nights we stayed there for some reason. Huskies & the snow mobile activities were amazing! Something I will never forget. Overall I think many people who have been here will agree that this place is a nice place to stay, and good for the money.More
Pleasant friendly Hotel.
This hotel is quite modern in comparison to some others in the area, it is situated on the main road and is close to the ski slopes and the lake. Thompson reps were in the hotel when my family and I visited and they had evening entertainment for the children which was excellent. We had dinner in the spacious restaurant which albeit a buffet was varied and well prepared. The staff were very friendly, the hotel was clean and we enjoyed sitting by the log fire with a glass of wine.More

Absolute top location. I visited for 3 nights, from 4th-7th December. Such an idyllic location, snowmobiling on a frozen lake, husky ride and on our final night, the Northern Lights.. Beautiful log fire in the main reception with sofas around - we had an amazing group and sat around chatting. Rooms are basic but adequate though I still had the previous occupants dirty wine glasses in the room, which also remained for the whole of my stay! Food is ok, not always to my palette but good all the same.More

lovely, non commercialized place to visit
hotel clean and friendly, lounge area with log fire lovely, however could use a little more seating, entertainment in the evening for children seemed good but started towards the end of tea time so if you haven't finished eating yet it was very noisy as the entertainment was placed within the dinning hall, perhaps consider moving the entertainment to the other side of the restaurant as that was empty anyway, the food was excellent quality although not much variety, pool and sauna not open until 4pm disappointing and pool freezing, gift shop located in lounge area is hidden from staff view and we witnessed several thefts both from the gift shop and bar, hotel needs to consider cctv or more observant staff also to enhance staff view from reception area, (we did inform reps) frustrating when your spending hard earned money and people are stuffing 18 euro reindeers in their bags like there going outa fashion, other than those things it is extremely well kept hotel, views are amazing and the restaurant overlooking the frozen lake which they hotel has a back door leading out on to is beautiful, hotel also has cinema rooms which the reps took children to watch films in, I would recommend this hotel and the area, clean and comfortable.More
